Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
To be clear your original calibration value that you found when you didn't open/exit the party menu will always be your base calibration value. As long as you don't do anything else it will stay that way. Btw if you were to capture/faint the roamer you would subtract 1 from your base calibration value I believe.
Well as long as you stay in the day-care building the calibration is easy to keep track of. For me my base calibration value is 19. I can sit around forever and I'm 99% sure it will stay that way.
How did you get a calibration number as 963? Did you SR before taking the 255th step? And being in the day-care building is extremely important as there are no outside factors there affecting the RNG except the roamer.
Speaking of the roamer I think it's fine to leave it around unless you get inconsistent calibration values. In that case go catch it.
If you want to change your calibration value you will need to keep track each time you redraw the environment. It's pretty simple to count how many time you enter and exit the party menu.
As for MSVCR100.dll error you need to install this.
