Well, personally I found Vaporeon to be a very amazing mon, and a very good glue. To put it into perspective, mine took a +1 Haxorus Earthquake and then took out half of it's hp or so with Ice Beam. Oh, and did I mention that said Haxorus was 1 or 2 levels ahead of Vap?
As for a ground type, getting a Sandile would be my recommendation. A Drillbur can be great if you can get one, but you already have 2 steel types and I always found Excadrill's fire weakness to be annoying.
Nice team, although you may want to consider packing a ground type for Elesa, since she's as tough as ever. I believe you also get the Rock Tomb TM sometime before that gym, which will help against the Emolga. Drillbur just steamrolled through her team iirc.

Speaking of which, I finished Black 2 relatively recently. Had a team of Emboar, Ampharos, Excadrill, Leavanny, Vaporeon, and Crobat. Sadly, I don't think it worked too well, but oh well. I was actually going to use a Zoroark instead of Excadrill, but decided against it when I saw how frail Zorua was.
Currently in Black 2, I'm working on a Rotation battle team with:
Archeops
Volcarona
Hydreigon
Metagross
Pretty well, but I hardly get any free time, especially with the tests I keep getting.
I really want to get the RPGs up and running again.

I don't know if you do ASB anymore, but I just continued. If you do, you should consider getting a Moon Stone for Nidoking. It boosts it's attack by one rank and gives it Recoil-free Head Smash!
