  • So, let's say I wanted to hatch a perfect Corsola, that had a good nature and was shiny, with perfect IVs.
First, you'd need the right parents; probably a flawless Ditto as one parent, and a male Corsola with the egg moves you want to pass down as the other (or a female Corsola if you don't care about egg moves).
You need to download the programme RNGReporter, which requires the .NET framework if you don't already have it: http://users.smogon.com/mingot/rngreporter.htm
Now, it's a lot easier if you can verify your seed. In Heart Gold, that means either you have at least one Pokémon still roaming around the map (Entei, Raikou or Latias; the more the better), or you've advanced far enough int he game that Professor Elm gives one of three different messages when you call him (he should either mention Pokémon evolution, Kanto, or Pokérus; you need to have gone to Kanto for the second one, and you need to have tried to heal a Pokémon with Pokérus at a Pokécentre for the third)
Well, phone calls to Elm raise the RNG frame by 1, and tuning in the bottom right radio station and then dragging back to the middle also raises by one. That's the frame for the RNG (the one that specifies IVs), not the frame for the IRNG (which specifies gender, nature, ability and shininess).

Timing is important here, but usually at a different stage, namely when you're turning the game on. There are specific programmes to help with the timing, though.
    Here's the RNG thread: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52180
The second post has a lot of info on HG.

To get, for instance, Corsola, you'd first decide whether to try and hatch it or catch it. Personally, for non legendaries I'd try and hatch it. You need at least one parent with 31 in three IVs if you want to make Corsola perfect, and the more flawless IVs the easier it is; a flawless Ditto is the ideal parent. First you need to get the correct nature/ability/gender and shininess. This is easier than the IVs. Do you want a shiny one? If so, you'll need to know your SID.
Ah, sorry, had to do something. HG/SS RNGing is basically the same as for D/P/Pt; pretty much everything from thise games also applies in HG. There aren't any specific articles for HG yet, except for the first page of the main RNGing thread in the wifi forum, which has useful info.

The biggest differences are that the journal and Pokétch are gone, and instead we have the Pokégear. Instead of using flips through the journal to increase the frame, we can use tuning into radio shows or phoning Professor Elm.
Uh where is your HG Fc all I see is your Platinum Fc which I'm using
Ah, sorry, I don't really know anything about Emerald. If you have any problems with RNGing on D/P/Pt/HG/SS I can help, but I've never even played a third generation game. So far as I know, the initial seed is always the same and the frames progress at an even rate... But I couldn't really help with any more.
