Well, i can do both, I prefer showdown, but my time schedule prevents me from doing so for too long.
Plus I'm currently looking for a PS alternate for when I'm unavailable to PS battle. I don't mind wifi cause I can access it easily, but i really would like to showdown as the preffered battle way. Until I get a computer of my own, I sadly have to rely on my Wifi for now and have a limited time for showdown =(
If anything, I could be the wifi alternate
Idea: Instead of badges in BALD, maybe we could do trophies. When you beat a Gym, you get a trophy of the leader's signature Pokemon. For example, when people beat you, they get this:

anyway its kind of cool that way, makes so gyms arent a pushover, as much as i was looking forward to not having to bother with dragonite and cloyster (no togekiss was too much to hope for). haha anyway good battle
