Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Regarding yes or other progrock stuff? if the former, I'd say give a listen to 90125, the album which owner of a lonely heart. If progrock, Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick is pretty great.
awaken is also a really good song mag! my second favourite of theirs after close to the edge
(sorry to butt in btw lol, i was drawn by the avatar too :> i very much approve)
Say, I just gave a listen to awaken (and gates to delirium while I was at it) and it was... quite psychedelic to say the least. Very enjoyable, though. You know any other cool progrock band other than Yes, TDP?
favourite genre, although my preferred bands might be a tad standard... my favourite prog band is Genesis (gabriel + hackett era), other ones that i like are Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, and Rush.. Early Queen (real favourite band) counts as prog too, and Camel is a p. great band that's not as well known as the others :]
as far as actual recs go, Genesis's Foxtrot and A Trick of the Tail are their best albums imo (best songs Supper's Ready and One for the Vine), and from Jethro Tull I personally really like the album Stormwatch (aside from TAAB of course lol, as well as A Passion Play but thought it was awful at first and it took me over 20 listens to have it grow on me x_x), and some good songs of theirs are Flying Dutchman, Velvet Green, and Look into the Sun :] getting carried away here lol but a couple other things I recommend are Pink Floyd - Echoes (best song ever), Queen - The March of the Black Queen / My Fairy King, and Camel - The Snow Goose (full album, it's unlike anything you've ever heard) / Lady Fantasy / Lawrence :]
