no rly he isn't a monster. the reason he created the creature was bc he was obsessed with science --> something that was a flaw. the reason he fled from the creature was because he was scared of his creation --> flaw (not monstrosity!). the reason he still refused to acknowledge and create a mate for the creature was because he did not understand the creature itself + he was scared of what the creature would spawn.
