yeah but I mean how does it work? how can they stay in character when just doing regular stuff? Like how would Ledger talk to Nolan about his performance, that would mean revealing that he's playing a character. If it just means keeping your voice the same, I don't see the difference.

I saw a behind the scenes footage of Heath Ledger in one of the scenes where a crewman had to go inside the car and work on it or something, and Heath was like mime-kicking him from behind and stuff and just jumping around and being goofy. Is that what it is? I feel like you'd just run out of things to do though.

I think you just act as him; like heath was like "Hey chris, for my shot today can I fix up my hair and overdo the makeup? because if I was going to be making a video for the news presentation then I would want to look my best" --in reference to the video the joker shoots of him and the hockey pad man

but then you are making the character aware that he's in a movie. isn't that kind of breaking the character anyway.
