Ok, so i have been fiddling with this all day. i got the dev mode to work, i got the right dolphin version so i have the real time clock, but i am running into an issue. i have dolphin version 5.0-3675, and i am trying to set up a ram watch. however, when input the addresses, something doesn't work and i don't get any information from them. and when i close the emulator, the watches don't stay and i have to imput them in again.

it seems the addresses you give in your video don't seem to work with the updated versions of dolphin. i imput the ram watch, but i don't get anything from them. it looks like other addresses work, but not the ones you gave me. i don't know what i am doing wrong. sorry about this, i just came seem to figure this out.

well i look at the addresses in the code tab, it says there is no ram there.

Yeah, you'll need to use the version that I put in the description (might might need to scroll back through the pages to find it, it's probably around page 55 of the dolphin releases by now). 5.0-266 is the one you want, the others won't work.

i tried that one as well and the same issue happened.

5.0-266, not 5.0-2660

If you can wait 10 mins for me to get on my laptop, I'll grab you a direct download link

Also, the values will only update when you pause the game (I think the default keybind for that is F10, though I may be wrong on that one). Try progressing to the menu screen, pausing, and then see if there's any values.

ok, so watched your video again and i think i will be able to rng abuse my first pokemon in XD tomorrow (going for poocheyna). i just wanted to ask about frame advancing. i know that looking at a pokemon in the party or in the pokemon list will advance the frames, but i wanted to know an average of how many frames they advance. also, do you need to be super precise with your frame advancing once you get close? like will i ever have to advance 1 frame at a time, and if so, how would i do that?

Nice choice, Poochyena is a good one to start out on. Lots of people (including myself) attempt to start out on Teddiursa, which is actually arguably the hardest Pokemon in the whole game to RNG abuse for due to the insane noise in that area.
amab's old RNG Guide (specifically this page: http://imgur.com/a/73aCC#lXrRRyQ) should answer your questions on advancing the frame, and bear in mind that the longer the animated sprite is on the screen, the more frames you will advance.
You don't always have to be /super/ precise, due to something called a "Nature Lock" (read more about those in amab's guide), but should you get stuck in a situation where you need to advance a single frame in a quiet PRNG area, letting the character do 1 idle animation (these happen ~1 time every 10 seconds that you don't move the character) will advance the PRNG by 1. Let me know if any of that needs clarification/how if goes when you try it!

ok, so i have been trying to rng abuse poocheyna for a while, and i seem to be having a few issues. for one, my dolphin seems to crash ever 5000 frames or so. it gets really annoying as it seems whenever i get close to my target frame, it crashes and i have to try again. i also am finding that when the game isn't freezing, it gets a few frames away from my target frame, never hits it. i might e 10 frames over or under, but whenever i try using the idle animation to advance frames one at a time, it either advances like 5 frames and i miss my target, or it stays on the frame it was on before and doesn't change no matter what i do.

does having a party member following you affect the rng? cause i am trying to rng abuse this while i am getting the machine part from gateon port, and i have jodi with me. could that be messing with the rng and making it hard to hit my seed?

Ok - to stop Dolphin crashing, you'll need to go into Options -> Configure -> Untick "Enable Dual Core (speedup)"
It'll make the game run a tiny bit slower but should fix 99% of the crashes.
I'm not sure on the Jodi question, though I don't imagine she would unless she oo has idle animations, and those would still probably only advance the PRNG by 1. It could be a good idea to get rid of her, though, just it case.

As for your frame issue, I do know the problem (and the solution) but I don't have the time to explain it properly right now. Basically, XD has a strange system where it alternates between Odd and Even PRNG frames for the nature locks, and this can cause you to seemingly advance past your target or completely skip your target, while in reality you still haven't actually reached your target. The shorthand explanation of how to deal with it is to not worry about half of the frames you hit - if your Target is Odd, only worry about the Odd-numbered frames that you hit, and vice versa. The Even ones will give you an indication of where you're at, but the Odd ones are the ones that you should be worrying about (and the reverse is also true if your target is even). Hope that kind of makes sense, I'll probably do a more detailed explanation later when I have more time.

a more detailed explanation would be nice, but i can wait till you have the time. i'll see if i can use what you have told me to figure things out better
