I don't think it was Fletcher, like at all. And I don't think the janitor would take it when Andrew was right next to it the whole time lol. Apparently in the script the janitor did take it though. If that's the case it was filmed kinda stupidly, there should have been more time and maybe shown Andrew go across the room to get to the vending machine or something. What kind of janitor takes something that is within arm's reach of a student lol.
The only reasonable explanation in my opinion is that a rival band snatched it away. That's the only way that it could happen so SNEAKILY
I actually did think it was the janitor at first but just because he was shown in shots beforehand. So it seemed like foreshadowing. But yeah, when you think about it the rival band makes the most sense.
BTW, I always thought that was the most contrived part of the film. Like how Tanner can't remember the music without having the sheets. Like any musician will know there's no possible way you could go to all those rehearsals and not have the music memorized at least like 95%. I still remember most of the music I played in middle school lol.
They used the medical condition that gave him bad memory and required visual cues but is that really a thing? Wouldn't an easier way to get him out of the picture be to have him have an accident? Like have someone slam a door on his hand or something.
That would also be another opportunity to show how cruel Fletcher would be as he'd probably not let Tanner go off to get medical attention yet and have him stay to flip Andrew's sheets.
No, like omg dude. You focus on the execution SO MUCH that there's no room to remember the music. If it's simple you can remember what happens, but I literally need the music to play stuff. I can memorize theatre scripts and such but that's different. Symphonies are long af and I cannot play them from memory whatsover. I can remember how they sound but not how to get there. All I need is to glance at the page.
In that case did they really have to make the medical condition thing though? Know what I mean? Like the movie was saying that it is typical for people to remember their music, but this guy couldn't, and they had to come up with a medical reason for it.
Why would he need an excuse? He wanted to play, plus Fletcher wanted him to play. And he also said "you know this" implying that he had told Fletcher before.
Plus, he got mad as hell at Andrew for losing the folder. Like seriously mad. Called him a dumb fuck.
