I am kinda glad Colin Treverrow is off episode 9, because I really don't think he's a very good director. JJ Abrams is a *better* choice, but not necessarily a good one. Personally I would've just wanted Rian Johnson to finish it or someone else. But Lucasfilm is having major director problems as you know.

Anyway, I've said it before that I thought Jurassic World was fun, but not necessarily good, from writing or directing. There were a lot of things that went nowhere, too many storylines (each minor character got their own B-storyline, kind of pointless, that really had nothing to do with the plot). A few weird plot holes like the Indominus rex growing up alone with 0 social skills (which is specifically stated as a plot point) yet it can convince raptors to turn against the trainers they trust because they "share DNA" (lmao).

The thing is though, I don't really expect it to be "good" beyond just fun. I already know that the Jurassic Park franchise is played out. It's one of those theme-first stories, so, like The Terminator, it only really ever had one story to tell (The Terminator TV show was so good though dude lol). And we already knew this because Lost World and Jurassic Park 3 had to basically ape major plot points to get the story going at all, and the theme of "don't mess with nature" was the same in each. But again I'm okay with that because those movies were fun.

On the other hand, I think Star Wars movies can still be good. Especially in regards to characters. I know you didn't like TFA but you liked Kylo Ren. He's still got some emotional stuff to go through. We got Luke back now, he's definitely got baggage. I didn't feel like Jurassic World did characters very well. Emotions were so contrived and manipulative. Like literally "Hey let's say that the kids' parents are having a divorce, because divorce is sad!" even though it had nothing to do with the rest of the story. This is the same tier as "have everyone be mean to Electro on his birthday in Amazing Spider-Man 2, that will make people feel sorry for him!" Kind of interesting because I feel like The Force Awakens DID handle divorce really well, between Han and Leia. And it's hard to compare the two universes in terms of characters because the world and verisimilitude around them is so different, but yeah I'd rather not take the risk.

I think JJ is a very good director, if not a writer. But I heard Chris Terrio (who co-wrote Argo and BvS) is going to be writing too so I have hope.

Personally I think it would be really cool to have Steven Spielberg do it since he was supposed to do episode 6 but like lol there's no way in hell that's happening with Lucasfilm's current director problems. Seems like they're very micromanaging. And plus Steven Spielberg used to be Kathleen Kennedy's boss (hey, what gives with all this alliteration?) so that'd be awkward as hell. Like even though she'd be in charge of him technically, their relationship could still feel like he was the one in charge. Although, he *is* doing Indiana Jones 5 with Lucasfilm, so who knows?

lol omg I didn't even plan it but like lol that divorce subplot in Jurassic World. the more I think about it the worse I remember it is. I don't even think the dad had more than 1 or 2 lines in the whole movie ahaha a total non-character

also: yes Jurassic Park did have a divorce premise but that's totally different. That was just background info. Jurassic World *tries* to make the divorce factor into the story, but it's totally unearned so it fails.

I don't have high hopes for the star wars future but I will judge them as I see them. Hopefully this new writer can make something interesting happen!
