it certainly isn't subtle. and yeah I don't think it's a great line. I get what it's getting at, that like everyone is corruptible. But like what other option is there besides dying as what you are, or becoming something else. There's literally nothing else. It's as bad as when Neil deGrasse Tyson said "All armed conflicts in history are because people thought different things were true."

I'm not someone who has a problem with Nolan talking about his themes so overtly, because honestly a ton of films do that and he tends to put them in organically, like when someone is literally giving a speech, or during closing narration. But that was a really weird thing to say in the middle of a conversation. In context it is so rough

Yeah, like he said "it's ok to have dangerous people with good intentions to have power" and ceasar was a COUNTER to that lmfao. And this is him saying that, resigning to the argument? It is so obviously written for the trailer lol.
