it just seems to me that every single superhero has to have a civilian love interest that doesn't work and is inevitably dropped. Does Dr. Strange really need a love interest? Does fucking THOR need a human love interest?

Hulk? Eventually these love interests get dropped in the sequels lol because they just suck up screentime. Even in Wonder Woman, I guarantee if Steve didn't die at the end they'd have to split up or something. They just live way too different lives
It kinda works for Captain America and Batman I think since the whole POINT of their romantic arcs is that their lives would never allow them to settle down.

I agree, movies in particular are really bad at the romances. But comics can tell a better story
