I liked the set up and payoff where she played dead.

I feel like in short stories and sketches they need to have some kind of twist or "catch" in a way longer stories don't if you know what i mean.

Hmm, I don't really agree. I think a good sketch idea can just exist without the requirement to subvert expectations

I don't mean subverting expectations, it's just a minor gag (in this case her pretending to play dead paying off at the end)

like they need a clever comment to end on, it can't just end because the story is over

probably because there is barely any set up so there is no need for a denouement like in longer stories

I still disagree, good short sketches can have a central thing and just exist without needing a twist, and then just end. Super common in 1-2 minute improv stuff
