    I'm using a ROM file for this spread (It's sort of game/spread, because I RNGed the OT/SID for this one spread of timid and modest 31/x/31/31/31/31, ability 1. But now that I've seen these encounter slots for the modest one, I'm wondering if anyone anywhere has caught a modest staryu with this spread. Is it even possible?

    Yeah, the fella who wanted the CP wanted a dive ball. He asked for timid, but then got the timid one from someone else before I was ready. Anyhow, I'll catch the staryu for myself.

    I was going for a timid catch, but then the guy said he wanted modest, and then I checked the spread for modest and discovered there are no encounter slots listed for this particular IV spread with a modest nature, not for fishing anyhow. So unless I misunderstood the information, I have to go with timid.
    Wait, I found an answer in the help thread after doing a search on the word 'encounter'. It looks like I have to go get the super rod, because I don't have any encounter slots for a staryu on this seed unless I use a super rod. So surfing goes bye bye. :-(
    I have a question about encounter slots. I hope you don't mind me asking, but how do you use them to get the right poke when you want to catch one? I'm trying for a staryu that will show up while I'm surfing. I've caught standing legendaries, but they don't have encounter slots. I can't find anything in the guides on how to use them.
    It's the biggest game of Paper, Scissor, Rock on the planet, aka Pokemon. ;-)

    I've just never used a Horsea/Kingdra before now. I've always had some other water poke. It just never happened to be a horsea. Since I'm starting these games, the horsea will be a good member of my starting team.
    This will be the first one I use extensively in a game, so that's going to be fun. I'm not much of a battler (yet). I do properly EV my favourite pokes, but I just find it's fun to play the game, catch the pokes, learn the RNG.
    I put it in my thread with the red semi-redis font plus the usual "I can distribute; you cannot" warning. :-) I'm going to have to EV it and get it on one of my new games to help me beat up the gyms. I like using a different set of pokes when I start a new game. It's more fun.

    Btw, I was able to unlock another of the level 1 pokes at the Sinjoh Ruins. I traded for someone's Hall of Origin Arceus this morning (he used an AR generated Azure Flute) and it did indeed unlock a second opportunity to do the three pokes. This time I did a naive Giratina-O.
    Yes, that would be great. I just ate and I'm on the computer for a little bit, before one of my kids accuses me of being a computer hog.
    I was on late anyhow because I couldn't get on earlier. I'm sort of half way between having supper and not. Things are disorganized today. This was the last day of school for my kids.

    Do you happen to be free to do the trade now?
    I'm not sure. I'll try to be on then. It was around 11 pm at night for me, so I'll just let my husband know I'd like the computer then. I have to go make supper now. :-( Don't like cooking.

    I know, we'll just eat strawberries. Mwa ha ha...
