would Solrock be better? Attacking physically means that it threatens tran and Mag more + higher physdef. It hits the benchmarks too

maybe you should post about Solrock instead, as in my eyes it is strictly better. The only thing it misses out on is a 2HKO on Zapdos.

the special calcs are only off by a percent or two, and the physdef calcs are off my 2% or more.

Solrock threatens Mag hard and always 2HKOs Tran, while Lunatone threatens Zapdos and Moltres with 2HKOs and OHKOs respectively, which solrock just slightly misses out on. With the given spreads, Lunatone also has a slightly harder hit on Dragonite and Solrock on Nidoking, but it's not enough to be noticeable.

I think being able to beat Magearna 1v1 if it switches in is the big thing here for Solrock that makes it better.

Maybe I should make a combined post about both of them? It fits a similar role but would entirely depend on people's personal preference for a physical or a special attacker.

yea combine them together and maybe mention flygon. In my opinion Solrock is strictly better but Lunatone is still usable in the niche, and in future metagames it may change.

I've been thinking about starting my own Youtube series in a similar manner, except it focuses on the niche of extremely underrated and forgotten Pokemon in standard formats. Was wondering if you wanted to be involved in it?

Of course that sounds great but I don't think I have the time to be able to commit to anything right now. I'd love to help make some things happen but if I'm given any responsibilities I'm not sure I'll be able to live up to them consistently. Sorry but I will definitely watch.

When I do get time to play around mons usually I like to apply myself to revolutionizing the current metagame (instead of looking at old ones/mons with pre-established niches). I really do like to think about mons more than play it so that's why I'm so low ladder.

For sure man! I'm basically trying to form like a small network of people who can help find great niches for Pokemon who are criminally ignored on Smogon, low or higher ladder.

Yea I may be able to find some niches for mons! Just know that I'm not really familiar with anything other than SS OU.

Oh yeah, that's totally cool! The modern metagame is what a lot of people are going to want special niches for as is. I've already got a good amount of Pokemon to start writing for. It's just gonna take a bit of time to learn the new software for video editing xD
