You too man! I'm making the post as we speak, it should be up within an hour, there's a lot of typing I still have to do! Also I'm really happy you dug the song! Thank you dude.

Great!

Lunatone and Solrock learn Morning Sun :psycry: how did i miss this

Honestly, I feel that protect is still the best option. Having the ability to scout is more useful than reliable recovery imo.

Don't beat yourself up, man! The set is wonderful, and I added in recovery as additional options to the post.
musiquepkmn
Protect might be worth a slot, but honestly I'm kind of split. You're never clicking Protect or Morning sun in front of anything Lunatone is supposed to wall (Nidoking, Heatran, Dragonite, Moltres, Zapdos) as it would nearly always be more valuable to attack. especially in Dnite and Heatran's case where clicking healing/protect is actively damaging you or giving the opponent a free turn.
musiquepkmn
Nothing Lunatone can come in against is going to need scouting for unless you run into a lot of Eruption Tran, which can blow past Lunatone with flash cannon anyways. Running protect is giving you that scouting option but it leaves you really weak to hit-and-run scenarios vs Nidoking and such where you're taking a bunch of rocks chip and Clef can't find any free turns. Imma do more testing.

Also another problem is that Moonlight / Morning Sun have their recovery nerfed from 1/2 to 1/4 on Sand Tyranitar build teams (where Lunatone and Solrock excel), so the reliable recovery is made meaningless there.

So maybe it's a more usable option when not on sand? I still need to do some testing too but that's what I've gotten so far.
musiquepkmn
yea. What do you think of this team I just made? https://pokepast.es/e95b61df458a25fb
has some weaknesses such as Kart and the normal sand weakness of Spdef Hippowdon, but other than that i think it's good. of course down here in low ladder ppl are running a lot of specs regieleki and Volcanion and other niche picks that give it trouble.

I actually really like this team! Honestly though, I'd swap out Excadrill. Melmetal covers the necessary offensive presence required of a slot, and you can then put in a Pokemon that can handle Kartana. (I'm actually in the middle of typing out a Centiskorch post for OU!)
musiquepkmn
when testing i often don't find too much use for Lunatone tho, apart from Nidoking. Tyranitar deals with Heatran pretty nicely on its own and Lunatone's weakness to Knock Off and Uturn aren't helping. My undying displeasement for wishclef is showing itself too, as whenver it gets below 60% usually it's just a sack, but that's probably me.
musiquepkmn
well i need a ground type, and Excadrill does some nice things for the team that i like like another steel type and some nice LO power, but im the one who's low ladder lol.

Honestly, I think you should try Sandslash for that niche. Higher defensive function, Rapid Spin access, lacks a fire weakness.
musiquepkmn
well sandslash doesn't really do anything other than defend and Dracozolt on it's own as an offensive mon isn't really too consistent. Plus sandslash would mean Clefable viably wishports to every single mon on the team, including itself, so i fear it would stretch it thinner than it's already stretched.
