I should have asked...I cant really help you on Platinum since I cant RNG in Platinum :P. HGSS is way easier.
For calibrating you should use it. im going to be writing a quick guide how to calibrate so you know what to do. Are you RNGing in HGSS? I cant help you if your RNGing in Platinum since I dont bother to try.

I will right down how you need to calibrate maybe your doing something wrong. Are you using a AR?
Yea do it a few more times, I usually get 15 seconds and delay of 483-495. You dont really need to calibrate using a timer but those seconds bug me :P. Try to see if you can get 15 seconds a few times.
Personally I never hatched a non-shiny Pokemon so its easier for me to go step by step with you since im RNGing a Relicanth right now..But can you tell me if your average delay by calibrating is odd or even?
You dont want the Paras shiny?..Might as well make it shiny since its really not that hard.
Also do you know what delay you hit? When you calibrated did you hit a even delay or an odd delay? Example: 525 Odd | 524 Even
Alright go to the RNG reporter time finder and go to the shiny egg tab
Nevermind forget about it....Slowpoke is Bashful so you should try to get a better one.
Do you know the IVs of your parents you using for Slowpoke? And what Pokemon went into the day care in order?
