Well 3rd gen is the cutoff since 1st and 2nd gen aren't compatible with future gens. 3rd gen has certain move tutor moves like Counter, Seismic Toss and Body Slam. For Snorlax/Mewtwo/Wailord that's how you get Self Destruct. While Snorlax can get it as an egg move from a Pokewalker Munchlax that would be the only egg move it could have while a 3rd gen could get Curse egg move, and have it taught Counter/Self Destruct/Double-Edge. There are some other egg move combos that require 3rd gen like Starly w/ Double-Edge/Roost/Pursuit, Gligar w/ Counter/Baton Pass but you don't need to RNG in 3rd gen for them, only need the right parents from 3rd gen.

For breeding it's not too bad. You have to get the right IVs in the right spots on parents though... You have to time picking up the egg to 1/60th of a second. After SR it's about 40 sec for special attackers, 4 minutes for physical attackers, and 20 minutes for flawless. Unless you get Alternate Inheritance mode, which appears randomly and you never know until you notice it happening when you pick up the egg.

Edit: I'd like an Adamant DW Crawdaunt and a Naive HP Ice Chimchar. Might be a bit much but it did take me 5 days of waiting before I could get those 6 Careful pokes... Do you want the Registeel in 4th gen?

I only used that for breeding egg moves on a Bisharp (which I guess you will too), so it hasn't got known IVs, it's just junk, you can have it for free xD
