  1. Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Exactly. You want to change the weather? You risk eating Hurricane or lose momentum if Tornadus-T U-turns out (which isn't difficult to predict). It's almost always a lose/lose situation for the other person when Tornadus-T is on the playing field, slightly reminiscent of the checkmate position...
  2. Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Mmight as well bump Tornadus-T to S rank. Sure, Hurricane sets need rain; but in rain, Birdman is the undisputed top dog by a mile, plus maybe five light years. I can see the argument of Tornadus-T needing rain; if so, we have to have a consensus when it comes to tiering other Pokemon - is...
  3. Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Victreebel is amazing, especially since Weatherball > HP Fire; and Leaf Blade is bloody good. Pity about that bulk, really. It may still be B tier, though, since IMO its offensive prowess is arguably better than Venusaur. If Heatran's out/low on HP, one growth mid-game and it's more or less GG.
  4. Pokemon of the Week #16: Latias

What role do you guys think Reuniclus has to play in this meta? IMO the OTR is Reuni's only viable set right now, and it's biggest niche is cleaning up offensive teams late game. Reuni has to be capable of more, though.
  5. OU Mini-Tournament #2 [Won by ThunderBlunder!]

Go sensei Doom go! You were my pick from the start. :)
  6. Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Not giving a damn about Tyranitar is probably Hydreigon's biggest selling point. But IMO, it ends there. As for running mixed - Superpower is pretty much a Christmas gift for Tyranitar alone (Chansey doesn't even get 2HKOed), what else can Hydreigon run? Earthquake? Who's that going to hit...
  7. Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Hydreigon's too slow for a dragon. You'd be better off with something like LO Latias as a wallbreaker. I tried them both, and Latias was better by a mile.
  8. November 2012 OU Stats

I think it's because Gengar is the only 'viable' offensive spin-blocker in OU; and it's not very good at spin-blocking due to a lack of bulk. I've been experimenting with other alternatives to spin-blocking, but there aren't many options, really. Looks like Drizzle is definitely going to...
  9. Gen 5 The OU Viability Ranking thread

Wow I did not realise Scizor was rank B until now. Scizor is definitely A. CBzor is still a very good check to non-steel members on offensive teams, and the ability to trap Lati@s/ Gengar is huge, especially with Deoxys-D/Gengar everywhere. I've also been using SDzor as a late game sweeper...
  10. WallBreaking in the BW2 metagame.

You mean Mach Punch? Because Latios is gonna fry yo asse before you can Bullet Seed it. Love the sig btw.
  11. WallBreaking in the BW2 metagame.

Hot damn I didn't know Bolt Strike is available to Victini. This is great news indeed, since it means EB OHKOs offensive variants. Sadly, even with that EB Victini cannot OHKO defensive Toad. It comes terribly close, though. But defensive Toad doesn't do much to Victini anyway, so I suppose...
  12. WallBreaking in the BW2 metagame.

So I went away and had a little play with Victini. I find expert belt to work better on Victini if your goal is to wall-break. This is especially good if you're playing Victini on a sun team (which you should anyway) to set up a Victreebel/Venusaur sweep. Oh, and I run Adamant on Victini, if...
  13. WallBreaking in the BW2 metagame.

Perhaps Darmanitan and Victini warrant a spot in there somewhere - they're both incredible wall breakers that become ridiculously powerful under sun. Plus they both have a coverage move that can wreck Heatran, the only Pokemon in OU immune to fire.
  14. np: BW OU Suspect Testing Round 8 - Mr. Roboto (SEE POST #240)

Just wanted to quickly point out that at +1, Scarfed MoxieMence cannot KO Genesect with Outrage after SR damage; and we all know what Ice Beam does to Salamence.
  15. Underrated but effective sets in the BW2 overused metagame

Only potential problem I see is Tentacruel in rain, since Scald 2HKO's Gengar (which may not be a bad thing if they're not expecting DBond) - but if Cruel decides to Protect, which it may as well since after one Scald Gengar usually won't be in range to sub, you're in trouble. Weavile can't...
  16. Anti-Metagame

TR Bronzong has massive anti-metagame potential. With Levitate, it has no weakness in rain (Haxorus is so rare these days), and Gyro ball hits this fast paced meta pretty hard, walled only by some steels, and EQ gets rid of Magnezones and Heatrans. Zong can even run psychic to nail Keldeo who...
  17. Latias Discussion: The Underrated Eon

Totally agree. Even when I try to move away from Latias, I always come back to her. The LO set checks so many things, and fills in so many gaps that it's almost impossible to pass up. She's like a 110 speed Hydreigon with a better typing (or worse depending on how you see it), and we all know...
  18. Thanks. Yeap I've done all the formalities stuff and already starting on a new team!

  19. Simple Questions & Simple Answers & General Resources (OU Edition) MK II

Mmwawkay. Another quick Q, Lati and Heatran aside, are there any other reliable sun checks? I assume Toed somewhat fits into this category since it changes the weather?
  20. Simple Questions & Simple Answers & General Resources (OU Edition) MK II

Magnezone aside, how do rain teams typically deal with steel threats, especially ones that lack a significant weakness outside fire such as Ferrothorn, Forretress, Genesect, Scizor?
