At least its not Glaceon this time...
  2. np: SV UU Stage 1: Re-Entry (Beta starts now, bye Espathra!)

How have people found Alomomola? I am running the standard trapper set and its been pretty solid as a defensive backbone by just shutting down most physically offensive mons and then passing massive wishes the rest of the game. I missed this guy in gen 8
  3. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I think it might be just because of all the hazards around but I have been finding myself avoiding LO on offensive mons a lot this gen, especially on physical attackers. Feel like I see helmet a lot on bulky teams and with the occasional TTar, you end up eating a ton of passive damage. I have...
  4. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I think the biggest loss of the recovery moves was how much it nerfs the CroCune type sets. I've got a lot of run from CroCune over the generations, but it feels like rest/sleep talk is a lot less reliable as a bulky strat than it was in prior gens. Part of that is the tempo of the current OU...

  6. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I like the grass cat. Flower Trick has been a 2-3HKO on the few that I have faced. Ive also caught a few out with good predictions like CC into their skeledirge on a predicted switch. Not an OHKO but enough damage to chip down with the next round of attacks.

What is the argument for Specs vs Scarf? I have had some success with a Scarf set, playing it similar to gen 8 Scarf Lele. Chi-yu is def too strong for the current meta but it has been pretty fun
  8. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

The current metagame feels like it has much less immediate power than gen 8 did. Palafin, Bundle, and Flutter were all quite the powerhouse, but right now there are very few mons where I feel like I am going to lose something every time they switch in. I tried to make a team with mostly choice...
  9. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

This was my first time trying for a suspect test, but getting reqs has been brutal. I have tried several different team structures and cores but can rarely make it past 8 games without eating multiple losses. I started with a team that was 8-1 or so before the suspect test and that ended up...
  10. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I ran Scarf with Spikes/u-turn/flower trick/knock prior to the dolphin/bundle bans. Trying to recreate then gen 7 Gren magic. It was pretty consistent at pressuring stuff and was a good revenge killer for those two targets in particular. Felt like I never clicked spikes

Just run hyper offense they said. Lose the first 3 games everytime in a row. HO has never been my style but the screens+cylcizar+4 sweepers strat has been way less consistent on low ladder than I would like
  12. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I was considering adding a Glaceon to my in game team, but this thread has killed any interest I had in that. Glaceon has been NU or lower every generation it has been in the game. That is not going to change regardless of how excited two posters are. A slow, specially attacking ice with poor...
  13. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

Hyper offense is def really strong right now but don't think it means other playstyles are unviable. Ive gotten walked over by better players than me running BO or Stall. Its not always espartha speed boost go brrrr. I was never much of a stall player so can't say much for how to do that...

Thoughts on two mons: First, Glimmora is easily my favorite mon this gen. I've mostly used the hazards set, but it has a wide enough movepool to do quite a bit of other things. The typing isn't too bad defensively and this thing is just made to set hazards. Love this mon. Also one of the core...

I dont disagree with this at all. I just wanted to compare the two moves and I think you really articulate why Revival Blessing feels uncompetitive. The cost is almost nonexistent.
  16. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I have already made one post on Revival Blessing but have some additional thoughts to add. To me, the move that is most comparable to Revival Blessing is Healing Wish/Lunar Dance. They have a similar effect in giving a sweeper a second chance to get in the game. Healing Wish clearly gives you a...
  17. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

After having played around with it in this and a few other formats, Revival Blessing feels like it is not broken. Bringing a mon (usually a frail one) back at 50% can be dealt with in a lot of situations. The two users of this move are fringe viable as is, with Rabsca strictly on TR and Pawmot...
  18. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I have tried it with DD Normal Dragonite and NP Chi-yu so far, but right now I think it is difficult to separate which of three things are making sweepers broken right now. First, there is Shed Tail, which makes it much easier to get these mons in. I think the Cyclizar discussion has been...
  19. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

I havent read all the way through this thread so forgive me if someone has brought this up before. One difficulty I have had with Tera from a team building perspective is that it has been pushing me away from balance teams when I build them. This might be an issue with my approach, but I have...
  20. Metagame SV OU Metagame Discussion

Palafin is all manner of ridiculous. The BU set with jet punch is really strong. I have won a few games I had no business of winning by just bringing in citizen form, swapping out to sac something and just spamming jet/drain punch for game. The most consistent check I have had against it has...
