Gen 2 1.1.4.6.18 (Mono-Lax Blissey Stall)

See https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/gsc-ou-team-classification-system.3668505/ for team shorthand classification explanation.

This is a Blissey stall team, offensively centered around Snorlax’s prowess. In this case specifically it’s LK MonoLax, and giving it as many and as prolonged a chance to sweep is the offensive plan. Defensively Skarm/Bliss/Zap is just a hell of a defensive core that doesn’t really die. Lead can be either of Zapdos or Snorlax.

:gs/snorlax:
Snorlax – Double-Edge , Lovely Kiss , Belly Drum , Rest

Ah, LK MonoLax. Once again the star of the show, and an absolute juggernaut of a mon. You want to land Lovely Kiss on their normal resist phazer, and leave the specialized Tyranitar set below to remove the ghost. In practice this means you can get a good opportunity just by lovely kissing immediately, as opponents will use the normal resist phazer as a first look more often than not, as opposed to their ghost, as they don’t want to just run their Gengar into a potential Earthquake. Heal Bell Blissey has good synergy with DrumLax, but Belly Drum is a move to be careful with, due to it cutting your health, and leaving it in 2HKO range or worse in different circumstances. I’ve used an alternative set of LK CurseLax, and that has worked as a slower, but more solid option, but it doesn’t necessarily break through every team, and can leave you reliant on stalling. Thoughts on which set is better for this team are appreciated.

:gs/zapdos:
Zapdos – Thunder , Hidden Power Ice , Sleep Talk , Rest

Bulky beast bird. Hard as hell to kill, when it isn’t being utterly stupid. On this team, it’s an essential check to Machamp, which otherwise absolutely murders this team. Best approach is to toxic it before hand with Skarm. It may even be worth it to sac Cloy to get that toxic off, Champ is really a big threat to the team. Odds are usually in your favor if you haven’t switched in on a rock slide, lol.

:gs/blissey:
Blissey – Flamethrower , Toxic , Heal Bell , Soft-Boiled

Awesome support mon for this team. Go to switch in for electrics, and completely nullifies them, barring extreme luck. Be aware that Heal Bell only has 8 pp, so you need to keep in mind it has both defensive utilities to reset the status conditions / sleep, as well as recharging your Lax if you’re running DrumLax. Flamethrower is great, as it prevents Steelix from trying to switch in and set up on you, or Forry spiking or spinning. It also deters Jynx from staying in and trying to fish for freeze on Blissey that way. Keep in mind that Blissey’s bulk means you don’t immediately have to run against every physical attacker. Something like Golem Earthquake doesn’t 2HKO Blissey, so that’s time you can drop a crucial toxic on it.

:gs/skarmory:
Skarmory – Drill Peck , Curse , Toxic , Rest

Great defensive partner to Blissey, forming the famed SkarmBliss, however Skarm needs to be wary of mixed Lax options of Fire Blast and Thunder. If you take one of those moves, it can be a struggle to find a window to rest, then heal bell with Blissey, to maintain Skarm’s utility, if necessary. Toxic will usually hit an electric, like Zapdos. This is great, because it significantly deters Zapdos’s willingness to try and take on a Double Edge Lax. Curse set is necessary to beat last mon CurseLax.

:gs/tyranitar:
Tyranitar – Rock Slide , Crunch , Pursuit , Roar

Mixed utility Tyranitar with Crunch. Crunch is there to checkmate almost all ghosts, including Misdreavus, for Mono Lax. It will also be able to catch psychics trying to “be cute” thinking they can stay in and live against Pursuit. Nah fam. Against a fire version of lax, it can be a good idea to get a toxic off on it, with Cloyster, instead of taking it on directly with Ttar, because you need to preserve its health to remove ghosts, but this will depend on matchup / situation.

:gs/cloyster:
Cloyster – Spikes , Surf , Toxic , Rapid Spin

The don of spikes. Rapid spin is used on this team over explosion to fit the stall ideology. This means that the power of its defensive explosion is no longer available. In these situations, it is essential to be proactive in getting toxic on whatever threats you foresee being a problem. Bluffing explosion will only get you so far, because many times you will need to get your spin off relatively early in the game to support your defensive core, and Cloyster cannot run explosion and rapid spin on the same set.

Alt – Curse for Drum Lax

Here’s some random reps.

You are only allowed to post one new team every 2 weeks, which is clearly stated in the rules so I am going to be locking this and the other thread. I'll unlock this one in 2 weeks and the other 2 weeks following that. Please read the rules carefully, if you want to mass post teams I recommend looking for an old gen hub for the tier if it exists.
