:sv/ogerpon-cornerstone: :sv/scizor-mega: :sv/heatran: :sv/roaring-moon: :sv/landorus-therian: :sv/urshifu-rapid-strike:

I. INTRODUCTION
hi guys its me boppydop back with another rmt. its 2025, ndwc starting up, and hit my highest peak yet so im here to share a super fire team ive been having tons of fun with. not much to say except i love my national dex and ban gliscor

II. TEAMBUILDING PROCRESS

:ogerpon-cornerstone: :scizor-mega:
this idea actually came from MurderousMantyke in nd room, and i was pretty interested in the synergy between the two as rockpon is very difficult to check when given a setup opportunity, which is provided by msciz luring in birds and fires and also checking rkillers like mlop.

:ogerpon-cornerstone: :scizor-mega: :heatran:
i knew heatran was a good partner to msciz that could provide rocks and blanket spdef check effectively

:ogerpon-cornerstone: :scizor-mega: :heatran: :zamazenta: :roaring-moon:
zama initially was used as our speed control while roaring moon was added for mainly its defensive utility against chary and pon

:ogerpon-cornerstone: :scizor-mega: :heatran: :roaring-moon: :landorus-therian: :urshifu-rapid-strike:
zama was switched out for shifu for a better speed tier and typing, and landorus was added for a blanket phys check alongside msciz and defog which is crucial for rockpon

III. THE TEAM

:sv/ogerpon-cornerstone:
SORRY NOT SORRY (Ogerpon-Cornerstone) (F) @ Cornerstone Mask
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Power Whip
- Superpower

rockpon commonly gets overshadowed by waterpon, but as more people prep for pon by using dragons+ferro and the such i think that rockpon actually has a very significant and unique niche. being an offensive rock type means you have an upper hand versus annoying birds such as chary and zapdos, and once you abuse that for setup due to msciz and pivoting from shifu lando then rockpon really gets to pop off. superpower hits a variety of targets such as melm ferro and picking up the ohko on terap.

+2 252 Atk Cornerstone Mask Ogerpon-Cornerstone Power Whip vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 357-420 (101.4 - 119.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

:sv/scizor-mega:
praise the lord (Scizor-Mega) @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 248 HP / 112 Def / 128 SpD / 20 Spe
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Roost

a fantastic partner to rockpon, msciz here is a wincon that also provides priority, knock off, and defensive utility with recovery. it's superior bulk with sd allows it to easily setup versus tusk alo and gliscor, while also being able to repeatedly check various threats such as mlop, lele, non flame terap, weavile, and mdia that try to revenge ogerpon or non boosted rmoon. knock secures progress versus the ever annoying corv and pex while removing the items against a multitude of mons such as lando, zap, and ferro. bp gives us priority that can help revenge weakened zamazenta and rmoon.

:sv/heatran:
la FLEUR* (Heatran) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 220 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock

heatran and msciz make for a fantastic dual steel core that makes the matchup against a majority of special attackers much easier, being able to switch into and threaten volcarona, raging bolt, specs lele and gholdengo, and serving as our clefable and passive of the like counter and trapper. toxic forces progress against these sweepers while also chipping down mola and grounds like lando and tusk on the switch, and sr is mandatory especially with knock off support from msciz. generally consistent mon that offers valuable resists and acts as a blanket spdef check, while also being our only way to harm idef corv/skarm.

:sv/roaring-moon:
dark thoughts (Roaring Moon) @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Roost

roaring moon was chosen primarily for it's unique defensive utilities paired with roost, but with dragon dance making for an interesting set it proves to be a dangerous wincon as well. roost allows it to check threats like heatran, chary, and hsam, while also providing unique scenarios(such as tusk hlr and roosting off the damage for the defense drop) which come in useful when trying to setup. dragon dance paired with dark z crunch is quite rare but can prove to be powerful, offering a general large power boost against multiple targets such as ferro and zap and providing a quick ohko on chary and lele. eq hits gambit, mdia, and occasionally mons like mtar.

+1 252 Atk Roaring Moon Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 330-388 (93.7 - 110.2%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Roaring Moon Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 32 Def Landorus-Therian: 289-342 (75.6 - 89.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 Atk Roaring Moon Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 80+ Def Ferrothorn: 279-328 (79.2 - 93.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252 Atk Roaring Moon Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 188+ Def Zapdos: 349-412 (91.1 - 107.5%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

:sv/landorus-therian:
man at the garden (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 32 Def / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- U-turn
- Taunt
- Defog

arguable one of the most important members of the team, lando acts as our ground and flying type while also being a phys blanket check with contact punishment that can pivot and defog. with rhelm and uturn, you can pivot off and naturally deal a lot of chip damage to several physical attackers such as rmoon. ep allows us to deal more damage versus tusk, ignore burns, and, most importantly, beat idbp zama. taunt blocks recovery from corv and the like, while defog allows us to remove hazards which is especially important for rockpon's sturdy.

:sv/urshifu-rapid-strike:
one dance (Urshifu-Rapid-Strike) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Unseen Fist
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Ice Spinner

extremely important teammate here, shifu is an excellent choice for speed control and revenge killer that can also pivot into rockpon after inviting waters like alo. sstrikes' crits can break through idbp zama given the chip(usually offered by lando). unseen fist also comes in use versus tect gliscor, being the only member of the team that can harm it unboosted. it's typing also assists the team in checking multiple different targets, such as kgb and volcarona.

IV. THREATS & USAGE TIPS

as offense is, this team has some bad mu's that can be very difficult to play against.

:gliscor: :toxapex: by far the most concerning, toxic gliscor and similar anti-offense teams are a massive danger to this team, as they can easily stack hazards, toxic, and stall out many members of the team. try using rmoon or rockpon to break early, and play conservative, it is a winnable mu.
:pelipper: rain is, as you can expect, quite the annoyance, as we don't have the defensive utility to repeatedly take on rain's breakers such as archa or mpert. luckily, rain isn't popular atm, but in the mu you can try to break using rockpon early and secure the win with roost rmoon.
:corviknight: :skarmory: :zamazenta: idbp variants of these are also a threat and require keeping heatran/lando as healthy as possible, but usually that with proactive play and healthy shifu doesn't make it too much of a deal.
:lopunny-mega: :sableye-mega: as you can tell, all of these are anti-offense and naturally give this team a hard time, so you can also expect other anti-offense utility such as double priority mlop or niche stall variants to also give this team difficulty.

  • use defog. one of the most important parts of this team is the crutches in place set by rockpon's sturdy. being able to revenge threats like rmoon and volcarona without fear of being outsped and ohko'd makes the opposing offense/ho mu much easier
  • force progress. what i mean by this is that don't play passive and wait for opportunities to come by where you can break, this team does not have the sufficient longevity. set rocks, click knock, and make doubles. always play proactive and constantly apply pressure. giving the opp free turns is where you lose
V. REPLAYS & PEAK

i managed to peak 1923 with this team, which places me at #6
