1k blah blah blah

I don't remember when the sun died. I just woke up one day and it was gone, and everyone else with it. The sky was pitch black, yet every single electrical appliance was up and running, even though as I'd later discover there was no one manning the power stations. And more eerily, the cars were running by themeselves. Ghastly creatures, driving at a decent clip down roads to destinations uknown, their piercing eyes glancing at me before passing me. Occasionally a cement truck or a school bus would slide past me, giant behemoths that paid no attention to me. After some time. I started to believe that the cars had become sentient.

I tried to follow them, but could never get onto the highway, which was filled with cars moving at an incredible rate. They never crashed or slowed down or stopped to back up. I couldn't venture onto the highway because it was clear to see that I would be run over and killed instantly. So I turned back and kept riding my bike.

I realized after a long while that I had been traveling for quite some time and yet was not the least bit tired or hungry. I then began to question how long I had been travelling, and out of boredom began to count off the seconds in my head. It was only after I had reached an absurdly high number without having to stop to rest and without seeing any other humans that I bothered to calculate how long it had been.

To my astonishment, I had been riding for over a full month without stop.
I found it a little hard to believe, but somehow I had become immortal. I kept riding, desperately hoping to find somebody else who was still alive. An eternity in a world like this would probably not be pleasant.

Eventually I forced myself to enter one of the ominous well-lit buildings. I don't know why but they completely unnerved me. I chose a school as it was the closest building with some sort of internet access. I went onto every message board I can think of. They always said the same thing.

Every chat room, every site, all empty. I left message after message, hoping that I would eventually find somebody. But a year passed without response. I succumbed to despair and sat in a fetal position for a good month or so, since this whole time I had not stopped counting in my head. I felt it was the only thing keeping me sane.

Eventually I pulled myself together. I decided to learn everything I could. I spent millenia reading and memorizing everything ever written. But it was useless information, all of it. The old world was dead and its knowledge was pointless.

I knew that I had only one option left.

The cars had been circling the parking lots of the school regularly this whole time. I braced myself, knowing that if I didn't do something soon I would descend into total raving madness.

A car pulled up to me.
I opened the door.
Got on the floor.
Everybody walk the dinosaur.
(Yes I know cookie already used walk the dinosaur as a bait-and-switch shut up)

So, here I am a 1000 posts and a handful of name changes after joining this site. I've certainly come farther than I expected to when I initially joined. I definitely plan to stick around for a long while. The community here is great, and it's nice to be able to say "I'm a part of something big". That's really what has kept me around for so long, the community. But anyway I'm sure you're tired of reading what I have to say so if you actually read this far go ahead and ctrl + f your name now.
