Alright, here’s the plan for 1v1 resources.
Viability Rankings: With PL coming to an end soon and the metagame shifting from the somewhat recent Ogerpon-Hearthflame ban, there is a lot of work to do on the Viability Rankings. As of today, VR council will be picking up work again and start putting out their votes to get the VR up to date as soon as possible. Once all the votes are in, we will post the shifts on Smogon, and we will continue to post shifts at the start of every month. We're also making some systematic changes to make sure the VR stays up to date. First, if a VR Council member has not made any major updates in over three months, their votes will stop counting towards the VR until they're updated. Second, to make the sheet more representative of the views of the council as a whole, Pokémon will be added to the sheet through a nomination process. Pokémon that have been unranked for 3 consecutive months are removed from the sheet, and must be nominated again to be re-added. We encourage everybody to nominate Pokemon they believe should be ranked or in a different rank in the Viability Rankings thread. A well-structured post goes a long way to help VR council make informed decisions. Remember to also include some reasoning and some calcs/replays to back up your argument.
Sample Teams: Not a whole lot is changing here for now, but there will need to be an update here given that the metagame has changed quite a bit since the last one. Once everything related to the VR Council is figured out, we will vote on new Sample Teams. Feel free to submit any teams you think could be sample worthy here. Make sure to read everything over before you submit.
Sets Database: Let's get this out of the way, we're changing the name from Sets Compendium to Sets Database. Although this seems like a small change, we believe it'll be much easier to understand for people not familiar with the lingo, which is especially relevant now that resources are visible in the teambuilder. As for the actual changes, we want to make the Sets Database easier to understand for beginners, and hopefully get it completed sooner. To do this, we are taking inspiration from a few old gens and splitting up the Sets Database into two: a Condensed Database and an Extended Database. Along with this we're also bringing the EV explanation up to standard, making sure all benchmarks are listed and distinguishing between sets on the Condensed and Extended Databases.
Condensed Database: The Condensed Database is what we will be focusing on first. It will exclusively have the main meta sets for all of the Pokemon on the Viability Rankings. We've already prepared a list of sets for the Condensed Database, and will be posting it on the sets database smogon thread for review.
Extended Database: When the Condensed Database is in a usable state, it's time to move on to the Extended Database. Notably this database will not be limited to just Pokémon on the VR, and may also feature more niche sets and spreads that don't quite fit in the Condensed Database. We are very open to community input on sets that could potentially make it onto the Extended Database, which can be posted on the aforementioned smogon thread. Do make sure to include EV explanations, otherwise we'll have to remake your set from scratch.
Well here’s all of my current plans. If you have any questions about any of this, feel free to DM me or Felucia.
