Welcome all to the semifinals of the seventh annual World Cup of 1v1. Who will rise to the top in the tournament of nations? It's time to find out!​



Rules:

  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • If metagame changes occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect in the subsequent round.
  • Battles must take place on either Smogtours or Pokemon Showdown!
  • Replays are required. Any win post without replays will not be counted

  • On Substitution:
    • If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to us or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
    • When making a substitution, please the host team, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware.
    • Keep in mind once a player is subbed out, they cannot be subbed back into the same round, but can be put back onto the roster for next round.
    • Substitutions will not be allowed in tiebreak series unless both teams agree (or TDs enforce double sub). We will be reluctant to give activity wins to those who are clearly fishing for them.

  • On Sportsmanship:
    • Note the sportsmanship infraction may be used liberally this 1v1 WC, and any unsportsmanlike conduct on the forums, in the tours or 1v1 discord will be grounds for an infraction.
Deadlines:

All battles are to be completed by Sunday, December 10th, 2023 at 11:59 PM EST (GMT-5).
Battles that are not completed will be reviewed for activity and have a winner declared accordingly. If both parties are at fault, the game will simply not count in deciding final standing.

SV Bo7: delemon vs. DripLegend - arguably delemon is a better player in the current sv format but in a h2h in playoffs i think drip is likelier to win + law of averages from their pl matchup. highlight match.
SV Bo5: Career Ended vs. Despacito87 - better clicker? + likely higher quality of teams, more established player
SV Bo5: bea vs. Fancy1 - no hyperventilation allowed.
SV Bo5: AlyssaVGC vs. spoo - more established player, also no hyperventilation allowed x2
SS Bo5: Mishlef vs. XanderUrBoi - no hyperventilation allowed x3 but I'd pick Xander as likelier to win
SM Bo5: Notater vs. Rellia - better teams this tour, decisive series first time round
ORAS Bo5: Mubs vs. Sanshokuinsumireko - bolding mubs for breaking out of older usage and clicking more confidently this tour; feels like a matchup dictated by whoever preps better so will enjoy watching
BW Bo5: Freddy Kyogre vs. Urfgurgle - urf over this calendar year has been really good in bw as far as teamtours go and I expect that form to continue here

SV Bo7: RTM vs cold illusions - probably goes to 6 or 7, I trust RTM more in a close series
SV Bo5: DEG vs Liimpy - while deg was in the harder pool, I think liimpy's confidence after a 4-0 start will be enough to win
SV Bo5: Baleblaze vs Piyush25 - gut feeling of an upset here
SV Bo5: Palestine vs RaJ.Shoot - better support, taking a 4-0 player out of sm is interesting
SS Bo5: bored_glitch vs Arvinraj K lll C - better player despite arvin having a better record
SM Bo5: Bopher vs frostyicelad - much better player, shouldn't be too close
ORAS Bo5: LittEleven vs pj - I could see an upset here, but I trust litt in 5
BW Bo5: Kaif vs NTG Cuz IDK - both players move to bw after 1-2/1-3 starts, I'll go with experience here

SV Bo7: delemon vs DripLegend - highlight match for sure; delemon is the best sv player right now, likely goes to 7 with delemon winning at least one matchup he's not supposed to win
SV Bo5: Career Ended vs Despacito87 - slight upset here; both teams have good sv support, and despacito is 3-0 in 5 game series. I trust despacito in a close series
SV Bo5: bea vs Fancy1 - better player + better pools performance, should win if nerves don't get in the way
SV Bo5: AlyssaVGC vs spoo - more sv experience
SS Bo5: Mishlef vs XanderUrBoi - clutch factor in a close series
SM Bo5: Notater vs Rellia - don't think notater will win the rematch, rellia has had an impressive tour so far
ORAS Bo5: Mubs vs Sanshokuinsumireko - highlight match, tough game to pick; it's difficult to come off the bench and win a playoff game, especially against a great player, but I think sansho wins a close one. this series likely will determine who goes to finals/if there's a tiebreak
BW Bo5: Freddy Kyogre vs Urfgurgle - urf has been very impressive in bw, I don't think freddy wins the rematch

SV Bo7: RTM vs cold illusions - Both players have been positive, while PG has improved from PL, RTM has been keeping his good form from a long time. I will definitely see a very close match which can go to 7 games, and rtm has an ability to clutch those games so I will be bolding him.
SV Bo5: DEG vs Liimpy - Liimpy might have been amazing during pools, but DEG is a brick wall which I am uncertain if he will break or not, still bolding liimpy because he has potential and deg has a classic finals to prep as well.
SV Bo5: Baleblaze vs Piyush25 - Baleblaze is more experienced, and my personal bias towards him makes me bold him
SV Bo5: Palestine vs Raj.Shoot - Both are superb pilots but india's sv building is more highlighted, also why taking out a 4-0 player out of the slot they 4-0'd?? palestine can clutch it though with enough team support
SS Bo5: bored_glitch vs Arvinraj K lll C - glitch might be a much better builder and clicker but arvin is much better at living life(doesnt theorycraft ss teams irl on paper)
SM Bo5: Bopher vs frostyicelad - frosty had a good ogpl but bopher is straight up better than him. frosty has insane support though
ORAS Bo5: LittEleven vs pj - Mainer difference but pj can outclick
BW Bo5: Kaif vs NTG Cuz IDK - if this was any other person in asia vs any other person in india, asia would have entirely dominated. Also funnily enough asia was against india for two slots during pools, the losers of those two slots somehow ran to bw to face each other, personal bias makes me bold ntg but kaif is defo a better player.

Realaccountami!? vs. Elo Bandit - Both are some of the best monopoke players, I cheer for rami though.

SV Bo7: delemon vs DripLegend - delemon is the best sv player, however driplegend has improved so much it can result into either of them winning
SV Bo5: Career Ended vs Despacito87 - Despacito87 has had good showing as of late, same true for career ended. Career ended is more experienced but gut feeling says despacito wins
SV Bo5: bea vs Fancy1 - both are really good but bea has had beatter performances in the past, i cheer for fancy though
SV Bo5: AlyssaVGC vs spoo - alyssa would build a triple choice 5 minutes before the match and just outclick
SS Bo5: Mishlef vs XanderUrBoi - Niagara has a strong SS support but Xander's self sufficiency is good enough
SM Bo5: Notater vs Rellia - It isnt as one way as people think, notater can clutch matches like these, whether by building good teams(and with quality over quantity) or outclicking
ORAS Bo5: Mubs vs Sanshokuinsumireko - This matchup can go anyways. Also sansho suddenly getting thrown into the lineups during playoffs with no prior perfomance or practice during pools kinda tilts the matchup more favoured towards mubs.
BW Bo5: Freddy Kyogre vs Urfgurgle - urfgurgle has had a great tour and has already defeated freddy during the pools phase

D2 definitely wins against whoever playing monopoke for niagara
