walls darm-g, haxorus, sawk, basically any physical attacker without a type advantage, and crabhammer’s crit ratio gives kingler the chance to break through opposing walls after a few swords dance boosts
I built so much FWG for SS and I wanted to talk about some of my favorites. (Ignore that most of these aren't actual FWG) An Oven and His Owl
This team is heat, stall Rotom-H, Gyara, and Decidueye. It's really just standard FWG but Gyara alleviates any potential dragon problem and Decidueye is the dedicated fuck-kyu mon. It's pretty fun I use it in friendlies, I didn't end up bringing it against Crucify as I didn't sort my stuff properly and it didn't really seem like a team for smely socks. But yeah it's an opportunity to use Gyara and Decidueye, which is kasib for kyu. Real FWG
Melt lugg and you have a water type so this counts. This was the first real team I built with Avalugg and although Primarina is the go-to for an offensive water Avalugg does the same job of beatings grasses and in this case Incin. This meant that the team needed to pick up the slack for Avalugg not beating Fire types namely Arcanine and Rotom-H. Chandelure should pick up the slack but idk I haven't tested it that much and my Rotom-M ended up getting crit by a Weezing-G, a 50/50 chance so Morpeko luck didn't pull through. Phil Remington
Also not a FWG for some reason I always build FWG w/o W. I love this team because I can use my fav mon Red Darm. Flare Blitz is ludicrously strong and Trick and so nice, please pass me Red Darm teams. But this team also features the lovely band Rillaboom. The basic idea of this team is two choice mons that are both very strong and complementary. Rilla+Red Darm was very weak to Hax and other Darm so I used the heat that is Torment Steelix. Although this team is kinda outdated since the invention of SD Hax demolishes this team for the brief period this thing was viable on ladder I had so much fun w/ this team and maybe w/ some tweaking it could be good. Standard FWG
I wanted something reliable for smely socks and I think this is it. This is incredibly standard FWG, Scarf Red Darm, WP Prim, and Rilla. Not much else to say this is just some very solid FWG.
I may do a proper dump later but idk why anyone would want zio teams
This team looks like it loses to kommo-o, but I use mirror coat to let serp have a pretty good chance if the kommo-o isn’t expecting it. Blacephalon beats a lot of the stall mons serp had with leaf storm.

This was sub metagross to beat things like counter crustle, belly drum zard is fun too. I don’t think I ended up using this team because it loses to fini.

This team I brought twice in my series vs Gym Socks. I really love Cosmic Power Rest Jirachi as it can catch a lot of Pokemon totally by surprise. I’ve been known to have a slight preference towards Kyurem. I used Bisharp as the main focus of this team as at the time, I was finishing up my Bisharp analysis QCs.

This is a team I built around Custap Berry Manaphy. I wanted to lure magearna and meloetta, so I used Bulldoze Mega Steelix, which is in fact, really cool. Spdef Kommo-o to round it out.

I wanted to use Scarf Melo + Chople Kyurem-B so badly. I ended up adding toxic to KyuB for Suicune, and when I brought it against Simbo, I actually got to play and win that matchup. Metagross to do things.
This team has gotten some use by quite a few players in this tour. It’s one of my first DPP teams that I was really proud of. I got the idea of Custap HP Ice Torterra from my teammate Yami, and I decided to optimize its EVs. I know it has some bad matchups, but overall I think the team was successful in this tournament.
This one notoriously beat a mono ground team and lost to a mono steel.

Avalugg+Rotom form a ridiculously good core and both can very viably run either a choiced or stall set. I chose to build 6 permutations even though the PL audience only saw a couple.
This team turned out to be a riot. I was proud of this Mamoswine going into things but when it got set against a Dusclops the Substitute+Knock Off tech (originally for Corsola) shone bright.

I'd used both Mr. Mime and Persian once before and considered them to be pretty decent. It hit me that both stallbreak fairly well, Mr. Mime blanket checks special attackers, and Persian blanket checks physical attackers. Settled on Scarf Prima for a third mon and ended up with something that still makes me smile.

Waylaid is solely to blame for this. He told me to build around Orbeetle, so as one does, I spent two hours building Orbeetle sets and was bitterly disappointed but not surprised by what a bad mon it is. Regardless, I used it and also had some fun with the superior Jirachi and Tyranitar sets.

Wow, I really did some good prep this week. One tends to end up with meth when they build at 4 AM instead of 4 PM, I suppose. This team ended up netting a win with a bit of accidental innovation in the form of this Gengar set which I built as a wonky third mon but turned out to be a lot more widely viable.

I built this one for smely socks to use in week 7. Roseli Iron Head Kyurem is a really sweet Fairy lure and Gunk Shot Obstagoon picks up the few that it misses. Probably the most multi-faceted lure I've built into a team before building the following team. This is also where I built this Hitmonlee for the first time which has turned out to be pretty damn good.

This team baits Steelix with Kee Charm Togekiss, Jirachi and Durant with Zen Darm, and Aegislash with triple status Scarf Gardevoir. There's no explicit lures for Corviknight or Excadrill but the team manages to cover them too and it's worth noting that the Corviknight counter on this team is not Band Darm as expected but Togekiss.

I made a bunch of teams for ORAS this tour, a lot of which were garbage, but they served me well regardless. Prior to this tour I really didn't have much experience with building, and I was terrible at it, but I feel that I seriously developed that skill through this PL, and truly learned to enjoy it.
All teams here were made by me, I also used a lot of teams that were made by others or with help from others. Don't think you're getting my whole builder though, just some things I want to showcase.
Built this for week 7 to use in later games, but unfortunately my own lack of practice and time that week caused the series to end rather quickly. Gengar was something that Alice pushed me to use, and AV Conk let me cover common darks and steels that completely walled Gengar. Zard-X cleaned up shaky matchups like dnite, sab, and mawile. Max SpD on conk wins against 100% of PZs, and you really don't need much attack to KO most of what you want to hit. Wish I could've used this, was fun in tests, hopefully someone else has some fun with it!
Inspired largely by Joker using the gen8 Sylveon set to beat me the week prior, and my burning desire to use this mon against the pults, I decided to try the set for myself. Scarf Eruption Heatran outspeeds base 100s, and was something LittleRunnerXC had mentioned to me in prior weeks, and it seemed like a fun way to beat steels for Sylv, as well as winning more matchups overall by virtue of sheer damage. Bulky water type seemed like the clear choice for a 3rd, and pert filled that hole perfectly.

Easily my favorite team of the entire tour, I built this during week 2 and used it a few times after that as well. Very slow team, which makes crits infuriating, but overall very solid if you can pick well. Registeel is teched to beat Mega Lop, Heatran, and Zard-X if you play it right - imo a very underrated mon in the gen6 meta, as it beats the majority of the common threats.
Azumarill @ Assault Vest

Oops, it's another registeel. Much more offensive options here, AV azu is one of my fav mons by far and it covers fire and fighting types for regi, Zard-Y cleans up remaining holes like Sab and brings a lot of flexibility to the table on preview.
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Yes, I built a team that autoloses to zardx and brought it to a tour set. Somehow worked out fine. Had a lot of fun with this team in some friendly sets too, Jirachi is insane and everyone ought to try their luck at least once. Serperior is another heavily underrated threat in gen6 imo, and I think it has a lot of potential if someone takes the time to make a far better team than I did.
Gallade (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified

I made this at 2am, and it shows. I stand by the p2 set though, running pure offense on a mon that bulky really does a ton of damage in this meta, barring hax. Hopefully someone will take it and refine it a bit.
Tyranitar-Mega @ Tyranitarite

Really wish I had used malt more in this tour, I think it's an extremely fun mon and extremely solid in the meta right now. This set is probably not optimized, but just overall more people need to try it out.
I don't think I'll be playing in world cup as I'm going to be somewhat busy this summer, and I don't think the tour is worth the time I would dedicate, but I am looking forward to building more for Classic later in the year, and hopefully for smaller tours and just for fun. Love this meta, can't wait to watch it continue to grow~
uhh just gonna post some dpp teams/ sets that I thought were cool but never used
: DPP
team I never got to use but decided to make around charti berry zap which imo is a great set fr luring aeros and beats hera https://pokepast.es/b2a8dd99cfdf38a1
Hariyama DPP
okay so probs my fav invention
it was able to live scarf giga impact from shaking, Jirachi w/o flinches, specs draco meteor from Kingdra, Reversal Heracross with Bullet Punch, CB flygon and all Rotoms so it was p cool but for some reason didn't use a lot. https://pokepast.es/f85747efef63981f
DPP
used against joe and got unlucky but I thought was a p cool team was built around band Flygon with Aerial Ace since I wanted to get rid of Hera out of the way and just built around p solid honestly. https://pokepast.es/cda63d161571340b
DPP
alright so this zap set was rlly interesting syno introduced me to it earlier and thought how nice it was to fuck aeros since pp pressure aero was increasing in usage at the time and then decided I wanted to build around it regirock is a cool mon with chople can deal with a lot of mons as a result like band nape etc. https://pokepast.es/f224d1b03571bec6
Shuca Rachi
at the time during w2 i was thinking about Yache Dnite and i was like hm whats a good lure and came across Shuca Rachi it actually planned to do a lot more than expected being able to handle dnite/pert/rhyp/hippo etc never got to use it tho but eh it was a cool idea. https://pokepast.es/47cdbf0ee4118ac9
DPP
Kaif one time while testing revealed the power of Specs Togekiss and decided to make a better Togekiss spread around it and then cped and changed a few stuff but rlly solid some other ppl like Yami used it so yh its good. toge spread takes specs Gengar and with Hidden Power Ice beats Band Dnite as it takes Band Outrage and finally beats all TTars as it lives Scarf Edge and also creeps Band TTar. https://pokepast.es/153cd06824536bec
Tang + Cune Core DPP
not much thoughts really just built around Tangrowth and other Bulky Pokemon kinda struggles against Taunt Aero but can be dealt with via icy wind Suicune + Mindgames. https://pokepast.es/658eb7c82bb0abff
DPP
This was built around Charm Umbreon a cool mon that i thought was nice for dnite at the time and just built as per usual came out alright tho has a few weaknesses tho. https://pokepast.es/5492d1ba9ba10207
Band Lax + Cune Offense DPP
there's gonna be at least one lax team right so i had band lax p strong mon i thought w1 then i got rotom-frost handles fighting-types bar infernape fr it which is when cune came in it was p decent honestly but decided to stir away from it ltr to try other stuff. rotom-h creeps aero and other def is fr smth i forgot but will figure by the end of this post. https://pokepast.es/11b957a83a491c77
I'm not planning on making a big post for this thread, at least until my team is out, but after reading Nalei's VR noms, I wanted to bring up a Dragapult set I used in Premier League that Nalei didn't mention. Meet Physical SubDisable.
So this set brings the best of SubDisable and the best of Choice band. The combination of Haban and Dragon Darts is very strong for beating other Haban dragons. Use DDance on their Dragon-type move, then Dragon Darts. The first hit breaks the Haban, so the second hit hits for full damage. But it can also do the classic SubDisable to beat Choice locked Pokemon like Sawk and Steelix.
NYAHALLOOOOO, are you tired of mediocre to average teams posted here? Worry not buddies, I got you! I really had fun teambuilding ORAS with friends :3
g3 vs XStatic Cold. Paste
i don't really know what i was thinking when i build this, probably caffeine overdose, to say the least, it's probably one of my favorite teams, it's really fun to use. started with togekiss cause i enjoyed building with it on week 6 and i think it really deserve more spotlight. This set is used to check a bunch of strong spa attackers, notably both Charizard Y and Manaphy, i'll let you think of the sequence to use. victini patches steel-type weakness such as metagross and mawile, decided to use band 252+ attack cause i already used specs and av victini so i wanted to try something new, it also makes it super strong so that's it. sableye-mega got added as secondary metagross check and probably the dragon killer idr much but ye.
Paste
built this for gareth some week. it's the team that gets 3-0ed by garchomp but in reality it 3-0s garchomp. manectric is a v cool pokemon and underrated, i mean its rly not that amazing but it can defeat steel types like mawile and metagross, its also v effective against waters like mega gyarados, evs could use some tailoring but its a good spread. mawile-mega so i can defeat most spa attacks pz melo gren also defeats dragons and ttar is the fire check aka zard heatran, also check magnezone.
Paste
also for gareth iirc since it has same ttar set to lure in chomp, zone, and beat the standard bs. volcarona is a cooler and more underrated mega manec and i specifically used this set to say fuck you to lancer for telling me i'm weak to landorus lmao, charti berry lures in lando-i and boost+OH on it, it also beat things that u think it beats notably meta and mawile. metagross is another fuck you since it lives band landorus eq and kill with icepunch lool, it also lives and beat gyarados thanks to tpunch really cool bait well since its public its no longer a bait, probably live gren, but i think ttar does too, o ye it also beats manaphy.
Paste
least favorite team and im too lazy to write. prob do the shits u think they do.
Paste
emboar is ok, p weak to defensive zard beats non defensive zards, beat maw? idr i think it doesn't LOL but i mean i have metagross, beats heatran, genesect, well popular pokemon, fire/fight is cool. others do what they do.
Paste
more standard teams but it aesthetically looks good, i dig. terrakion is a threat to stay specially with the rise of registeel cores.
6 teams for 6 wins, there's def teams that are more interesting but i don't feel like revealing my hidden techs/evs maybe after wc if i play :)
I'm not making a hundred team descriptions but I felt like sharing some of the more dumb shit we resorted to throughout the season:
hippo was FIRE I think Week 3 we all brought it and swept all SWSH slots which was very cool, it lives Specs Dragapult and the HP + Rock Tomb means you can beat Crustle always by living counter and outspeeding the turn after or well it smashing and you winning anyway.
People spammed the shit out of that Venu set after I brought it and for good reason if you ask me, I consider this the best set it can run, Specs is also decent enough and Band kinda hangs on the more memey side of things but Venusaur as a whole was very underappreciated until that point and now it isn't anymore thankfully.
that toxt dying to specs chandy after a charge hurt a lot I shouldve calced that 1v1 but overall still p sweet set, the typing works really nicely in this meta
that should wrap it up for now, I did also try to give my players some less janky teams and mons but those are boring and the reason why so many people dont like SWSH 1v1, garbage barely feels rewarding unless you put a lot of though into it like I did with Hippo or just get obnoxiously lucky with matchups or something. Don't use yawn hippo, please
While my pl was really rocky due to some unfortunate irl things that happened a day before the 1v1pl draft because I got fired from my job and learned that my boss, ex bf, and my work "friends" were all two faced and acted very differently to me after I got fired. With me having no time to work though my emotions, I took my feelings out with raging, bitching at my opp and other things while playing this season. I would first before getting to my teams and sets I want to showcase to say sorry to everyone I took my feelings out on, it was not right, and I should have found another outlet to do so especially the first two weeks of 1v1pl. While I did turn around my 1v1pl with a 3-4, If I did not have all the irl drama and emotions to sort out, I would have gotten 5-2 more than likely. Thanks pqsNaleiLe Creme Brulesmely socksLkjcJoker 1v1TolavariceEriey for being really cool teammates and esp the captains pqsNalei for letting me use their pms to sort though my irl problems and made me find the silver lining.
On another note, here are some sets and teams I have built for this 1v1pl. I built about 100 teams this pl, which was mostly because I liked being overprepped then anything, but I will only share some of them here so I can use them for 1v1wc. I don't feel like explaining any of these, but if you have a question about a set or a team, pm me on discord Yami#0515.
First, I would like to dump some sets I did not use, but thought it was cool
Wailord @ Choice Scarf

These two (especially Jolteon) were a big part of my building, and won me many games. Both have flawes but are defo underused and i would love to see them more.
Some sets i built:
Electivire @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thunder Punch
- Earthquake
- Cross Chop
- Fire Punch
Speed is to outspeed Aero and Jolteon, you can even run Adamant which is huge
Regirock @ Choice Band
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 92 Atk / 12 Def / 156 SpD
Careful Nature

Regi was a blast to build around, and i think i found a really fire set.
It lives banded EQ from a Rhyp and some other benchmarks.

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Quiet Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SpA

This is pretty nice with hitting 340 speed and Overheat with 150 power at full health and Heatran is pretty strong in general
Gonna post a team dump since my SM part of the tour is done for.
I made a bunch of teams this PL. I tried to use at least one team a week with a core or Pokemon I had seen but never really used before in any serious way. Some teams were duds, others I'm rlly proud of. Most of the teams I made were made to cteam players, so I doubt all of them will be foolproof for mons B and above in VR.
I'll send the squads I like the most first
Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 SpD
Calm Nature
- Amnesia
- Iron Defense
- Rest
- Seismic Toss
Slaking @ Choice Band
Ability: Truant
EVs: 252 Atk / 92 SpD / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Giga Impact
- Ice Punch
- Hammer Arm
- Fire Punch
Slaking is always some good shit. It was never taken seriously until mid/late USUM, and the obscene power it presents, combined with a better speed tier than similar mon Diggersby, makes it uniquely situated to tear through bulky offense. Its the analysis spread with max attack, to help with dnite rolls. I am a fan of a stall bedrock on a team, in order to just generally beat sleep tech and other stall mons with more pp (mega slowbro in registeel's case). Tho, ngl, I kind of just threw subpetaya gren on there, and in hindsight I'm noticing its p weak to fightings like Sawk/Mega Blaziken, as well as GolPhan. The Registeel + Slaking core could potentially be improved on by replacing Gren with a mon that lures in fightings/grounds, but you can play around with that
Gyarados @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 8 HP / 208 Atk / 84 SpD / 208 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Bounce
- Waterfall
Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 108 HP / 220 Atk / 32 Def / 148 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Superpower
This was a Week 1 team, which was against ggopw, so I had a lot of motivation and a lot of ideas to make rlly clean squads. This team mirrors my last great ladder team that I built for USUM ladder, using it to top a couple of times. I figured I could reassemble Gyarados and Dragonite to be different, so that a player may think that I was using my old squad. A great lure I could make would be using Flyinium Gyarados, a tech I never seriously used before, to lure in grass mons, Mega Venusaur specifically, as my previous aforementioned team had an issue with Charm Mega Venusaur. I also replaced my scarfnite for bandnite, so I could have a better structure against opposing dnites, with my Mega Gyarados now gone. It ended up working out.
Burn Baby Burn (Charizard-Mega-Y) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 216 HP / 84 Def / 28 SpA / 180 Spe
Modest Nature
- Air Slash
- Solar Beam
- Blast Burn
- Flame Charge
Another Week 1 squad built for ggopw, this was based off a program team of the same team composition, which normally loses to Grassium Heatran. I was banking on him to either bring Grassium Heatran or think that I was passed a program team by my teammates and didn't recognize it. Named the Charizard Burn Baby Burn bc thats my normal Char x set, but ended up never having to use that kind of lure. In retrospect, relying on Scarf Lele as a Heatran answer wasn't the smartest, but it was still pretty hype to reveal the tech in the moment.
Manaphy @ Waterium Z
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 168 HP / 172 SpA / 96 SpD / 72 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Icy Wind
- Tail Glow
- Surf
- Energy Ball
Zygarde @ Groundium Z
Ability: Power Construct
EVs: 248 HP / 12 Atk / 248 Def
Impish Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Coil
- Extreme Speed
- Rest
This mainly is just I think a rlly solid team I made with a tech I theorycrafted in very late USUM. The Deoxys-S is bulky Specs with a timid nature, which lets you hit 460 speed - enough to outspeed and 2HKO/OHKO other Modest Specs Deoxys-S and Timid Porygon-Z. The bulk also lets you beat every Char X variant- you either OHKO no bulk, or you live an attack from spdef and 2HKO with Psycho Boost, even after the drop. Manaphy also is evd for PZ and (I think) Meloetta, so thats cool.
Victini @ Normalium Z
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 48 HP / 16 Atk / 212 SpA / 232 Spe
Rash Nature
- Celebrate
- Stored Power
- V-create
- Taunt
Zeraora @ Electrium Z
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 60 Atk / 168 SpA / 128 SpD / 152 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Charge
- Plasma Fists
- Thunder
- Fake Out
I really need to stop bringing teams 3-0ed by Scarf Porygon-Z lmao. But I'd be pretty fucking impressed if a tour player had the balls to click a mon that looks like it has 3 potential answers to (or at least w/ modest variants). Last of the Week 1 squads I'm particularly proud of, it utilized Normalium Victini as my semi-Char check, tho it has the potential to lose to 252/252 unsets. I never got to use Normalium Victini, but I'm pretty sure this squad is p nice.
Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Atk / 104 Def
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Taunt
I really love this team tbh. Using two techs that I never really used before, Mega Audino and Zapdos, I built this kind of semi-stall/bulky offense squad that I really enjoy. Mega Audino is spdef enough to boost up with Serperior as they Leaf Storm, and can outstall Registeel, with the HP ensuring that you take less than 25% with Seismic Toss so you win even if you lose the speed tie. Its designed to tear apart common tour squads (although it has an unfortunate weakness to Kew), and the aesthetic makes it look kind of intimidating at a glance, imo, like its so different from the standard core but using mons you know are good individually.
Everything Else - Theres like a dozen or so teams here. I wasn't very interested in anything else I made, tho I had a few clean techs I created that I'll mention at the end. Most of these are either kind of standard with only mediocre lures, or stuff built specifically for a certain player but isn't even really fun outside of that one player. They're probably all usable but may have super obvious weaknesses I didn't bother to iron out, bc I knew they would never use a certain mon or w/ever.
Individual Sets
Kommo-o @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Jab
- Rock Slide
- Close Combat
- Outrage
I've used this tech before in a tournament, in order to catch Rosa off guard, a long ass time ago. I honestly can't remember why I included it in the squad its on, but its super good at luring and beating mons like Whimsicott, normalium PZ, other kommo-o, and Char x, who usually just mega evolve and outrage turn 1.
Honestly I don't remember why exactly I made this tech - most of middle PL was a bit of a blur. I think I just wanted a Magearna that would beat other Magearna and laser focus meloetta/Mega Gardevoir in the 1v1, while also luring and beating grounds like garchomp. This is a pretty fringe cteam mon, but the dual use seems usable outside of the team i used it in.
I sent this set above, but I like it a lot so I'm sending it again. It tanks and 2HKOs spdef Char x, OHKOes offensive Char x, and with Timid nature outspeeds opposing Modest Deoxys-S and Timid Scarf PZ.
Genesect @ Assault Vest
Ability: Download
EVs: 252 Atk / 228 SpA / 28 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Electroweb
- Iron Head
- Bug Buzz
- Flamethrower
I made this in a fever dream, the intent was to create a Genesect that reliably beat magnezone. I think Iron Head was for clefable, but its all kind of a blur. Still, i think its a neat little tech, would have been fire if it was used.
And of course this majestic creature. I already made a nom post here explaining what Nidoking does, but I came to the idea of using it after trying to think of a Ground type that beat Fairies and Greninja, i believe. Golphan can just be burned or z-reflected, everything else is nuked by either water or Fairy, or can't do enough back fast enough. Cool mon
I'll have a team importable at the end, look out for that if you don't care to read.
Now that 1v1pl is finally over, I wanna share the unholy amount of teams I've built during this tournament, and give a brief description of each (yes, all of them)
Disclaimer: since I know people might use my teams and then blame me for 3-0s or general flaws in the team. These teams were built to be used in a tournament setting, which means if one teams gets 3-0d by Heracross against a player with 0% Heracross usage, I would still decide to roll with it. Also, older teams might be less good, since I've definitely grown as a builder throughout the tournament.
Teams will be organized based on the players I've used them for
The Cobalion set is a super interesting Fighting-type bait that beats Sawk and Keldeo. This team is one of the worst ones, not gonna lie, but I liked the Cobalion niche. Also ppl sometimes don't prep for Breloom.
Chandy just does very good vs. Kaif. Virizion is a cool niche set that can set-up on Counter users and that beats Kyurem-Black. Stall Mew is risky but decent.
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Zen Headbutt
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
Mono psychic, but it doesn't actually lose to the more obvious stuff. It was the time frame I was all over Gallade which I don't think is that good anymore. The skill swap tech supposedly beats Dragonite but if they use Extreme Speed you're fucked.
Gallade (M) @ Fighting Gem
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Encore
Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Earth Power
- Rock Tomb
Sawk (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
This one was supposed to bait in Cresselia. Encore is still a niche tech that can win you a bunch of stall MUs.
Cresselia @ Mail
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Moonlight
- Reflect
Sawk (M) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Rock Slide
- Endure
Back when I used a bunch of Sableye/Mew/Registeel. Fuck these mons, they promote hax more than actual gameplay, should've stopped using them earlier. Still decent team
This is where I discovered Hariyama. Goated mon. Aerodactyl is also a v good Pressure staller that has access to tauntroost and should beat other pressure stallers (unless they read you like 5 times in a row).
Apparently Spitfire had an identical team but with Vaporeon instead of Manaphy, kek. This Mana set is pretty good, imo better than Mew/Sableye. Still hax shit so never again.
Kyurem-Black @ Choice Band
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 248 HP / 212 Def / 48 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Earth Power
Cresselia @ Mail
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Def / 60 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Rest
- Reflect
Again, raikoucress g5 cause I don't wanna take risks game 5.
Extra Section: team I gave James for deg
Gengar is supposed to bait in Rhyperior and other Custap shit.
I'm only sending this one because 2 of them were his and the other two are teams I already posted.
BONUS: teams I used for Close
The teams weren't inherently good and might have had some 3-0s. Oh well, they were crafted specifically for him and I wanted to have fun since I was fighting my boy. I wouldn't rly suggest using them
Mew is underexplored so I thought experimenting with sets would be cool. This one beats Pressure stallers. Also I thought using 2 different Mew sets in a row might throw him off guard.
Victini @ Choice Band
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Zen Headbutt
- Brick Break
- Trick
This was a vital set for Morpekos since losing against Barraskewdas would've meant risking to not make playoffs. I thought my win would be important so I decided to bring out Cottonee, which wasn't very known at the time. Idk how Alakazam works if the set is bad don't @ me.
Sawk (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
ngl this team gets 3-0d by like Jirachi and probably other stuff, but it's also a team I submit for sample but with different sets. Thought he could fall for it.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Counter
Dragonite @ Life Orb
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 96 Atk / 240 SpD / 172 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Superpower
- Fire Punch
Though I wasn't a fan of Scizor and I wasn't on board with the Gardevoir idea at first, this ended up being one of my favorite teams. Garde beats Keldeo, Dragonite, Porygon-Z, Rhyperior, Sawk and other Custap shit. Dragonite has SpD for Latios.
Conkeldurr @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 140 Atk / 148 Def / 220 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Focus Punch
- Hammer Arm
- Counter
- Mach Punch
Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Iron Defense
- Amnesia
- Rest
- Seismic Toss
I've brought this Conkeldurr set so many times hoping people would fall for it. Iron Fist Choice Band Focus Punch Conkeldurr hits so hard that it beats Cottonee and it KOs things like Snorlax and Blissey that rely on Chople Berry to avoid a KO and Counter back. Band Mach Punch is super cool for certain MUs and Counter beats standard Dragonite/KyuB. Don't yell at me for non-Custap Manaphy, I'm not a fan of custap. Also Registeel costing me the match was a definite bye bye for me, never touching that thing again.
Hariyama @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 136 Atk / 236 Def / 136 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Facade
Bisharp @ Choice Band
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Night Slash
- Iron Head
- Brick Break
- Sucker Punch
This team is just kinda cool, used it again vs. neomon as well. Lol at the fact that both me and Solar brought Bisharp same game without agreeing on it (I actually brought Knock Off Bisharp with 20 BP by mistake but changed it later kek). ThundyT is p good.
Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 192 HP / 224 SpA / 4 SpD / 88 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- Energy Ball
Slaking is v cool, struggles from Pressure but most things that run Protect/Endure get beat by cottonee. s/o Cantius for telling me to bring Slaking and to call it "neomon irl".
Cresselia @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 196 Def / 60 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Moonlight
- Reflect
Hydreigon would be cool if you didn't have to run Timid Scarf to beat KyuB. Maybe I can make other sets work one day. Ran Sitrus on Cresselia cause everyone and their mom runs Mail so Trick is never considered as an option to beat it.
Solar used Specs Zapdos vs. me and talked good about it. I liked it so I decided to use it. Meloetta is fast defensive to beat uhh... Sawk? I don't remember quite fondly but some strong physical attacker for sure.
That Haxorus set is cool. Physically defensive tanks a lot of stuff, Haban beats stuff like KyuB and Dragonite and Unnerve beats Custap and weakness berry cheese.
Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Zen Headbutt
- Trick
Mew is very cool to experiment with, the spread beats all types of Dragonite and Pressure stallers. Heracross is a mon that I apparently never used that is deemed underrated.
Zapdos has always been seen as Specs this PL so I thought about bringing it as Pressure. ppl would argue worse Raikou but it gets Roost and more SpA, so.
Victini @ Fire Gem
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 44 SpD / 112 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bolt Strike
- V-create
- Quick Attack
- Zen Headbutt
Scrafty @ Fighting Gem
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Used some mons I've played with before but all of them with sets I've never touched. Didn't end up using this team though, so here's another exclusive for ya.
EXHIBIT X: Other teams (even Meme teams) that I've built but haven't showcased for various reasons
Instructions: go to the "All" teams folder at the top -> scroll all the way down -> click the "Backup/Restore all teams" button -> paste what's in the pokepaste at the top of the box (without deleting anything). I strongly suggest you make a back-up of your teams in case you do something wrong.
That's all! I really enjoyed building for this PL and I hope you find any of my teams useful. Peace
