Set Details

* Latios uses its excellent Special Attack and Speed to threaten tremendous damage with Draco Meteor and its coverage moves. Usually kept in the back of the team to clean up weakened foes, Latios demands significant respect when building a team and as such Latios Draco Meteor is often used as the damage benchmark for defensive investment.
* Draco Meteor is by far Latios’s strongest move. It is only resisted by Steel-types and even a -2 Special Attack Draco Meteor is comparable in power to a neutral Dragon Pulse.
* Psychic is a consistent STAB move with no drawback or accuracy issues. Thunderbolt provides Latios with a move to hit Metagross, Heatran, Bronzong, and Scizor for neutral damage while also KOing Gyarados if it does not hold the Wacan Berry. Hidden Power Ground offers more damage to Metagross and Heatran, however it does not hit Bronzong or Scizor.
* Substitute is a niche option on Life Orb Latios to capitalise on the defensive plays induced by the threat of Draco Meteor. Grass Knot can be used as a coverage move to hit certain threats such as Rhyperior, Swampert, and Suicune for significant damage.
* Focus Sash gives Latios an advantage in the mirror matchup and the ability to survive many common attacks that would otherwise OHKO. Holding a Life Orb, Latios receives a crucial damage boost that grants it the ability to achieve important KOs such as Heatran not holding the Shuca Berry with Hidden Power Ground, Smeargle with Psychic, or Rhyperior with Draco Meteor.
Teambuilding
=========
* Steel-types such as Metagross, Heatran, and Bronzong have excellent type synergy with Latios and can combat common Latios checks such as Cresselia, Metagross, Snorlax, and Weavile.
* Snorlax is a notable partner for Latios with good type synergy, low speed to operate in Trick Room conditions, and the ability to break through Latios checks with Self-Destruct. In turn, Latios takes on the Fighting-types that threaten Snorlax.
* Latios is vulnerable if it fails to KO the foe before it moves, so especially bulky Pokemon such as Metagross, Heatran, Bronzong, Snorlax, Cresselia, and Togekiss are very effective checks to Latios. Equally, exceptionally fast Pokemon like Choice Scarf Metagross, Weavile, and Yanmega can act first to shut Latios down.
* Enemy speed control is particularly impactful to Latios as it is unable to weather attacks under Trick Room or Tailwind conditions.
* Latios is almost always walled by Shedinja; teams with Latios must respect Shedinja or face losing in the teambuilder.
