This was released a week ago, and I've listened to it 90 times since then. It's that good. Ellie Goulding is too amazing. I'm so excited for Halcyon Days to come out.

In love with the new A7X album, especially this song off of it:

Avenged Sevenfold delivers as always. Their new drummer is actually pretty good; not as good as The Rev was, but still good.

(yes, I know what you're probably going to say Deschain/BKC/etc., A7X is overrated and blah blah blah)

NIN leaked yesterday too.

It's pretty good.

BKC said he liked it, but eh. Only good A7X stuff was Waking the Fallen imo.

Also, new Red Fang.

normally not one to talk too much on albums before they're released, but I'm hoping The Electric Lady (Janelle Monae) and EP2 (FKA twigs) live up to expectations, especially since ArchAndroid was so cool. For those of you who don't know who FKA twigs is, one of the songs she's already released that is going to be on the EP is pretty great, so give it a listen:

i listened to sunbather for the first time about a week ago. it's really growing on me and i'm loving it. it's been years since i've been into metal but i found sunbather really easy to listen too. shit, that album might be good enough to introduce people TO metal, never mind bringing some old listeners back into the genre. i really wished i gave it a shot earlier, but i honestly had no idea it was a metal album based on the cover, which i saw posted everywhere.

yeah the cover/name makes it look like a witchhouse release or something.

Woo, haven't been on smogon in awhile! Needless to say I've found quite a few releases I've adored this year.

Favorites of this year so far (Bolded are in my top 10):

Portgual. The Man - Evil Friends
The World Is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die - Whenever, If Ever
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Push the Sky Away
M. James - Weirdo Loves You
Deerhunter - Monomania

Torres - Torres
Kurt Vile - Wakin' On a Pretty Daze
Daft Punk - RAM
Sigur Ros - Kveikur
MBV - m b v
Tim Hecker - Virgins

The Haxan Cloak - Excavation
The Besnard Lakes - Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO
Deafhaven - Sunbather
Saturday Looks Good To Me - One Kiss Ends It All
Shigeto - No Better Time Than Now
Speedy Ortiz - Major Arcana
Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing

And on another note, Arcade Fire's new single "Reflektor" leaked earlier. It was taken down a few times but you can still find it floating on youtube. Basically if you liked their LCD Soundsystem, synth / dance / rock vibe from The Suburbs, this album is probably going to be for you. The song pretty much sounds like an upbeat and danceable extension of The Suburbs

First off props to poppy who linked me an album by this guy forever ago; I thought it was good, then forgot about him. The title is a reference to a song of the same title by the absolutely incredible folk artist John Fahey, which is what drew me originally. This shit is awesome though.

lil ugly mane rules. i don't really like the chvrches album but i don't really like electropop in general so meh. new arctic monkeys is cool. i don't like arcade fire in general. new king krule is good. the jon hopkins / bat for lashes collab is cool. oneohtrix point never's new album is great. just got around to listening to unknown death 2002 (late i know) and it rules.
