Just like to lol at this post one more time

well shame i bet on them to win the entire thing then hmm ;)

and hopefully Woy will be replaced by something less inept.
tactically useless, picked no wingers, insists on using Raheem fucking sterling, Rashord did more in 1 minute then he did.

I still think the issue with England was the midfield... Surely playing Rooney out of position and making all the attacks go through him couldn't end well

I mean look at it the same way as Spain, at least the manager will get sacked, surely the next can't be worse... right?

When you can only lol... :'-)

I'm just gonna get all my thoughts out of the way while I still have them:

Italy was a pleasure to watch; this year, and this tournament especially, has really been a culmination and demonstration of the efficiency of training ground drills and well coached systems. You could tell everyone on the team knows what they're doing, where they should be at each phase of play and that's what got them through with supposedly less talented players. They played two forwards as a pair and this means that movements can be drilled into them rather than rely on something spontaneous. Pelle was the reference point and he made the same movement away from the CBs everytime which meant the midfield could knock it up to him without even looking. Then he only has to be aware of where Eder was and he could flick it on or lay it off, and Eder's movement was always the same as well so Pelle could afford one touch flicks and backheels. This is much harder to do with a 4-3-3 because the forward has to look twice over each shoulder to be aware of which inside forward is making the run and so it relies much less on learned movements. Playing two forwards is just another way to get the most out of less talented players and we've seen this with Leicester as well. On paper they sacrifice some width and some space in midfield but the defensive coaching has been perfect to make up for it. We've seen it with Northern Ireland, we've seen it with Iceland and Ireland played 4-4-2 occasionally too.

England's main problem is the lack of penetration from midfield. There is no creativity there. Rooney is a decent ball recycler and Alli is a decent marauder but they can't thread a pass to save their lives and they seem allergic to one-twos. Alli was good at Spurs because they had playmakers as inverted wingers. England have the exact opposite in Sterling and Lallana and Sturridge and lol Rashford and Vardy. Roy's midfield three suits a 4-2-3-1 but he played 4-3-3 where everyone was looking around at someone to thread through a ball and no one could. They couldn't go through the middle so it descended into long diagonals over the top for the full backs to chase and the quality was too crap for that to work. It ended up being crosses into the box so why didn't he bring Andy Carroll? If he wanted three forwards to stretch the opposition then he should have played Wilshere at the top of the midfield to release them. Except he played Wilshere deep late on in games for no apparent reason and managed to fit square pegs into every round hole. Roy brought no wingers, he had no idea what to do in midfield and seemed to pick his attack out of a hat. He's just so so poor...

But yeah, well done Iceland and it's been a very entertaining tournament so far!

Hodgson: "I'm comfortable that, whatever way we want to play, we'll be covered. Systems wins you nothing. Football players win you games

really.. then why is 4-4-2 dominating.. fecking clown.
