  • Player rankings will be determined by CP (Circuit Points). The top 12 players will qualify for the 2019 Invitational, with the Top 4 getting a round 1 bye.
  • Unlike last year, cartridge play will not have direct qualifications for the Invitational. Instead, your highest end-season rating in season 14-17 in the USUM ladder will be converted into CP. As such, players will no longer be able to qualify for two slots.
  • This circuit has a best finish limit (BFL) of 3, meaning that only the top 3 tournament/cartridge CP results will count towards your total CP. Basically, your lowest tournament CP will have no effect on your total (two if you earned CP through Cartridge play).

  • Point structure
    • For every win, players will earn 2 CP. If they win via activity or coinflip, they will not get the points until they win in the proceeding round.
    • Ladder Tournament playoff qualifiers will get 4 CP, and 6 CP if they were in first place in the cycle.
    • Two-way finals are worth 3 CP. Three-way finals are worth 4 and 2 CP for first and second place respectively.
    • Last Life Bracket: If a player loses in the Open, Classic, or Masters, they will be placed in the Last Life bracket, where each round won will be worth 1 CP. This bracket is purely as a last chance to get more CP; players in this bracket are no longer able to win the tournament in question and they are free to drop out from the tournament if they wish to do so. However, incomplete games will result in a double game loss (i.e. counts as a loss for both players), so players are required to be proactive to be matched with another player as soon as possible if their opponent drops out in order to earn CP, or request an extension if they think they will not be able to complete their game in time. Players who lose in the Last Life Bracket are out of the tournament.
    • The Last Life bracket will be having players who dropped out at the same round play each other, adding on to the bottom of the bracket and keeps pairing order. e.g. The Last Life bracket of Round 3 will have Round 2 Last Life bracket winners facing each other at the top of the bracket and Round 2 regular bracket losers playing each other in the below the Round 2 Last Life bracket winners.
    • Cartridge CP: A player's highest end-season rating during seasons 14-17 in the USUM PGL Singles ladder will be converted to CP using the following formula: (Rating - 1699)/20, rounded up.
  • Example: If someone ends the circuit with 4, 0, 8, 12 CP for the tournaments and their highest cartridge ladder rating was 1812, their final CP will be 8 + 12 + 6 (cart) = 26 CP. The 4 and 0 CP from their bottom two performances will not affect their total.

With Wednesday's Pokemon Direct, we finally know that the new games are coming out November 15th.

Based on this, I am re-organizing the 2019 Circuit schedule to best fit everyone's interests as much as possible:

Battle Spot Premier League:
July 1: Commencement - Manager signups + Format inclusion discussion
July 6: Player signups
July 14: Auction
July 15-Aug 18: Regular season
Aug 19-Sep 1: Playoffs

Battle Spot Singles Masters: Aug 26 signups

Battle Spot Singles Invitational 2019: Oct 21-Nov 17

There will be no circuit tournaments during the latter half of November and December. Have fun playing the new games!
