2nd RMT OU

Well, my first RMT did pretty well for itself, winning a lot of battles for me. However, as with all good things, it came to an end. It was flawed, to the point where the appearance of any combination of the multiple threats it couldn't handle resulted in an auto-loss, assuming they were handled well. And so, I try once again to create a team. Thank you for clicking on my topic, and especially thanks to anyone who actually rates my team.

Lead: Azelf

Jolly@Choice Band
252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 HP
-U Turn
-Explosion
-Stealth Rock
-Trick

The main purpose of my lead is to scout. If they are slower than me, and I can predict them setting up, I will trick my choice band onto them. Stealth Rock allows me to get theses dangerous rocks out as they switch they're tricked lead. Explosion is for special walls, and for when azelf is very low on health.

Pokemon 2: Lucario

Jolly@Life Orb
252 Speed, 252 Attack, 4 HP
-Sword Dance
-Close Combat
-Extreme Speed
-Bullet Punch

Azelf is weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark. All of which are resisted by lucario. Sword Dance Boosts his attack, allowing him to hit for huge damage. Life Orb boosts that attack further. Close Combat his for STAB, and it is a very powerful attack. Extreme Speed allows it to strike first, and considering his rather average speed, that is important. The last move, Crunch, is to damage ghosts, who are immune to the rest of his attacks.

Pokemon 3: Gyarados

Adamant@ Leftovers
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake

Gyarados resists all of lucarios weaknesses (Fighting, Ground, Fire), and intimidate allows him to scare off some most physical attackers. A free turn to dragon dance turns gyarados into a real threat. Waterfall for STAB, stone edge for other gyrados, zapdos, and salamence. Earthquake for steels, electrics, and to catch a zapdos expecting a switch tryong to roost.

Pokemon 4:Swampert

Jolly@Leftovers
252 HP, 216 Attack, 52 Spec. Attack
-Earthquake
-Roar
-Stone Edge
-Ice beam

Pokemon 5: Heatran

Timid@Choice Scarf

252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
-Explosion
-Fire Blast
-Earth Power
-HP Ice

So many people fear the scarf variant of heatran, and forces many switches. That allows me to get a sub up, ensuring I do the most damage I can on the next turn to their counter. Fire Blast is for stab, Earth Power for other trans and type coverage. HP Ice for salamence, and skymin.
Pokemon 6: Celebi
Celebi.gif

Bold@Leftovers
252 HP, 220 Defense, 36 Special Attack
-Leech Seed
-Recover
-Thunder wave
-Grass Knot

Celebi and Heatran work well together, hence their couple's name of celetran. I needed something that could take hits, and celebi does that pretty well. Leech Seed Drains their life, while healing me. Recover for more reliable recovery, grass knot for stab. Thunderwave for paralysis support.

Once again, thanks for reading. All changes will be in Bold.

Ok, the team looks pretty solid overall. I like how you've worked out weaknesses and how they're covered between your pokemon. Only problem i see is a DDtar. If your opponent gets rocks up, and gets off a couple DDs its over. Crunch OHKOs Azelf, Dugtrio, Celebi. EQ OHKOs Luc, Heatran. Stone Edge OHKOs Gyarados. So, if you switch in to DDtar with lucario, and rocks take away what, 3%? And if Ttar is Jolly max speed, after a DD it will easily outrun Luc. And proceed to OHKO. See what i mean? Otherwise, its extremely solid. I assume you're doing quite well with it eh?

Yeah I am, and I'm glad you pointed that out because I haven't seen a DDtar, any suggestions on how to change my team to deal with. Maybe make my lucario Jolly?

Oh and before I say anything, I put this team into the marriland type chart and it came out quite well, your pokemon covers eachothers weakneses except for duggy who cant really take a hit from anything

At quick glance I notice you dont have one of the most popular physical threats with is scizor...so lets see how your team works without one...Typical lead azelf which is a pretty good lead. Moving on to your gyra it looks like a sweeper..pretty standard ish. I see that you have a LUKE, where you could possible use scizor. I would personally go with scizor over luke as it has such more utility because its pretty bulky and can take a few hits..so maybe scizor over luke..but if you are keeping like I would make it jolly.

Moving onto your dugtrio, I see that its banded...I am not sure what you are trying to trap here, but if you are tryin to trap a scarfran well it isnt going to work. I really dont see dugtrio working to well with this team. I dont know tho, dont knock it until you try it. I would just put a scarf on it to ensure heatran dies. On your heatran the set looks good, except I would go over HP grass instead of ice..because common switchins to heatran are swampert/ bulky water. Lastly, your celebi looks good and leech seed set looks like it can work, forcing swtiches on opponent who think they can setup.

When I opened this thread and looked at the movesets and everything the first thing that came to mind was, "How do you deal with Gengar?"

That thing can come in and 6-0 this team with only switching out of Duggy...The most you can do to it, is trick a band or send duggy in to force a switch out. I would probably make your Heatran a Scarf and make your Azelf a standard Taunt Zelf with Pyschic over Fire Blast, so you have a decent way to deal with Gengar.

As for your Lucario I would probably just try Bullet Punch/Extreme Speed/Close Combat since that set can help clear out a ton of pokemon so that Gyara can come in later and get an easy sweep in. Bullet Punch can help somewhat with Gengar/Tyranitar, and Extremespeed can help you hit pokemon that are outright faster than you for good damage.

You may have trouble with Salamence and Gyarads, but I'm pretty sure Celebi can handle that with a Thunder Wave, and then just stall it out. Good Luck with the team and I hope you take my advice into consideration.

Changed some things up. A friend of mine suggested using swampert over dugtrio, so I tried that out and it worked pretty well. Still VERY oper to suggestions.

I don't see why you are running Swampert Jolly, is that to outspeed something specific. Either Way, you are probably better off using the standard Mixpert from the analysis. I assume Stone Edge is there for gyarados, although I would suggest switching it for surf if you find gyarados not to be an issue (you have your own gyarados and celebi that you can play around with.)

You haven't really explained your game plan very much, but from what I can see you are trying to Mess up your opponants strategy with TrickBand Azelf and then try to set something up. For example you can deal with gliscor but Lucario will find it hard to sweep without it. More offensive variations will deal with Gyarados as well. May i suggest over the Swampert a Mix Tar that will Lure out counters of Lucario and eliminate them. Tar with Ice Beam will deal with Gliscor and with Flamethrower will deal with Forretress and Skarmory (who although they are not perfect counters still have the potential to stop your sweep, especially after a close combat defense drop. Mix Tar (Crunch) will also take out Ghosts, who you can only hit with your least powerful priority attack on Luke.

Scarftran can be Naive, for more explosion power. Hasty also works depending on what you are scared of (Bulky Waters or Random Superpowers)
