Hey guys, MCBarrett here with my first RMT of X&Y. Although I am happy to be making this RMT I'm also sad. I am sad because the evil smogoon run by the tyrannous overlord chaos has once again banned my good buddy Gene. I was teased by Gene being allowed for the first few months of XY but alas, despite mine and Verlisify's best efforts, he was banned again. After about a week of mourning I am now ready to say my final goodbyes and post this RMT. RIP in peace buddy ;~;

Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 60 Def / 252 HP / 196 SDef
Impish Nature
- Slack Off
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind

Hippo covers a few important roles on this team. First he provides Stealth Rocks and then he acts as a check to a ton of the meta's top threats. He's this teams primary Aegislash and Thundurus check as well as providing a good check to a variety of other pokes such as Talonflame and Mega Pinsir especially thanks to Whirlwind.

479-w.png

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
- Pain Split
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp

Rotom-W was a necessary addition to this team since one of the pokes I was planning on using was Volcarona. The primary Revenge Killer for Volcarona is Talonflame so I needed to make sure I had the best possible switch-in to it on my team. It also gels really nicely with Genesect and it's Will-o-Wisp helps check a lot of threats such as Azumarill.

Genesect @ Choice Band
Ability: Download
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- U-turn
- Extreme Speed
- Iron Head
- Ice Beam

Genesect was actually added last to this team and was without a doubt a perfect fit. The team was very slow and had problems with revenge killing a lot of dangerous pokes such as Mega Pinsir, Talonflame, Charizard-X etc. CB Extreme Speed is so powerful even without an attack raise and it's definitely the thing I'll miss most about Genesect. Not only that but Mega Venusaur was a huge bitch to the team up until this point and Genesect could deal serious damage to it with CB U-Turn or Iron Head, helping Mawile and Volcarona to break through.

303-m.png

Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 140 HP / 252 Atk / 116 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch

This thing is an absolute menace. It's finally getting some decent usage but it still needs more in my opinion since there are so few things that can stop it and it can switch into a ton of stuff. Mega Mawile was actually the central idea behind the team, specifically the Sub-Punch set to remove opposing Heatran so Volcarona would be able to sweep later on. He does this fabulously and can do much much more if the opposing team doesn't have any answers to it outside of Heatran.

637.png

Volcarona (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 240 HP / 216 Def / 36 SDef / 16 Spd
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Roost

Volcarona may seem like a weird choice in this metagame. Heatran is very common and with powerful Flying-Type priority everywhere right now you would assume that a Volcarona sweep would be a pretty rare occurance, especially against a team using Talonflame. However, this is very far from the truth. Bulky Volcarona can setup on a ton of stuff in this metagame such as the now banned Mega-Lucario, Kyurem-B, Aegislash, Rotom-W, Conkeldurr and the list goes on. After that, not much is stopping it. Sure a lot of teams run scarfers or Thundurus to stop the sweep to but Volcarona has no trouble switching out and setting up again later in the match once these threats are taken care of.

380.png

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Dragon Pulse
- Psyshock

Finally Latias was added as Defog Support and as a check to some special attackers such as Charizard-Y and Keldeo which Volcarona can't really setup on. While giving Aegislash free switch-ins usually sucks I have a couple Aegi checks on the team and Latias does it's job very well otherwise.

Thanks for reading my RMT n_n. Even though I barely got to use this team it was very fun and did quite well in the matches I got to use it in. Obviously with the Genesect ban this team is pretty much retired but feel free to leave any rates if you feel like it!

  • Dice for the Volc spread and for telling me to rebuild the team which led to this version of it

  • The Based Bisharps. You guys are based af and ily all :]

  • OU Chat bros for helping me test the team out and for being based 24/7

  • RMT guys for inspiring me to make this RMT and for being the biggest reason for me being where I am now in my Pokemon career. I don't talk to some of you guys very often but you're all pretty awesome n_n

Hey man, solid team you have here. It's a shame that Genesect was banned to Ubers (lol jk, I banned it :]), but it's nice to see you retire such a good team. I think I only have a few suggestions which I'm sure you've probably considered when building this

You could try out Earthquake Latios over Latias, just because you really like Heatran being eliminated to allow Genesect and and Volcarona to go to work. I would also run 44 Speed EVs on Rotom-W to out speed Defensive Landorus-T. Despite having Rotom-W and Mawlie's Intimidate, I can see Pinsir + Talonflame smashing through this team, as there's immense pressure on Rotom-W, so you could possibly try Rock Slide on Hippowdon, although I'm not sure how effective that'd be in practice, and you lose the ability to phaze certain threats. Keeping Genesect alive is key when you see these threats lurking, and I honestly think that with good play, you can keep enough offensive pressure on your opponent to stop them from Defoging (Mawlie and Genesect beat the most common Defogers around).

There isn't really much else to say. Solid team man

What's gucci MCB, I locked your thread because the descriptions were a bit lacking and you are using Pokemon not in the tier anymore. Please fix these and I shall unlock the thread. Just playing mang, in all seriousness I'm certainly liking the team a ton and am also sad that Genesect is banned. How well does the team deal with Manaphy? It looks like it just shreds literally anything on your team. Nothing wants to take a hit whatsoever nor does anything feel like swapping in. Try swapping out Rotom-Wash for Assault Vest Raikou to take a hit from Manaphy, Thunderbolt it, or simply Volt Switch into Latias to finish the job. Shadow Ball is mainly to smash Aegislash/Gengar as well as get neutral coverage on other things that you aren't the necessarily greatest match for. Thunderbolt + Volt Switch are STAB's of choice plus gaining momentum on an offensive team? Yes please. Hidden Power Ice is just nice to have for things like Gliscor/Lando-T/Garchomp and anything else x4 weak to it.

Now that you are rocking the sexy AV Raikou, you are in need of a physical wall. Just shift Hippowdon over to the other side of the spectrum with the standard EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk and you should be good to go mang. You tank physical hits all day and just Slack off the damage over time. Whirlwinding out set up sweepersYou straight wall around 60% of the OU meta game and poor Hippo is UU. Other than those little changes there was almost nothing to swap out, solid team overall. #GeneBansSuck #420YoloBlazeIt #MCBCan'tShoot #A&MesNumeroUno #3ManyHashtags5Me...and scene. In all honesty though, this team would've been nice to play and you know where to find me for some more help playa.
Raikou @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 224 Spd / 252 SAtk / 32 SDef
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
EDIT: I also was testing this team with Greninja over Genesect and it works amazingly! Throwing that out there if you would like to keep using the team post ban.
