This tournament will be played using standard XY OU rules with matches being a best of one. This tournament will be run with two separate brackets which will be determined by your Smogon join date. Each bracket will have 64 players and eventually the winner of each bracket will play each other for an overall final. Bracket 1 will be players who have joined previous to 2013, and bracket 2 will be players who have a join date between 2013 and 2014. Rounds will last 7 days each with the first round lasting 10 days.

Tournament Rules and Clauses
  • Sleep Clause: A player cannot put two or more different opposing Pokémon to sleep using attacks that induce sleep to opposing Pokémon.
  • Species Clause: A player cannot have two of the same Pokémon on their team. For example, a player cannot have two Koffing on his or her team.
  • Evasion Clause: A player cannot use the moves Double Team or Minimize in their Pokémon's movesets.
  • OHKO Clause: Players cannot use Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, or Fissure in any of their Pokémon's movesets.
  • Team Preview: Players must turn on the Team Preview feature where players can view the opposing team's Pokémon and choose their lead Pokémon.
  • Timer Clause: If a player exhausts the timer, he/she loses.
  • Endless Battle Clause: Any moveset on any pokemon that is capable of intentionally causing an endless battle is banned from competitive play. Check this thread for more informations.
  • Uber Clause: Players may not use any items, moves, abilities, or Pokemon that appear on Smogon's OU Ban List. If the tiers change or new items, abilities, moves, or Pokemon become available in the middle of a round, the changes will take effect in the following round. There will be an announcement in the relevant round if this occurs.

just wondering, how did players such as phil/tewmew (not singling these people out, just examples) get a spot in the pairings over me despite the fact that i signed up before them and am in the same bracket type?

edit: more specifically, there are 32 pairings for this bracket and i was the 44th to sign up for it

All tournaments that don't have a specifically approved sign up method will use First Come, First Serve for the first 62.5% of the players, and then the host must select the last 37.5% from the remainder at random. Here is a table to help you understand how this works:

62.5% * 64 = 40. You signed up after guy #40 did. So your slot was randomized.

First come first serve for 62.5% of the bracket (40 of 64) and the last 24 slots are randomized between who is left.
