Hello! This thread is here to archive teams from the DPP metagame and showcase popular playstyles and archetypes. Its aim is to help beginners and intermediate level players become acclimated to the tier, or simply to help anyone in need of a solid team to play.

Please note: Team submissions are closed, unlike in current generation tiers. Writeups for each sample team may come soon.

Hello! We've decided to do a small update to the sample teams to be more up to date with recent metagame changes. Our goal isn't to replace all the current samples as we feel like they're still good teams and representations of their playstyle. Rather we want to add new teams with Pokemon/Team styles which we feel were previously underrepresented, you can see those new additions here:

We'll definitely be looking at updating this more in the near future but we think this is a good start. Thanks to everyone who provided teams even if they didn't end up getting included, much appreciated! Hope everyone has fun trying these out!

Are there any good teams with CB Flygon or Life Orb Double Edge Clefable (It sounds ridiculous but its an analysis set lmao) I can use? I really want to use these sets but none of the above teams have them.

Good question. It's funny, I've never used CB Flygon in all my time playing DPP. I have always associated it with Scarf / LO, it depends on the team. I'm going to try to help in a perhaps unorthodox way. There's an old team called 'The Art of Uturn' by M Dragon. You can take that team as an example for CB Flygon. Being an old team (2009), there are things like Salamence. But it's not a problem, the closest thing is Nite. You can try other variants like Azelf > Uxie or Scarf > LO Lucario. I think it's closest to what you're looking for, although it can also work with other play styles.

The Art of Uturn

Sorry I can't help with Clefable. Anyway, I don't think I'll top any of their sets. It may surprise you at first, because it is something that is not expected. As an option it is fine, but I don't think it is recommended.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to comment something....

Are new teams accepted? I'm not just saying this for me... Maybe someone else is interested. And truth be told, I think it would be great to see new proposals.

where can I find the team analysis for these?
Clicking on the sprites, if that's what you mean.

By the way... if you are new, I recommend a team that is not difficult to use, like Vay's (Metagross + SD Scizor).

no, like what are these teams designed to do with their given moves, items, and spreads. What do they counter?

Im thinking something along the lines with a RMT post

Used to play DPP ages ago, was going thru these teams…good stuff overall.

Quick question on the Hippowdon/Clefable stall team…

1) Why do 2 Pokémon have Stealth Rock?
2) What is the team’s strategy to deal with last-Pokémon bulky CM/Curse sweepers?
- Maybe Encore over Stealth Rock on Clefable could be a good quick patch-up for this?

Jirachi can help with Suicune. Encore is a great move and certainly worth considering.

If you’re struggling with Swampert you can also try drill peck on Skarm or Toxic to wittle it down.

There’s other things you can try like GK Starmie or GK Clefable.

The samples are mostly as guides, you don’t need to use exactly the sets and spreads shared.

Yeah that makes sense. On stall I’m always scared of last-Pokemon bulky sweepers w/ Rest after losing a tournament game to a Cursepert back in college haha.

I don’t like going as far as a Haze, Perish Song, or Psych Up user (or Spiritomb w/ Curse like one guy used to do), that would be overkill and open you up to other threats,

But Encore will at least check them.

Hippowdon struggles to get stealth rocks up against common rapid spinners. That team doesn't have a spin blocker or pursuit support. So BKC justified the use of a second stealth rocker to help get rocks up or lure in and wear down rapid spinners.

Players stopped preparing for last Mon bulky sweepers a long time ago. The general strategy is to try and scout the opponents team. Moves like Whirlwind help. Then make sure that you are never in a spot where a last Mon Cune can setup and sweep you. But it's not a particularly common strategy.

TBH, I'm not a huge fan of SR Clef unless if Clef is the only option. I do agree Encore is a cool, but rare move in OU that annoys stall.

I kinda feel like that Hippo stall needs Rotom to prevent Hazards from being spun & act as a Gyara check.
