Welcome to the Anything Goes Winter Seasonal! This seasonal is a type A tournament that will be included in the 2022 AG tournament circuit; learn more about it here.

Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here, or below.
  • This is a standard SS Anything Goes tournament.
  • Best of three, double elimination.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!
  • Do not make baseless activity posts, get in contact with your opponent and report missed times / scheduling issues only.
  • All the usual Smogon rules regarding activity, timer, disconnection, and ghosting rules apply.
  • Replays are not required until the last couple of rounds, but you should save them in the case of a disagreement; it is the only way to settle disputes!
Identity

About playing on alts: It is entirely allowed to play on an alt other than your own main forum name, though if your opponent wishes to confirm your identity, you must log on to your main alt to show them you are who you claim to be. This is to prevent people from pretending to be who they're not.

About playing on different servers: The matches must be played on either the Smogtours server or the Main PS! server if both parties agree to that. Other servers are not sanctioned by the host(s) and playing in them might result in your game not counting. Protect yourself from that by playing on Smogtours.

Scouting

On scouting opponents: Going through your opponent's replays of tournament and ladder games is entirely allowed, as long as a game is public there is nothing preventing you from watching it. An exception to this is abusing powers granted to you by being staff on Smogon or PS! to gain access to information a normal user wouldn't have access to, which is strictly forbidden.

On leaking teams: Divulging private information about someone's planned team to their opponent is never allowed, and will be heavily sanctioned. Requesting that such information be divulged is also grounds for punishment. Keep your scouting to publicly available information and you'll be fine.

Timer Clause / Disconnections

Timer Clause: As for taking long between moves, if your opponent asks you to hurry up, please oblige. If you are doing a damage calc for a key turn that is one thing, but prolonging every move is suspicious and annoying. Don't do it. Furthermore, Battle Timeout is a rule for a reason. If you run out of time, you lose, simple as that. It does not matter what your opponent says. Do not battle if you think you will have to leave mid battle, and instead reschedule for a better time.

Disconnections: Finally, in the case of a disconnect, the decision is in the hands of the player who did not disconnect. The options are: redo the battle move for move, redo the battle with the same teams but different moves, or redo the battle with completely different teams. If the battle was without a doubt over, they may also take the win. Any suspicion that a disconnect was committed on purpose to redo a match may be appealed to me, and if I feel this happened there will be severe consequences, don't do it.

Scheduling

Use VMs to schedule with your opponent to make it easier for me to track activity calls when needed, and use this guide to ensure you don't lose via activity or coinflip. If you use other methods to contact your opponent outside of VMs, then post in this thread confirming you're in contact with your opponent; otherwise, it's not necessary. Extensions for those with time conflicts will only be given when proof is provided of scheduling with their opponent in the beginning of the round, so do not schedule last minute expecting to be compensated in case of timezone conflicts or be given an activity win over your opponent.

I know that was a lot to read, but it is all necessary for me to have posted here so everyone can see it in the case of a dispute. I don't want any confusion or any problems.

Predicts of what I perceive to be highlight matches this week:
lotiasite  vs  Nevelle - I feel Loti is far more experienced and practiced in galar, but nev is obviously no slouch. Oh wait who am I kidding - he lost to BananaBen15. Nevermind, it’s 99-1, the 1 being major hax.
cromagnet  vs  Rotten - this should be an interesting match, but cro is the better player here and should take this.
Lauriane  vs  (Winner of Bread Sandwich vs WillG30 ) - assuming AGL takes his round 1 match, this should be a fun set. AGL gets the edge though I think due to being a former council member and his ability to pilot some pretty niche and jank shit
WSun1  vs  Seldanna - of all the matches this week, this one is probably the one to watch. I do think Will is a stronger player, but it could easily go the either way. I expect this to go to 3 games
HillZZa  vs  BasedWhat? - BasedGoat will make any set a spectacle, no matter which no name he’s up against
jerryl309 vs Bye 13 - Bye 13 is fucking cracked

It appears I have been mixed up on an activity call last round, and gave the win to the wrong user in the case of GalaxyZero360 vs Rapod

Rapod has been granted the win for R1, since GalaxyZero360 never replied to his attempt to contact. As a result, their pairings here are inverted.
New Pairings :
Fardin vs Rapod (Winners' Bracket)
A8 the Weirdo vs GalaxyZero360 (Losers' Bracket)

won g1 then was given win, gg
Regarding this, I stated my mistake to Rapod in Direct Messages earlier today, and informed him his pairing was wrong and that he was playing fardin instead, but that I was a little on a rush and would make an official post a little later on.

I also asked fardin who he played without even bringing up Rapod into the conversation, and he told me he did play Rapod. Also at the time I'm posting this, GalaxyZero360 has not logged in since January 29th, so it is very unlikely that Fardin even got to play him. Thus, despite it being played and reported before I officially announced the change, I am still counting the win as valid.

Yo who can I contact for people just flat out not responding on this site because I've been trying to contact the people in both rounds trying to arrange a match with nobody responded.

Won for r1 in 2, GG's.
New Pairings :
Agentkeval vs Fleeting Memories (Winners' Bracket)
yourlocalblobfiish vs joakopro666 (Losers' Bracket)

Regarding Bread Sandwich vs WillG30 :
WillG30 never suggested a time to play, nor gave his availabilites despite Bread Sandwich sharing his own proper availabilities, thus Bread Sandwich gets the activity win

New Pairings :
Bread Sandwich vs Lauriane (Winners')
WillG30 vs meloettaHD (Losers')

Regarding 80 yrs vs weakermaker :
I did grant an extension given both players attempted to schedule and couldn't find a time. Even if it seems like a game is now scheduled, we are already 6 hours past the extension deadline, thus I am obligated to coinflip it.

New Pairings :
80 yrs vs NB402141 (Winners')
weakermaker vs JazzyPainter8 (Losers')

Contacted twice on profile post, once Monday and one today and still no response
Also my opponent hasn’t been on since January 31st
