Welcome to the first edition of CAP Majors! In this tournament, participants will start off in a pool with other players, and those with the best records within those pools will advance to the second round. Each pool will have a leader, who is a credible player, and these leaders will be handpicked by the host and CAP Moderators. After the first round, the tournament will shift to a traditional single elimination tournament.

Tournament Specific Rules
  • This is a standard SS CAP tournament
  • The format for Round 1 is as follows:
    • Round 1 of this tournament will be a round robin series. Players will be placed in pools, and must play all other opponents in their pool.
    • Because Round 1 is a round robin format, this means you are expected to play every opponent in your pool, even if you lose the first couple of games. If you are unwilling to commit to this format, do not sign up. You are also agreeing to playing games with potential substitutes.
    • Each pool will have a pool leader who will be handpicked by the tournament host and CAP Metagame moderators.
    • Round 1 matches will be best-of-one. You may switch teams between opponents.
    • The best 2 record holders in each pool will move on to Round 2.
  • The format for Round 2 and onwards is as follows:
    • The format will be best of three, single elimination
  • Changing teams between matches is allowed
  • All matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!
  • Replays are required, no exceptions. In the event that replays are not provided, the match must be replayed before the deadline or will be cointossed or an activity win will be granted as is appropriate.
  • Any tier changes that occur during a round will not be in effect until the following round.
  • All standard tournament rules apply.
  1. 1st: 15 Points
  2. 2nd: 12 Points
  3. 3rd-4th: 9 Points
  4. 5th-8th: 6 Points
  5. 9th-16th: 3 Points
  6. 17th-the rest: 1 Points

Friendly reminder that this week is Bo3. The deadline for this week is June 13, 12:00 AM GMT -4.

Predictions:

Dj Breloominati♬ vs. DetroitLolcat
poopidoopii vs. spoo
Quairo vs. D2TheW
Micaiah
vs. reachzero
shnowshner vs. Zephyri (Sorry shnowshner, I know we are friends, but I honestly trust Zephyri more here)
ausma vs. Steam Buns (Tough call imo. ausma feels like the better player but Steam Buns is more familiar with the metagame)
Euphonos vs. Kaede (I don't know Euphonos enough to call this one fairly)
Darek vs. JayHeaven

stay mad for getting bossaru'd

Dj Breloominati♬ vs. DetroitLolcat - think DLC will make it close, but spitfire's been more consistent as of late and is basically impossible to prep for. sometimes his techs don't pay off, and that's the biggest way I see him losing this, but overall I trust him to perform here

poopidoopii vs. spoo - a perfectly even match. good luck to my opponent.

Quairo vs. D2TheW - d2 sucks but he's my assman so I can't predict against him

Micaiah vs. reachzero - these people have played in bracket like, 5 times at least? no clue what the exact count is at this point. I think micaiah is positive against reach, though, so I'm taking the bet on an upset. one of the closest matches here imo

shnowshner vs. Zephyri - zeph played uhh. an interesting game against shsp for tiebreak, but I think he's still got the chops to beat shnow here (as long as he doesn't choke...). then again, I wasn't expecting shnow to make it this far in the first place, which could be an indicator he'll surpass expectations once more. looking forward to this one

ausma vs. Steam Buns - relative newcomer to our tour scene up against a seasoned cap vet. I think ausma played her group stage games nicely, and mr buns seems to have fallen into some predictable team styles; I'm far from counting buns out, but my gut says ausma will take the win

Euphonos vs. Kaede - really weird but cool matchup featuring two "outsiders" of cap tours. not sure how to evaluate this one honestly - euphonos brought 5 caps + a landorus for all 4 of his games, and won against kaede pretty much on matchup vs a squad that looked like it was a year+ old. I think if kaede brings a team better equipped for the current meta, this rematch should go differently; this isn't a bo1 anymore, either, meaning euph is a lot easier to punish if he reuses squads just like he did in group stages

Darek vs. JayHeaven - these guys played not too long ago (like two months?) for ladder tour playoffs and darek ended up winning the set with decent luck going his way. I rate both players pretty highly, and I don't think darek can keep winning against jay forever - darek's tendency to reuse some of the same teams/pokemon as of late makes me give jay the edge in the builder, too

Good afternoon, or whenever it may be for your respective timezone, people of the CAP Community. After conferring with my most excellent opponent, Smogon Forums user Zephyri, about our scheduled time to confront each other on Pokemon Showdown! for this round of CAP Majors, it came to his attention that the perceived availability he had for Saturday was incorrect, and instead of being busy on Sunday like was expected, is actually busy today. Unfortunately, I too am busy, but only when he would have ample time to prepare for our best of three competition. Thus, with Saturday no longer an option, and me having a booked agenda for my duties on Sunday, we have agreed to request our esteemed and most reputable tour house, Smogon Forums user dex, for an extension into the next week, so that the more capable of us is able to advance into the next series of battles.

Thank you for your time and enjoy the rest of your day.
