4 Part Drag 1 Part Mag 1 Part... Sha...g

Introduction
I heard mention of something called 4Drag2Mag while in the midst of an epic battle and was greatly intrigued. Dragons as we all know are capable of huge damage and when complemented by trappers to kill steels they are that much better. So I set out to create my own team with this strategy in mind.

The Team

635.png

Sazandora @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Ev's: 4HP/252SATK/252SPE
Nature:Modest (+SATK -ATK)
*Draco Meteor
*Fire Blast
*U-Turn
*Surf

Sazandora has functioned as a nice lead. Being able to take on a majority of leads with great type coverage or a fast u-turn to something than can handle whatever it is my opponents got. I have seen other scarf sazandoras that opt for outrage over meteor but with 2 other outragers i decided to go for meteor.

373.png

Salamence @ Life Orb
Ability: Earthquake Spiral
Ev's: 252ATK/4SATK/252SPE
Nature:Naive (+SPE -SDEF)
*Dragon Dance
*Dragon Claw
*Earthquake
*Fire Blast

Salamence is amazing at everything as usual. Choosing earthquake spiral over intimidate is not a very popular choice but this team is intended to be very aggressive so attack boosts never go unnapreciated. Dragon Claw is necessary because Outrage is not compatible with earthquake spiral, but even without rage salamence is capable of decimating plenty.

612.png

Ononokusu @ Choice Band
Ability: Mold Breaker
Ev's: 4HP/252ATK/252SPE
Nature:Adamant (+ATK - SATK)
*Shadow Claw
*Earthquake
*Brick Break
*Outrage

with 147 base atk + 252 atk evs + adamant + choice band + stab outrage
This. Thing. Rapes.
I rarely ever use a move other than outrage with this guy, the only thing that can safely switch in against this monster is shedinja. It is simply amazing. Really not much to say here that has not already been said. Very simple yet effective.

450.png

Garchomp @ Yache Berry
Ability: Sand Veil
Ev's: 4HP/252ATK/252SPE
Nature: Jolly (+SPE -SATK)
*Swords Dance
*Earthquake
*Fire Fang
*Outrage

Old reliable YacheChomp, I am choosing sand veil over rough skin because sandstorm teams are common and rough skin is just not that good on a not defensively focused pokemon, imo of course. (With this I have 1 scarf 1 band 1 dd 1 sd, which makes me feel ok about having 4 dragons since they all have their own flavor). Garchomp is able to set up on so many things it is ridiculous and with yache berry he has very few counters, you can not get much better than chomp.

Now that i have covered all 4 dragons it is time to transition to the trappers. Originally these 2 spots were Magnezone and Magneton, but shandera is capable of fulfilling the role of steel killer much better than a magneton.

467.png

Magnezone @ Balloon
Ability: Magnet Pull
Ev's: 40HP/252SATK/216SPE
Nature: Timid (+SPE -ATK)
*Hidden Power Fire
*Magnet Rise
*Thunderbolt
*Substiture

The classic steel killer set of 4th gen but holding a balloon now making it capable of taking out doryuuzu and other steels much easier. Hidden power fire is taken over ice in order to take out doryuuzu and making it easier to kill scizor and Genosekuto. I have never actually taken advantage of magnet rise and sub because it is often much easier to just take things out with thunderbolt and hidden power.

609_shandera_front_norm.png

Shandera @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Shadow Tag
Ev's: 4HP/252SATK/252SPE
Nature: Timid (+SPE -ATK)
*Hidden Power Ground
*Shadow Ball
*Energy Ball
*Overheat

We have all seen it, scarf shandera is a potent revenge killer and shadow tagger. Capable of functioning as a great steel killer and just general face pwn-er. With Magnezone and Shandera Clearing my opponents team of steels it allows my mighty dragons to sweep the rest of their puny team.

Threats

Ditto, with 4 dragons if ditto successfully switches in on salamence or garchomp after they have boosted ditto can be quite a problem since 4 of my pokemon are weak to dragon.

Porygon2, this thing is such a pain ice beaming all my poor dragons then shrugging off attacks all over the place.

Regrets (things that suck)
No stealth rock sucks
No status (mainly toxic) sucks
No Phazing sucks

but i guess thats the cost of running a highly aggressive team.

had a guy with a team with 6 focus sashes, gosh that was annoying.

The team concept is interesting, but this team is decimated by Kingdra and Ludicolo (specifically Special Life Orb versions) in the rain.

There is no easy way to check these rain sweepers, but one thing you can do is place an Erufuun or Borutorosu over one of your Dragon sweepers (I'd get rid of Ononokusu, to be honest). Both of these Pokemon have paralyzing moves (Erufuun has Stun Spore and Borutorosu has Thunder Wave), which stops all Swift Swimmers in their tracks.

Another thing you can do is place a Nattorei over one of your Dragon sweepers. While Nattorei does halt the offensive momentum of this team somewhat, he is able to supply hazards as well as stop Kingdra in its tracks.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to find a 100% solution to deal with rain sweepers, unless you are willing to completely restructure your team. Good luck.

I also agree with nattorei. it greatly alleviates your problem with rain, and it gives you a dragon resist (mangnezone doesnt count, its not bulky enough to wall dragons and its not fast/strong enough to threaten any of them either).
Your team is pretty weak to bulk-up Roob, as it easily lives scarf overheat and does a number on your team. (with +1 or +2 def mence/chomp/ono cant touch it, and drain punch will heal it all back) specs latios would help in that regard alot over sazandora (latios>sazandora imo, esp cause you in particular dont fear T-tar trapping, but rather welcome it) I also think anti-lead dragonite is better than lead sazandora, so you could give that a shot.

Firstly, it's 4DRAG1MAG1TAG, not "4 Part Drag, etc". Onto the rate:

DD Mence sends you flying over the seven seas =D. I'd say replace Sazandora with Scarf Latios, that way you can check dangerous Dragons that can automatically 6-0 you. Yeah, 4drag2mag has really gotten ineffective this gen due to weather and (in Dream World) Ditto.

Another thing:
I rarely ever use a move other than outrage with this guy, the only thing that can safely switch in against this monster is shedinja. It is simply amazing. Really not much to say here that has not already been said. Very simple yet effective.

Shedinja can't take anything from Ononokusu because of Mold Breaker. Shadow Claw is not needed. Just replace it with Dragon Claw for a better spamming move.

As the pioneer of 4drag2mag, I can give some input. The best part of 4drag2mag is Choice Scarf, every Dragon is supposed to have Scarf because then they will outspeed the opposition and 1hko/2hko everything before they are damaged. The original 4th gen team is right here and I suggest reading it as it gives reasoning behind many of my move choices. I updated 4drag2mag for gen 5 and you chose the Pokemon I used, Onono, Garchomp and Nigslammer and they both work quite well. However I have some issues with some of your move choices.

Fire Blast on Nigslammer isn't exactly needed, the Pokemon you will be using the Fire move on are hit super effective and don't really enjoy taking Fire moves in general. I would opt for standard Flamethrower so you don't risk misses. U-Turn is interesting in concept but I very much prefer Dark Pulse for STAB and consistent damage when Draco Meteor is a poor move choice.

Like I said before the thing that makes 4drag2mag good is Scarf, I use a mixed set on Salamence and it works wonders. Earthquake Spiral is nice, especially in combination with Outrage kills, but Intimidate does help Salamence switch into physical Pokemon.

Again I Scarf Onono, but I also use Rivalry for an extra boost, though that is up to the user. I prefer the extra power and sometimes the decrease really hurts, but with its massive attack it doesn't notice it much. Additionally use X-Scissor over Shadow Claw, Celebi is a problem sometimes.

Again I would Scarf Chomp, its what makes 4drag2mag effective.

The Mag and Tag are standard so I don't have any input there.

I can say that Rain really screws up any 4drag variety, there wasn't that issue in gen 4, but now there is with Drizzle running around on Politoed. If you can somehow get around Kingdra and Ludicolo it becomes a tad easier, but even then it is an uphill battle and you will more often that not lose to opposing Rain teams. But with 4drag teams it is all or nothing, click Outrage and go to work, often times the battle is decided before the match begins.

To not get destroyed by Rain teams when using 4drag2mag (or whatever we're calling it this gen) is Nattorei over one of your trappers, usually Shanderaa. Magnezone is usually enough since most teams will only have one of Nat, Foretress, Zong or Skarm, and even them it can take out more than 1. SpD Nattorei will patch that rain weakness up and give you nice Hazards/ T-wave support , although you lose your tag.
ALTERNATIVE: Kingdra over Onono.

nice team :D

But you get problems with rain.
LO Ludicolo sweeps every single of your pokemon
So i would recommend you to play Kingdra > Salamence
It can Dragon dance as well, and it kills every single rain sweeper :D
I dont know why do you play magnet rise on Maggy...
You should try to run Twave, to cripple the pokemons, if you kill a steel behind the sub ;D
I would play Latias>Sazandora, cuz sazandora gets killed by every fighting prio, and latias is much better
Specs or scafed, wathever you want, but i would use scarf to revenge kill +1 Mence and Chomp, which are often copied by ditto.

I think theres nothing more to say :D
Good job

i believe on sazandora timid is necessary to outspeed all +1 ononokuso who will otherwise poopscoop ur whole team with a possible ddance outrage brick break earthquake set

Consider reconstructing your team to accommodate weather, as weather is rampant. Try fitting a TechniLoom somewhere to combat sand teams.
