4th Gen OU Para Hax

Greetings fellow Smogonites. I have for quite a while used the RMT forum to "aid" my teams so I decided to make my first own RMT. This is a team I created for a battle against a friend who is new to competitve battling. We decided to do a no entry hazard battle so please keep that in mind while commenting. To welcome him in I decided to hit him with some Hax. More specificly Para Hax.

Team Building Process

Due to the fact that we were using no entry hazards, this let me choose a more aggresive lead. My Gyarados' Thunder Wave is to add to the whole theme of Para Hax. I chose Electivire over Jolteon as a Electric absorber as after a +1 speed boost he can outspeed and Earthquake any electric Pokemon barring scarfers.

The two most common Hax Pokemon make sense on my team as they both excell with paralysis everywhere.

I want to give credit to ugg for the idea of Tyranitar and Gliscor as evasion Hax. It is a great idea and I thank you. That being said, I chose to go a different route with my Tyranitar.

Gyarados @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 88 Spd / 168 Def
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Dragon Dance
-Thunder Wave
-Waterfall
-Bounce/Stone Edge

I chose Gyarados as a lead as I have had success with him in the past and he fits well with my team's paralysis focus. The speed EVs are to outspeed positive natured base 100s and the attack EVs are just for power. I decided to throw the rest into defense for bulk (open for suggestions). The Lum Berry allows me to absorb status while boosting more allowing for sweeps.

Type Synergy:

Electric: Electivire, Gliscor
Rock: Jirachi

Electivire @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpAtk / 4 HP
Nature: Mild (+SpAtk, -Def)
-Thunderbolt
-Flamethrower
-Cross Chop
-Earthquake

Electivire has great synergy with Gyarados and can be useful in absorbing harmful Thunder Waves sent towards my team. I chose to max my attack EVs so that I can 1 hit opposing Electivires. Max special attack is for power and I just threw in some HP. Other than that it is a standard mixed Electivire.

Synergy:

Ground: Gyarados, Togekiss, Gliscor

jirachi.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 164 HP / 168 Atk / 176 Spd
Nature: Jolly (+Spd, -SpAtk)
-Substitute
-Thunder Wave
-Iron Head
-Fire Punch

I chose Jirachi as one of the two Pokemon to center my party around. I chose the Substitute Thunder Wave version off of the Smogon website so that is why I chose the respective EVs. Jirachi for me is one of my three key paralyzers which is the whole point of this team. He can start to destroy teams once he has a sub up and just doesn't stop. He is by far the best Hax Pokemon so it is almost essential for me to include him. Fire Punch is for steels yada yada.

Synergy:

Fire: Gyarados, Tyranitar
Ground: Gyarados, Togekiss, Gliscor

468.png

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SpAtk / 2 Def
Nature: Timid
-Substitute
-Body Slam
-Air Slash
-Nasty Plot

This is basicly a mirror of Jirachi only body slam in case I run into some ground Pokemon. I chose to run Nasty Plot over Aura Sphere that way I can invest EVs into defences (I realy would appreciate help with choosing EVs. I do want to be fast though). My Nature also is subject to change. Togekiss is good for physical walls Jirachi can't plow through.

Synergy:

Rock: Jirachi
Ice: Jirachi
Electric: Electivire, Gliscor

248.png

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Nature: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 176 SpAtk / 20 Spd
Nature: Quiet (+SpAtk, -Spd)

Tyraniboah works well with paralysis as it lets him sub up and wreak havoc. I am using the Smogon EV spread and Ttar's main purpose in this team is to set up sandstorm for Gliscor.

Synergy:

Water: Gyrados
Ground: Gyrados, Togekiss, Gliscor
Fighting: Gyrados, Gliscor
Grass: Jirachi, Togekiss
Bug: Gyrados, Togekiss, Gliscor
Steel: Gyrados, Electivire

472.png

Gliscor @ Bright Powder
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpDef
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpAtk)
-Substitute
-Swords Dance
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge

As this is not my set, I will let ugg describe it to you.
Yes. The showstopper. This Gliscor is almost impossible to take down if I can manage to set-up on someone who's paralyzed and / or confused. I ALWAYS make sure that I get Sandstorm up before I send him in. The combination of Substitute, BrightPowder and Sand Veil is amazing. When a Pokemon is paralyzed and confused, they can only attack 37.5% of the time, right? Now imagine that with 30% evasion. Yeah, I know. You'll only be able to hit Gliscor 37.5% of the time, and if you do manage to get past that, a 100 accuracy move is reduced to 70 accuracy. Earthquake and Stone Edge round the set off with great OU coverage, only resisted by a handful. I've been able to pull so many wins out of my ass with this Gliscor that it's not even funny.
Athough I dont use confusion, it is the same idea.

Synergy:

Water: Gyrados
Ice: Jirachi

The biggest thing I notice is that Gyarados is so important for your team. He has important synergy with 4/5 other team members, and without him Tyranitar and Jirachi are in trouble. This is compounded by the fact that he 1) Has no recovery and 2) is being used in the lead position, opening him up to more abuse right off the bat. To fix the first problem, I would give Jirachi/Togekiss Wish to help him out and/or get him out of the lead position. Dragonite could potentially take some huge defensive pressure of Gyarados, if you can find a team slot for him. He also learns Thunder Wave, which goes with the whole Hax theme.

Second, I would switch Tyranitar with Hippodon if all you want is Sand Stream. Hippowdon has less weaknesses and more Physical bulk, again taking pressure off of 'Dos.

Third, I would put Roost on Gliscor over SD or Substitute. Being able to recover health would be hell for an opponent when they can hardly ever hit you.

I hope that helps!
