A Boy And His Pokemon (RU team)

Yo
Hi there. My name's Master Win. I'm pretty new to smogon, but I've been able to get the hang of things pretty easily.
When it comes to pokemon battling, I only use the pokemon I LIKE. You see, I have a pretty strong imagination, and I am always thinking up stories in my head. One of them is a teen trainer who wants to become the champion of a new region. In the story, he has the pokemon that I like.
Now when I was on the PO server I thought to myself "Hey, I should make the "journey" team and see how well it would work." Turns out that it worked very well. So well that I got to rank 131 on the RU tier with it! After that I decided to make this RMT and try to actually ladder up to see how high I could get. Anyways, enough of the boring chit chat. Onto the team!

Changes made in Red!

Torkoal @ Leftovers
Ability: White smoke
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 Def/ 129 sp attk/ 129 sp def
- Lava plume
- Stealth rock
- Rapid Spin
- Yawn
WHY TORKOAL? Torkoal is the support pokemon I've always been looking for. He's gotten me out of so many tough situations by statusing opposing sweepers, setting up hazards, forcing switches, and keeping hazards away. If I see a stealth rocker, I send in torkoal first so he wont hurt himself and it usually works. I love when my opponent thinks they have me in a tight spot with a set up sweeper and then the get burned or put to sleep!
254.png

Sceptile @ White herb
Ability: Unburden
Nature: Modest
EVs:252 sp attk/ 252 spd/ 4 hp
- Leaf storm
- Giga drain
- Focus blast
- HP rock
WHY SCEPTILE? You could say sceptile and I have had a little bit of a history. See saphire was my first pokemon game I ever got and the starter I picked was treecko. Sceptile and I go ways back as you can see.
White herb, leaf storm, and unburden rock. So many players forget about unburden and think they can outspeed. It always make me laugh at seeing the silence between me and the player after creaming his sweeper. Focus blast for coverage, giga drain for restoring health, and HP rock is for Honchkrow, Yanmega, and entei.
244.png

Entei @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 attk/ 252 spd/ 4 hp
- Flare blitz
- Stone edge
- Extremespeed
- Substitute

WHY ENTEI? I noticed I really needed a strong fire type pokemon on my team. So I replaced golem for entei. Entei is a great sweeper. He's able to last really long in battles and has sweeped many teams in the past. With crawdaunt and sceptile, I have a good FWG core to work with. Plus he can take down the two main threats of my team. Yanmega and Sharpedo!
545.png

Scolipede @ Focus sash
Ability: Swarm
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 attk/ 252 spd/ 4 hp
- Megahorn
- Rock slide
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
WHY SCOLIPEDE? Scolipede is in my opinion, is the best bug that was introduced in the 5th gen. Base 90 attack may not seem like much, but with a swords dance he can go a long way. Oh ya, and did I forget to mention his base 112 speed? Even without a SD Scolipede can sweep teams very easily, and it's often very hard to take him down. Not alot of things that outspeed him very easily.

342.png

Crawdaunt @ Focus sash
Ability: Adaptability
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 attk/ 252 spd/ 4 hp
- Dragon dance
- Waterfall
- X-scissor
- Night slash
WHY CRAWDAUNT? Crawdaunt is the water type in my team, which finishes a FWG core in my team. Apparently I just noticed that. Crawdaunt is one of those pokemon who kinda needs to set up so he can sweep. But once he does, Crawdaunt is an incredibly hard force to stop. Two stab moves that get boosted by Adaptability? Yes please. I tossed in X- scissor for some coverage. The only thing I need to worry about though, are yanmega, and priority moves like mach punch and sucker punch. Once I'm brought down to my sash, that's when I need to be on high alert for the priority moves. Luckily sash lets me get in a free DD so I can sweep.

277.png

Swellow @ Flame orb
Ability: Guts
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 att/ 252 spd/ 4 hp
- Protect
- Quick attack
- Brave bird
- Facade

NOTE: SWELLOW HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF THE TEAM. TO SEE WHAT I CHANGED IT WITH, LOOK A COUPLE OF POSTS BELOW.

THREATS:
469.png

Yanmega: This dragonfly pokemon can do considerable damage to my team. Crawdaunt, golem, and sceptile beware.
319.png

Sharpedo: Can rip my team to shreds if not prepared. My best bet against it is golem who can E-quake and sucker punch it.

WILL ADD TO THE THREAT LIST LATER!

Well, that's about it. The oddball team has fought through a lot of odds to get here. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to post them on my RMT! I'll be happy to take any help I can get. Master Win, out.

Hey, you have a really cool offensive team. I'll try to help as much as I can.

One thing that really stood out was that Thunder Punch was not getting much use on Golem so I would recommend changing it to Stealth Rock and giving Torkoal Protect instead. Protect allows Torkoal to scout and get Leftovers recovery, and it serves a second purpose of getting an easy sleep after using Yawn if the opponent decides to stay in. Also this is a more efficient EV spread for Golem: 152 HP/252 Atk/104 Def assuming you wish to maximise his physical bulk while keeping max Attack. That spread was obtained using X-Act's defence EV calculator.

The other big thing that stands out is there are four (Sceptile, Scolipede, Crawdaunt, Swellow) late game sweeper/cleaners but no wall breaking Pokemon to help them do their job. A defensive or stall team could really stop them dead so you should probably replace one of them for a wall breaker. I would suggest getting rid of Scolipede because his role is quite similar to Crawdaunt and Swellow already and is just another set up sweeper that doesn't bring anything that the team really needs. In his place you could try a Gallade:

Gallade (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Steadfast
EVs: 240 HP / 20 Atk / 200 SDef / 48 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Psycho Cut
- Taunt

This set is bulky on the special side and very bulky and powerful on the physical side too after a Bulk Up. Drain Punch keeps you healthy while Psycho Cut offers good coverage with STAB to boot. Taunt is his biggest weapon, it prevents status and phazing while allowing you to win against other stat uppers. It is EVed to outrun no investment Cresselia so it can win against it, meaning it can set up on and win against every wall in the tier. That kind of wall breaking power would really benefit your team imo.

I suggest changing X-Scissor to Substitute on Crawdaunt because Sharpedo is OHKOed after rocks by +1 Waterfall anyway (89.3% - 105.3%) so that coverage is not needed and Substitute will really help Crawdaunt set up against support Pokemon. You should use Leftovers on Crawdaunt too as it allows more Substitutes, or Life Orb to boost his power.

Sharpedo and Yanmega are big problems for every team and there is no way to counter them without using certain specific Pokemon, like Munchlax and Poliwrath, so I think the best way to deal with them for you would be to keep SR up at all time and apply enough offensive pressure that they never get to set up. If they do then you can revenge them with Swellow. If they are still giving you lots of problems then you might consider adding Munchlax or Poliwrath to your team, however this will shake up your team synergy quite a bit and I think your team really should be fine as it is.

I just realised that your Torkoal's EVs are a bit crazy, change it to 252 HP/252 Def/4 SpDef to take advantage of his amazing physical bulk! You do not need SpAtk investment because Torkoal is not gonna be hitting anything hard and Lava Plume's main purpose is to fish for a Burn anyway.

Thanks. I have switched swellow for a different mon though. Heeeeeeeeere's Piloswine!

Piloswine @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick fat
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 hp/ 252 attk/ 4 sp def
- ice shard
- icicle crash
- curse
- earthquake

WHY PILOSWINE OVER SWELLOW?
Swellow just wasn't cutting it. It would always get stalled out. However, Piloswine has something that can work. After a curse, Ice shard becomes quite a threat and can take out yanmega and gligar, two tough opponents against my team. Earthquake gives me coverage, and if I just want sheer force, Icicle crash.

Also, I've been thinking of switching one of my mons for entei. However, I don't know which one I should get rid of! I might need to get rid of golem, but I really don't want to. Maybe Crawdaunt?
