A DGS Veteran Team: Raikou and Buddies

Alright, this team has probably netted me the most wins (I only win 50% of the time, nonetheless) and it's definately been the most fun team I've had. Finally decided to make a RMT on it, so here we go.

Roserade (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Toxic Spikes
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Replaced Swampert to absorb and set up Toxic Spikes. The item is iffy, because I'm using her to absorb the spikes as well. Leftovers? Choice Scarf? What is best?

Heracross (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Guts
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit

Heracross is vital to Raikou's success. He takes burns for both Metagross and Raikou, counters Cresselia and Dusknoir (both to an extent), and just lays the hurt down. I may give Metagross Expert Belt and slap a Choice Band or Life Orb on Heracross here; I could use some advice.

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 120 Atk/252 SAtk/136 Spd
Rash nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Flamethrower
- Brick Break

A dangerous pokemon that acts as an offensive Fighting/Bug resist. I didn't want to have 2 pokemon with stat up moves, but if this is too fragile for my resistances, I'll switch to DD-Roost Salamence (or find/come up with a Bulky Salamence set...)

Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 220 HP/36 Def/252 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

I hate Blissey, so here's the next best thing. Snorlax lives forever against special hits, can Rest-Talk, and Body Slam for paralysis. Snorlax and Mesprit cover each other rather well. Snorlax can also be used to soak up Thunder-Waves directed at Raikou or Heracross.

Metagross @ Expert Belt
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/232 Atk/16 Def/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Thunderpunch
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
Another buddy of Raikou and Heracross, Metagross takes paralysis because he just doesn't care about the speed loss. I haven't seen a Magnezone yet, but I'd like to switch to Expert Belt and use Bullet Punch soon as I don't really have a fast team other than Raikou.

Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 64 HP/252 Spd/96 SAtk/98 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Calm Mind

The mastermind behind it all. After Heracross and Metagross have aborbed status and/or have cleared the opponent of special walls, Raikou comes in to finish the job with the deadly Calm Mind set.

Other than Raikou, I'll take any replacement ideas or movement switches. All help is much appreciated!

You really like Lefties on Swampert? I heard that anti-sleep berry (Lum?) was good cause it pwns sleep indcing starters...

Well I suppose you're right; sleep is quite common on leads anyway these days (reminds me of RBY play). Alright, I'll give Lum Berry a try too.

Keep the comments and suggestions rolling!

Raikou, and this team in general are really hurt by Toxic Spikes. Coincedentally, Toxic Spikes also help Raikou sweep, since they indirectly take out threats like Blissey. Roserade both absorbs, and can set Toxic Spikes for you, as well as possesing Sleep Powder. You could put Roserade over either Swampert or Mesprit in my opinion.

And switch the items on Heracross and Metagross. Heracross gets that 2HKO power that he really needs, and Metagross gains the ability to feint a CB, and then to catch Magnezone with an Earthquake (assuming it doesn't Magnet Rise in your face first).

Speaking of Heracross, you have a big weakness to basically every version of it. Your team is extremely slow. If you add, say, bulky Salamence or Gyarados (I would go with Mence, since it has access to Roost) over Swampert, and shift Stealth Rock to possibly Metagross (with the shiny new Expert Belt, can actually use it). Salamence/Gyarados give you a defensive force, but also something that can boost its own speed, to help you against faster threats. Of course, then you lose some coverage against Aerodactyl like you specifically mentioned, as well as Gengar. It's up to you.

Ah IggyBot, I like that advice.

~Going to swap out Swampert for Roserade for a bit to see how that plays out.

~ Metagross gets Expert Belt and Stealth Rock > Explosion (for now.)

~ Heracross gets Choice Band.

~ Mixed Salamence over Mesprit.
