A new team after 6 months (OU)

Hello! I'm back, it's quite 6 months that I don't post anything, because of University and Job, that both takes a lot of my free time. I don't know how Metagame evolved in this six months, I only saw the new tier division, so I'm trying to build a new team, but this time i want to try something unespected, and play on the "surprise" factor. Any suggestion are welcomed, especially this time that I don't have a clear idea on how the metagame evolved.

In Depth

alakazam.png

Wizard (Alakazam) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Trick
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Signal Beam

It's the firts time i try Alakazam. I was scared about his terrible Hp and Defenses and because of it I never used him before. But why not to try him, since he has a huge Sp.Atk force, and a "tricky" move like Trick to play with? He's also my only Special Force in the team, so i think there's nothing that can do damages like him on the Special Side. I'm thinking about replacing him with

Gengar (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Trick
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Explosion

Because I can Trick the enemy in the same way Alakazam does, but i can also Explode in face of Special Walls, or Explode anyway when I don't need anymore his support. Tell me : Do you think Alakazam > Gengar, or
Gengar > Alakazam? Other options are welcomed, too.

gliscor.png

Scorpion (Gliscor) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP/40 Atk/218 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Earthquake
- Baton Pass

When Alakazam has done his Job (hopefully with at least one KO and one Specsed enemy) he comes in and try to set up a Sword Dance, then Baton Pass quickly to one of my other pokes, especially Metagross or Azelf. I chose Hyper Cutter because I can't activate Sand Veil in any way, if the opponent don't have a Sandstreamer, and it can allow me to set up while I can ignore Intimidate or other attemps to take my Atk down.

azelf.png

F-I-T-Z (Azelf) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fire Punch
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Zen Headbutt

Yeah, this set is very "uncommon", but a High Atk Stat, High speed and large coverage makes this set a perfect Sword Dance + Baton-Pass receiver. Yes, he's not too strong without SD support, but I chose him properly for his "Receiver" role. Focus Sash allows me to survive if the enemy attacks on my Baton-Pass.

metagross.png

SuperVehicle001 (Metagross) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Meteor Mash
- Thunderpunch
- Earthquake

Like Azelf, he was built to take advantages from Gliscor's Baton Pass. Sword Dance Bullet Punch can do very High damages on faster enemies, Meteor Mash can hit (with more power than Bullet Punch) slower enemies, Thunderpunch can take down what resist Steel, and Eartquake give me some coverage. Thinking about using Pursuit on this set, but i have no idea on what i should erase to make room for it.

salamence.png

Mency (Salamence) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 80 Atk/252 Spd/176 SAtk
Rash nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Fire Blast
- Brick Break
- Roost
- Outrage

This Mixmence helps me to deal with Skarm-Bliss combination. It can also take advantages from Sword Dance, and fire out an extremely powerful Outrage rampage. Roost gives him a bit of durability, if I found some free turn to use it. I chose her because Mixmence is every useful in my opinion, but I'm thinking to replace her or Blissey with some Bulky Water like Suicune or Vaporeon, or with Starmie (but in this case I'll leave Blissey at her place).

blissey.png

Nurse (Blissey) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 148 HP/252 Def/108 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Softboiled
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave

The main role of her is to cure all status changes of my team, since all of my Team-mates suffer from status. Not much to say, I need her because Special Sweepers can make me some troubles, but i was thinking to replace her with some Bulky Water, like Sleep-Talk Suicune, that can absorb status and give me some coverage that lacks in my team with Surf and Ice Beam.

Now, i can see that Heatran makes me a lot of troubles, since any of my pokes can switch in safety and take him down. He's the main reason I was thinking about insert a Bulky Water. Blissey can wall him, but she can only force him to switch, that's not really what i mean with "counter a pokemon".

Also Water attacks makes me some troubles, since no one resist Water barring Salamence. Another reason to insert a Bulky Water.

Help me to find my weak points, any suggestion is welcomed! Thanks :D

Alakazam is kinda...meh. With the number one lead being metagross, if you do decide to keep him, it is recomened you hold him in reserve and have someone else be your lead.

In this metagame, with bullet punch and pursuit scizor everywhere, substitue gengar is really the only one viable. Gengar @ leftovers with substitute, hidden power: fire, shadow ball, and focus blast is reccomended.

Okay, you have two non-lead sash pokemon and no spinner, which is bad because most players get their stealth rock up early which means gliscor and azelf are out of items. I think Azelf could be better as a straight off the bat sweeper. Azelf @ Life orb with Psychic, Flamethrower, Grass Knot, Explosion is very good.

You should make gliscor a bulky lead with stealth rock-this is very important.

Metagross doesn't need the swords dances to sweep, so I suggest you make metagross the standard agility sweeper to function as your late game sweeper.

Salamence needs Draco Meteor over Brick Break to be succesful.

You have a big scizor weakness, and your team could use some wish support, so I reccomend putting Vapporeon over bliss.

Thats my two cents, good luck

Although having two Dragon moves on Salamence, Outrage and Draco Meteor, seems restricted, Draco Meteor kills so much. If you choose it, dump all your EVs into Special Attack and get your attack boost from Gliscor.

Have you considered making Gliscor into an Attack and Speed passer? Azelf is quick but will still be beaten by scarfers and this holds true for all of your baton pass accepters. If Azelf, Metagross and Salamence got +2 Attack and Speed, they would go from being powerful to almost unstoppable.

You have two Focus Sashers, items that will often be made redundant. On Gliscor I suggest using a Yache Berry, but Focus Sash will still work for Azelf I think. Metagross is quite sturdy and could be used to set up Stealth Rock, either in a tank or lead position. I don;t recommend Ubers are Awesome's idea of Agiligross, as it lacks power compared to your Attack passing. Also, the number one way to stop sweepers these days is with Status, so it would need a lum Berry to preserve its sweep, too much hassle.

Blissey is good but I Agree that vaporeon is a passable option. Or running Protect/Wish on Blissey, allowing you to scout an enemy Scizor's move, block explosions and respond accordingly.

I agree that Gengar is a superior choice over Alakazam. If you gave it a scarf it could also provide as a check against DD Gyarados whom, once Metagross is down, loves to run through this team. Explosion is great but lacks a little power on Gengar, so if you do choose the scarf with a timid nature, you can dump 82 Evs into Attack while still outrunning all +1 Speed base 100 Pokemon, such as Flygon and Jirachi. This will give Explosion a bit more of a boost.

Also, don't run a -ve attack nature on gengar if you're using explosion! Go for Naive of Hasty over Timid.

Azelf is gonna fail, its called a CB scizor, and a BP from it does about 80%, and dont sash gliscor or azelf as neither are leads. IMO metagross is a great receiver of the swords dance, but yours needs more speed.

And i would think that gengar is a better lead, simply because it can survive hits, and it can will o wisp and still dish out damage. This ruins metagross and shadow ball 2HKOs metagross anyway.
