A Pokemon Riddle

The riddle's been solved, guys. There are two solutions:

1. Obi's intended solution

The "something" move is Grass Knot.
In the first scenario, "Barkers" can be either Celebi or Shaymin.
In the second scenario, "Barkers" can only be Celebi.

2. The solution that I posted (with the damage calcs to prove it)

The "something" move is Low Kick.
In the first scenario, "Barkers" can be either Primeape or Lucario.
In the second scenario, "Barkers" can only be Primeape. (Note: It's because Lucario can't be OHKOed by a Mewtwo non-critical Hidden Power, not due to Rest's perceived behavior in the riddle.)

Not only has Obi already said that the Hidden Power isn't necessarily dark, but Obi's also stated the solution to the riddle.

Ha! I was the first one right. I'm awesome. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww-I got it right-someeeeeee.

Also next time make it clear if there are items or not, and with items, that'll just BS every single riddle answer =[ (preferably no items at all!)

You were the first to mention Grass Knot Celebi, yes, but SWChill first mentioned only Celebi and Shaymin while QibingZero first alluded to both Celebi/Shaymin's Grass Knot and Primeape/Lucario's Low Kick.

I really don't like the way I'm coming off in this post, but I just needed to point out that your high horse shouldn't be as high as you're trying to ride it. XD

The thing is, anything that learns Grass Knot, can fit between Pikachu and Raikou's speeds, and can hit 295-412 effective SpAtk (without STAB) will work for the first part. Without items, the base 130+ pokemon that are in the correct speed range still work (Espeon, Latios) until the question of being OHKOed by Mewtwo shows up.

Interesting riddle nonetheless. Looking forward to the next one!

Owned.

Lol, MoP is forgetting the fact that I was the first one to mention Celebi Grass Knot on irc :P

Also, that's lame, Obi just threw two things in at the end.

I was right with Kadabra provided items were allowed (they were originally) and it had to be HP Dark (as was originally stated).

I better win >=0

Where did Obi explicitly allow items?

'But Obi didn't specifically exclude them!' Yes, but the riddle started with a "simple scenario"; wouldn't items complicate things? Also:
I'm somewhat disappointed that no one considered expanding the pool of usable Pokemon by giving Pikachu a Macho Brace and Raikou a Choice Scarf, as that would completely remove the Speed restriction. I'm somewhat glad no one did, because I suspect that there would be more Pokemon that fit the solution.
Besides, "Barkers" was only one of TWO Pokemon. (Obi said that Low Kick was an oversight.) Wouldn't items open up that list to more than two? Even Obi is pretty sure that it would.

'But Obi first said all IVs had to be 31 thus Mewtwo had to have used Hidden Power Dark!' First off, Kadabra isn't guaranteed to be OHKOed in that case. Secondly, if Obi's intended solution was Celebi, there's no WAY that could be true because Mewtwo needs HP Bug to even glance at an OHKO on Celebi (1 in 13 chance, actually).

You know, if you look at guaranteed damages, my solution actually fits better than Obi's! (Celebi has a 1 in 39 chance of breaking Pikachu's sub with Grass Knot.)

Actually no, I'm still awesome. Because if you look in the first post, I mention a list of Low Kickers, which happens to be in the list? WHOA MY GOD PRIMEAPE AND LUCARIO

Also no Aldaron, that first post I had came BEFORE I bruoght up the subject on mIRC, and make no mistake, I was the one who brought it to everyone's attention 2 nights ago in the dead chat!

Therefore I'm still awe

wait for it

some

AWESOME

Fixed. Your list included Electabuzz and Electivire, too. I wasn't about to count that unless only Primeape and Lucario were in the list.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, Electivire at -1 can't kill Raikou in that scenario. STAB makes all the difference, but even Primeape and Lucario can't guarantee the kill. No pokemon works for this all the time, but I believe I listed all the ones that are even possible in my first post in this thread.

Of course, since the rules weren't narrowed down enough and not one single pokemon fits, no one wins! Until next time, at least.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, Electivire at -1 can't kill Raikou in that scenario.

Electivire's -1 Low Kick: 22.74-26.79%
Electivire's critical hit Low Kick: 68.22-80.37% (remember to ignore the Intimidate drop)

Electivire can do the job, but the RNG on the second hit has to be kind to it.

STAB makes all the difference, but even Primeape and Lucario can't guarantee the kill.

I gave the calcs in my big "answer" post, but I'll repost them here:

Primeape's -1 Atk Low Kick: 29.28-34.89%
Lucario's -1 Atk Low Kick: 30.84-36.45%

Primeape's critical hit Low Kick: 88.79-104.67%
Lucario's critical hit Low Kick: 92.52-109.35%

That's a 2HKO with plenty of damage to spare.

Yeah, for some reason I didn't remember that crits hit based from their normal stat, not the lowered one. Usually the only thing that comes into play are crits on a CMing or Cursing pokemon.
