Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Xavier and Cosmo cautiously approach the front door, while Random sneaks around to the back. You can faintly hear panicked shuffling and the cursing of an agitated voice - The count, most likely. It sounds like he doesn't realize you're there. This is it...
*WHAM!*
-Abandoned Shack 1-
Random kicks in the back door. Unlike the other shack you checked out, this one has multiple rooms, and Malcolm is nowhere in this one. What Random does find, however, is a kind of dorky-looking backpacker, bound and gagged.
"Mmph! Mmmpmmmphpphh!"
***
In any case, the sound of Random breaking in is Xavier and Cosmo's cue to do the same. But just before they do, the door suddenly opens. Malcolm must have figured you're trying the back, and looks upon you with horror as he sees you.
"Gah! You're already here!"
Wow. That voice was a lot girlier than it should be. In any case, he bolts back in, and you give pursuit.
"Stop, in the name of love!"
(The law.)
"Right. Stop, in the name of the law!"
Our supposed vampire tries to make his way for the back door, only to find Random waiting for him, and sending out Grandstone in response. The backpacker is still tied up.
"I knew I shouldn't have taken this job! That damn nugget of yours has been nothing but trouble, Horace!"
So that's who the bound guy is. But what's this about a nugget? Before you can ask, however, Malcolm turns to you, his eyes like a cornered Rattata...
"And you! You couldn't just leave me alone, could you?! I could have finally lived the high life if it weren't for you assholes!"
Remember what I said about going into this campaign's mechanics as they come up? Well, one's come up.
Simply put, certain enemies in this campaign get multiple attacks per action - in this case, Malcolm. Pretty simple overall, but just to clear up a few things...
The enemy in question cannot use combos.
The enemy in question will not have attacks that involve charge time, like Fly or Solarbeam. There are exceptions, but they usually are signature moves with special conditions.
Multiple attacks per action will not circumvent moves that cannot be used twice in a row. If the enemy in question uses Protect, and has extra moves left, he still has to wait the action after next before he can use Protect again.
Attack priority still applies. If an enemy were to use Aura Sphere, Extremespeed and Counter in his orders for the action, it would go Extremespeed first, Aura Sphere second, and Counter at the end, with other creatures accordingly moving in between. Energy cost still determines the order of same-priority moves. And finally,
As mentioned before, If multiple attack substitutions would be triggered that action, the move with the highest priority takes precedence. Using the above example, if you were to have a sub against Counter and one against Aura Sphere, the Aura Sphere sub would be the one you use that action.
Anyway, that should clear up any potential complications, but if it doesn't, let me know. Now then, Back to the game!

Shit, I forgot to mention: Horace'll be joining the party for this one, controlled by me. He can't do anything unless you free him, but if you do, I'll have him take orders from you guys if need be. Just make sure you protect him; if he falls in battle, it's game over!
Horace (Male) Nature: NPC (no changes) Type: Normal Abilities: Keen Eye
Quick add-on to the caveats, as Max pointed out: If the enemy in question is under the effects of confusion or paralysis or some other ailment that degrades if you blow it, it will make a check with each attack, but the drop that occurs upon failure will only happen once for that action.
"Whu...? This is the vampire that's been terrorizing the countryside? Let me get this straight, I went all the way to this podunk of a town. A town that by all intents and purposes would not exist if it weren't for a book. I've had to deal with fanboys, fangirls, idiotic Bidoof, uncooperative Zubat, the standard idiocy of my trainer, get mauled by a bear, break a very expensive laptop, and float two people across a river twice. And what awaits me at the end? Some idiot vampire cosplayer wearing a plastic Halloween trinket for fangs?! You sir, have a freaking death wish."
"Cosmo...." :(
"Whatever man, I'm done with you! IAR, save that scientist and let's kill this guy!"
"Cosmo!"
"Figuratively of course."
Xavier: Misty Terrain~Dazzling Gleam
Reuniclus: Confuse Ray (Malcolm)~Dazzling Gleam
Recommended Orders said:
IAR: Free Horace (Tell him to run!)~Force Palm (Malcolm)
Okay, before we go into this, I'm making a few amendments to the multiple attacks thing, as there's a few snags I missed...
7) Like the caveat regarding p/e moves, the consecutive use penalty applies on an action-by-action basis. Using tackle twice in a row on one action will not incur the penalty, but using it the second will.
8) If you succeed in making a flinch check on the enemy, it only applies to the first available attack; because of this, another flinch check will be rolled for the following attack, until either a check fails or the enemy has no attacks left that action.
Anywhat, that's enough of that. Let's get back to work.
Malcolm throws his pokeballs to the floor, both of them slamming against the rotting wood. With a flash of light, the vampire wannabe is flanked by two large, slightly unpleasant-looking Crobats.
"Kazzzzzauuuh!"
"...Kazz?"
"...Zzzauh?"
They look a little confused, having just come out of their balls. They might be a little slow to act.
"Hurry up and get feeding, slackers!"
They DO, however, follow Malcolm's lead as he lunges at Cosmo, engulfing the hapless Reuniclus in a big ball of violence. Cosmo's left a little winded from that, but while your assailants were too busy smacking him around, Xavier engulfs the rest of the shack in a thick mist while Random unties Horace...
"Th, thanks man. I owe you one."
The pokemon are the next to act; Grandstone chucks one of its rocks at Malcolm's leg. He howls in pain from that, and seems to have been slowed down. Slow enough for Cosmo to disorient him with a confuse ray. But the enemy's not done yet - the Crobats finally have their act together, and one of them blasts the party with a heat wave, while the other lulls Grandstone into slumber. They seem to be plotting something nasty...
The party continues to wail on Malcolm, Random pulling the ghost out of his bag and trying to stun him with a force palm, while Xavier channels his magical pixie powers/pulls out a flashbang and hits him with a dazzling gleam. Cosmo follows suit, but the golem's still out of commission. How does Malcolm react to this?
"Oh, oh geez..."
By tripping over a nail that's been sticking out, that's what. However, he quickly gets himself together and orders his Crobats into an all-out attack on Xavier. I should also point out that whatever his bats have been planning were for moot, as per recommendation, Horace ran out the back door in a mad dash to freedom.
"Shit! After him! Eat him if you have to!"
-Teriblired Woods 4-
Horace is pretty familiar with these woods; he should be able to make it to Teriblired on his own. If he hurries, he might be able to reach the cops before Malcolm makes mincemeat out of-
Random: Mach Punch (Malcolm) > Force Palm (Malcolm)
Regirock: Psych Up (Malcolm) > Rock Slide
Maxim your best bet is to hit him on the special side. I am going to become a bit of a deadweight here and Regirock at least can take advantage of Bulk Up use to level the odds but... Hmmm...
Uh, sorry about the wait, have been trying to get on IRC to talk to IAR but I either forget or am not on when he is. In short, I'm not sure it's the best idea to attack Malcolm when Horace is being smacked around by the Crobat. Personally I'm a fan of trapping Malcolm inside the shed using some Rock Slides or something (maybe even bring the whole cabin down on top of him?) and then rushing to Horace's side to kill the Crobat. Alternatively we could split up the party, have the Pokemon deal with Malcolm while the trainers try to take out the Crobat. Thoughts?
Alright, the crunch has brought up another patch...
9) Failed attacks, whether it be via flinching, paralysis or otherwise, do not push the action's moves down.
-Abandoned Shack 1-
Despite Grandstone's Crobat-induced napping, the rest of you wail on Malcolm, now alone thanks to Horace's escape. You can only hope he can shake those damned bats off...
-Teriblired Woods 4-
And immediately we cut to him suffering the very same thing Random's Regirock went through last round.
"Oh, oh geez, I...I..."
Sure enough, he falls to the ground, fast asleep, a pair of very irate Crobats closing in on him...
-Abandoned Shack 1-
It's at this point that Malcolm screams like a man possessed and rushes at Cosmo, grabbing him and wildly cursing as he bashes the hapless Reuniclus against the floor, over and over and over, the force of it all enough to send small chunks of membrane flying. Once he's certain that Cosmo is at least unconscious, Malcolm then turns to you, a mix of desperation and murderous rage in his eyes.
...what the fuck just happened?! This guy was supposed to be a pussy!
Also, Grandstone wakes up and copies the psycho's stat boosts.
WHAT DO, MIGHTY TRAINERS?
Order: Speed Tie (Xavier, Random), Malcolm, Malcolm, Malcolm, Regirock, Reuniclus
Anyway, Xavier is clearly pissed at seeing his beloved Reuniclus savaged so mercilessly, and vows to kill Malcolm dead.
By screaming at him.
Of course, this is not your ordinary scream, and the wannabe vampire staggers, which Random takes advantage of by punching him with his spirit thingy, while Grandstone just punches him.
"DiediediediediedieDIEDIEDIEDIE-"
Malcolm still rants like he's possessed by some demon and grabs Xavier by the head, slamming him against the wall so hard that it makes a hole, the force of the blow knocking our trainer from Kalos unconscious as he tumbles out of the shack. He's out.
-Teriblired Woods 4-
Meanwhile, just outside...
"Ugh, my everything...where am I? And what's that OH SHIT-"
Horace rolls out of the way just in time to dodge one of Malcolm's Crobats dropping a nice, heavy rock on his head. He's woozy, and a little cut up from the scuffle, but he manages to escape towards town.
And naturally, the two bats give chase.
-Teriblired Woods 3-
The I'mtoolazytocomeupwithaname is in sight.
Alright, Teriblired's not too far from h-dammit, they caught up already!"
Not surprising, given how fast they are. Once again, one of the bats tries to hypnotize him, and succeeds...here we go again...
-Abandoned Shack 1-
Two down, two to go. That's what you suspect is going through Malcolm's mind as he gazes feverishly at Random and his Regirock. Is he on some kind of enhancement drug or something? Whatever the case might be, this is going to suck, legendary ally or no.
WHAT DO, RANDOM?
Order: Malcolm, Malcolm, Malcolm, Speed tie (Xavier, Random), Regirock
You have failed the test of patience I have given you, that was most definitely not in any way, shape or form me forgetting that this ab existed. For shame!
Anyway, Random tries to pull a confuse ray out of his bag of tricks, but with Max's squad down, Malcolm lunges at the hapless trainer, beating him down until he lay bloody upon the floor. He's out.
Oddly enough, Grandstone doesn't seem to care about Random's predicament, and just sits there. The alleged vampire, on the other hand, starts bashing the Regirock with a busted chair, cursing and screaming all the while. Grandstone looks like it's taking the blows like a massage.

Horace woke up just in time to catch yet another rock about to get dropped on him, and once again, he dodged it at the last second, and made a break for Teriblired, now in sight.
Meanwhile, Malcolm is wailing on Grandstone with that broken piece of chair, which is about as effective as trying to pierce through ten feet of steel by throwing ants at it. When he realizes that the Regirock is just sitting there, doing nothing, Malcolm decides that he'll just ignore him for now.
Ignore him, and finish the job with the others.
Discarding his busted chair to break off a much heavier table leg, the alleged vampire approaches Random, his closest victim. Malcolm raises it overhead, ready to bash his skull open like a pumpkin...
...and freezes in place the moment he hears people barging in from the front.
You awoke to unfamiliar ceiling and a throbbing headache. Turns out Horace made it to Teriblired and explained everything to the cops - they had arrived just in time to stop Malcolm from killing the lot of you...well, most of the lot of you. Grandstone still looked pretty unfazed by the whole thing.
In any case, Xavier and Random were carried off to Teriblired's local hospital - more of a clinic, but enough to patch your wounds. Although most of you got knocked out, it turns out your injuries weren't too grievous - black eyes and swollen cheeks, at worst. Cosmo's frontal membrane was thin and scarred, but would be back to normal within a week, tops. They couldn't get Grandstone out of the shack - as far as they know, it's still sitting there, possibly crowded by local onlookers. Random might wanna retrieve it once he gets out.
Nevertheless, the doctors saw it fit to keep you bedridden for at least a couple of days - that, and the police wanted a few words with you. Most of it was to get your testimonies about the incident, but they also chewed you guys out for being vigilantes. That said, they did seem pretty grateful for your efforts - Horace was safe and sound, the Zubat have become peaceful once again, and Malcolm sits in a cell, awaiting trial.
Speaking of which...you eventually learned that "Count Malcolm, the immortal vampire" was little more than a common thug from Blutint. He had been paid by unknown forces - possibly business rivals of Horace's - to retrieve that nugget he was talking about before he kicked your shit in, and they had provided him with a machine used to emit radio signals that would drive Zubats into a frenzy. You recall a similar incident happened in Japan some years ago, only with Gyarados.
After a couple of days, you were finally given a clean bill of health and able to go home. As a token of gratitude, Horace offered to buy you lunch just before you left town. Mind you, it was that same crappy burger joint capitalizing on Dusk, but it's not like there was anything better nearby.
"Man, I really owe you guys for all this...I was afraid the cops wouldn't let me have the nugget back."
That reminds you..what's so important about this thing that someone would wanna kidnap him?
"Well, that's the thing...I'm part of a project that my boss would kill me if I ended up blabbing about, so I can't tell you just yet."
Well, that's totally not suspicious.
"Hey, if it's any consolation, you guys'll be the first to know when I can."
Still, how'd he get it in the first place?
"Okay, that I CAN tell you. There's a guy here who collects oddities - can't tell you who exactly, customer confidentiality and all - and he sold it to the guys I work for. They sent me to pick it up, and then...well, yeah. Stupid trashy vampire book..."
With your stomachs sated, you all went your separate ways. Hopefully you'll all meet again...

Welp, it's time to wrap this session up. I apologize for being vague about the prizes, I wasn't quite sure how much tokens to hand out. Hopefully what I fork over should be fair...
If I'm doing the CC calculations correctly, the Zubats, the Ursaring and Malcolm should give you 2, 2 and 3 CC, respectively, but since you managed to clear the chapter, you get an additional 5, for a grand total of 12. Random, you brought a maxed Regirock, so you get 17. Judging from the tiering, I owe you guys 5 adventure counters a pop, but since you took the hard route in the end, I'm not only adding three more to that, but also giving you two heroism badges each. Finally, Maxim's Reuniclus gains 9 MC and a KOC for taking down that Ursaring...wait! One more thing! I'm pretty sure it goes without saying, but the fact that you cleared this chapter means you both get access to the next when it finally comes out.
Oh wait, I forgot my own reward. Lessee, how much does this net me...1 for every creature in a fight, so 7, 6 and 8, that gives me 21. Then there's 1 for every non-combat update...I think that's 19...and then there's the boss fight...3, I think, and lastly, the 1 UC for finishing the AB, putting me at a grand total of...shit, 44? That's a lot...
So all in all, the prizes should look like this:
Maxim:
+12 CC (2 + 2 + 3 + 5)
+8 Adventure tokens (5 + 3)
+2 Heroism Badges
Reuniclus: +9 MC and 1 KOC
Chapter 2 of Glass Pyramid accessible upon release
Its_A_Random:

♫Wicked Mask
With a loud click, the door to Malcolm's cell opened. He had been expecting the two Officer Bobs who ran the station, but instead, it was a pair of burly men in black fatigues and sinister looking masks.
"Well, you sure caused a lot of trouble," Said the left one with brown hair, who we'll dub Mask A.
"You! But the cops-"
"Drugged 'em," Mask B - the bald one on the right - replied. "They won't be waking up anytime soon."
A ray of hope shined on Malcolm's face. "You...you've come to save me?"
Mask A chuckled. "'Save?' That's a funny way of spelling 'silence.'"
Hope turned to fear. "But I haven't told them anything!"
"You told enough," Mask B barked. "And you still lost the orichalcum."
"Please, no! I can fix this! Just give me a-ghankh!"
There was a bit of a tussle, but Malcolm was no match for Mask B's muscle, and was quickly pinned down, choking a little as a funnel was shoved down his throat. He could see Mask A kneeling down, unscrewing a small vial of clear liquid.
"You don't get second chances with us." He poured the mystery liquid down the funnel. "One of our own, maybe, but not you."
"Nhh! Pleeh, nnhaggh...agghaakk..."
Malcolm's struggling eventually turned to convulsions. In less than a minute, he was dead.
