Overview
########
Abra returns to the metagame with it's staggering base 105 special attack, the highest in the tier only tying with Solosis. For a pokemon that spends most of its time sleeping, Abra is extremely fast, reaching the invaluable 19 speed, allowing it to outspeed the majority of the metagame. While the generation shift brought on a lot of new Dark -types, it also granted Abra the new Fairy -type attack, Dazzling Gleam. Now, Abra doesn't have to run the lackluster Hidden Power for coverage, allowing it to maim the Dark -types who would otherwise give it nightmares. Abra's ability, Magic Guard, allows it to effectively utilize a Focus Sash to become an effective revenge killer, hitting a good amount of threats super- effectively.

However, Abra's psychic typing and downright terrible defenses really limit what it can do, as it has to constantly be on look out for Sucker Punch users and scarfed pokemon, who can easily put it to rest, even with neutral attacks.

Focus Sash
==============
name: Focus Sash
Move 1: Psychic
move 2: Dazzling Gleam
move 3: Hidden Power Fighting
move 4: Knock Off / Protect
ability: Magic Guard
item: Focus Sash
EVs: 240 Spa / 200 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
=====
Psychic is Abra's trusty STAB move, as it is both powerful and reliable. It allows Abra to revenge kill Fighting- or Poison -type threats. Its newest move, Dazzling Gleam, allows it to hit the Dark -types who are immune to it's STAB, while Hidden Power Fighting is great for hitting Pawniard and Houndour super effectively, as they are only neutral to Fairy -type attacks. Finally, Knock Off allows Abra to hinder its counters, namely Porygon and Munchlax, by severely lowering their bulk as well as removing any Berry Juice from Pokemon like Magnemite. Protect, however, can be used to stop nasty Fake Out users who threaten to null Abra's precious Focus Sash

Set Details
========
Thanks to Magic Guard and Focus Sash, it is impossible to OHKO Abra. Therefore, this set works best as a "fail-safe" against set-up sweepers. It is also still incredibly powerful and fast, so it can be useful late-game to put heavy offensive pressure. The EVs are used to get Abra the most speed and power, as its defenses are pretty much unsalvageable. Timid nature is the best, as it allows Abra to hit 19 speed, giving it the ability to outspeed all large majority of the metagame.

Usage Tips
========
This set should never be switching in, lest it take a hit and lose its focus sash. Most attacks, even neutrally effective ones, will take out a good chunk of its health. Abra is great at revenge killing set-up sweepers, such as Scraggy, so keeping its sash in tact should be a massive priority. Once Abra has lost its sash, it has to be wary of scarfed pokemon, who can outspeed Abra and take it down before it has a chance to attack. Priority is another concern, especially Sucker Punch.

Team Options
==========
This set finds its best use on Hyper-Offensive teams that may have a hard time dealing with set-up sweepers. Slow Volt Switch or U-turners, such as Nosepass or Chinchou, help Abra get on the field without having to take any damage. Pokemon who can clear away dark-types, especially Pursuit or Sucker Puncher users, will be helpful to Abra as well: Fairy-types, like Spritzee and Cottonee, or Fighting-types, like Minefoo or Timburr, work well in this situation. The latter are also able to take down bulky normal types, such as Porgon and Munchlax, whose high Special Defense stats make them good checks to Abra.

Life Orb
==============
name: Life Orb
Move 1: Psychic
move 2: Dazzling Gleam
move 3: Hidden Power Fighting
move 4: Substitute
ability: Magic Guard
item: Life Orb
EVs: 240 Spa / 200 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
=====
Psychic and Dazzling Gleam get good coverage that is rounded off by Hidden Power Fighting. Unlike the Sash set, Abra won't be able to survive hits from most boosted sweepers, so it needs its coverage in order to maximize its power. Since Abra naturally forces a lot of switches, Substitute is its best option for a fourth move, putting pressure on the foe to attack and often times allowing it to safely get a 2HKO. Additionally, it protects it from the nasty Sucker Punches that would otherwise KO it.

Set Details
========
This set is designed to hit as fast and hard as possible. Abra reaches a mighty 20 special attack and hits the desired 19 speed, letting it outspeed most unboosted Pokemon, like Gastly. Life Orb makes Abra's moves much more powerful and the negative health draining effect is nulled thanks to Magic Guard. Due to its extreme power, not a lot of Pokemon will be able to stand up to an attack, therefore it makes a good wallbreaker.

Usage Tips
========
Like the Focus Sash set, Abra is too frail to be switching in, so coming in to revenge kill or after a slow Volt Switch or U-turn is most desirable. If you predict the enemy will switch, Substitute is the best option, putting the opponent in a bad situation. It can also help protect Abra from dark-types who try to trap it with Pursuit or strike it down with Sucker Punch. Basically, predication is the key to victory with Abra, as it has the moves to 2HKO a lot of Pokemon in the metagame.

Team Options
==========
This set is good for Hyper-Offensive teams that need to be able to break through bulky walls, since Abra is so powerful it's hard for any Pokemon to switch in. Abra usually has trouble dealing with Ghost-types, so pokemon like Porygon and Munchlax are helpful, and in return, Abra can scare away Fighting-types who threaten them. Fighting- and Fairy-types make good partners as well, being able to counter the Dark-type pokemon who are immune to Abra's STAB. Additionally, Slow U-turners and Volt Switchers can help Abra get into battle without taking too much damage.

Other Options
==========
Abra also gets Charge Beam to deal a little damage and boost its Special Attack, but Abra is so frail that it's generally not worth it. This is also the case with Calm Mind. Abra can set up Dual Screens, and has a fast Encore to help it set up. Abra also has access to Psyshock to catch Munchlax off guard, but Little Cup is a very physically defensive metagame, and it misses a guaranteed OHKO on some important pokemon, such as Timburr, if Abra is not running Life Orb. A scarf set with Trick could be interesting, and is useful for revenge killing faster threats like Dragon Dance Scraggy and other scarfers. Finally, for the Focus Sash set, Thunder Wave can be useful for crippingling boosted threats that Abra wouldn't otherwise be able to OHKO, such as Tirtouga or Dwebble.

Checks & Counters
==============
**Dark Types**: Dark types like Pawniard, Stunky, and Houndour are capable of giving Abra a headache with their immunity to Psychic-type attacks and neutrality to Fairy -type attacks. They put a lot of pressure on Abra with their super effective attacks, especially the nasty Sucker Punch. Carvanha, while also frail, can stall out Speed boosts with Protect until it is able to outspeed Abra and Crunch for the KO.

**Munchlax**: Munchlax has enough special bulk to eat virtually everything Abra can launch at it, including Hidden Power Fighting. It is also capable of trapping Abra with Pursuit or slowing it down with Body Slam.

**Scarfed Pokemon** As long as Abra has lost its Sash, scarfed pokemon will outspeed Abra and take advantage of its low defenses to get an easy KO.

**Paralysis**: Due to Abra's reliance on speed, being paralyzed greatly hinders its ability to perform. Slowpoke and Porygon can survive any of Abra's attacks and spread Thunder Wave, while ultimately healing any lost health back with Regenerator or Recover respectively.

**Sticky Web**: Magic Guard does not protect against the speed boost drop and the Bug-types who can set up the Sticky Webs are capable of picking off Abra with their STAB.

I'll take a more in depth look at this later, but one thing I think you should do is just call the set 'Attacker' and put the option of Life Orb in Set Options (which idk somehow got erased, but isn't there) Life Orb Abra hits like a monster, and while it is frail and weak to priority, it has a niche over the sash set because nothing can really outspeed it to hit it anyway.

Speaking of priority, that should be in checks & counters.

Thanks Electro, I'll make the changes now.

Slash Substitute in the last slot, Abra forces a ton of switches and can 2HKO a huge portion of the tier with Life Orb.

Psyshock 2HKOs Eviolite Munchlax without SR and nothing else.

Dual Screens + Encore is cool, Abra is really fast.

It has Calm Mind too, but it's too frail.

Also Knock Off is still awesome for crippling everything.

edit: alternatively if QC think sub+lo and focus sash are played differently enough to warrant 2 sets, then i guess that's fine, i personally don't think it's necessary. the way they play is pretty similar, basically being a revenge killer, and usage tips, team options will basically just be repeats.
set
I really think Sub should be given a slash on the last slot, like Darkamber said. it does cause a lot of switches and it also give it the ability to lure Pawniard and Murkrow with HP Fighting/Dazzling Gleam without needing to hit them on the switch, depending on which you are running. I think HP Fighting should actually be slashed in slot 3 as well, just for Pawniard. so basically:
-Psychic
-Shadow Ball
-Dazzling Gleam / HP Fighting
-Protect / Substitute / HP fighting.
along with a mention that protect is for focus sash and sub is for LO.

moves
mention how protect can also be used for scouting scarfers like snover and stuff.

set details
Mention that the EVs give Abra 19 speed which is the magical speed tier, tieing with Misdreavus and Gligar most importantly.

usage tips
In general this could probably be expanded even though abra plays relatively simply. talk about how it can't be switching in to ANYTHING due to its reliabilty on focus sash and it being so incredibly frail. so if you're using sash, preserve it at all costs. mention if you're not using sub, its quite prediction reliant hitting pawn, krow or missy etc. super effectively on the switch in.
less emphasis should be put on its ability as a fighting types counter (in team options as well). yes, abra can be sent in vs. a fighting type after one of your mons die but the fighting-type is most likely to switch. it can't be used as a counter to fighting types because it can't switch in... even most fighting types drain punch deals 50%. so basically mention how its a revenge killer in general, can be sent in after any slower pokemon is in KO range.

team options
as i said in usage tips, abra hardly ever succesfully removes fighting types. if you are packing carvanha for example, the fighting type user would be a pretty bad player if he just let his timburr die when you have carv in your party.
abra can, however, manage to lure a murkrow or a pawniard or a misdreavus, especially if it runs sub and life orb(guarantees the ohko on BJ missy and on eviolite 36/20 krow). so mons that like these gone are good... a fighting type of your own for example, especially meditite or really struggles with the 2 Ms. or something like agility porygon who can struggle to get past pawniard, if it doesn't have HP fight.
i'd remove the mention of defog gligar... yes, sticky web is a bitch but is extremely rare, and one of the main selling points of abra is that it doesn't really need much hazard-removal support.

other options
charge beam, but abra hasn't got a lot of time to be setting up.
anything that darkamber mentioned
energy ball guarantees the ohko on berry juice chinchou with SR, but not really worth it, psychic already has a 50% chance to KO.
choice scarf outspeeds like everything... it also gets trick. can be good, especially for revenging other scarfers or stuff like DD scraggy.

c&c
scarfers, scarf mienfoo, scarf chinchou etc.....

I don't even know if Life Orb deserves a slash. Abra will die to a gust of wind; it needs that sash assurance that it can live at least one attack. Unless LO gets some very important kills that sash does not, I would put LO in Usage Tips or Team Options or wherever it goes. Also, Pawniard is SOOOOO easy to predict coming in. Even if not predicted, every Pawniard has not only stayed but switched into my Abra and was promptly OHKOed by HP Fighting. IMO, it deserves the slash over Protect.

I also would softly argue that Scarf deserves its own set. I say softly because I have not playtested that set, unlike sashed Abra.

The only thing HP fighting is hitting harder than Dazzling Gleam is pawniard. Psychic hits Porygon and Munchlax just around the same, and Abra shouldn't got 1v1 against either of those two anyway.

that's why you have sub

sub+sash = not good

sub+LO+magic guard = good

All right, I see your point. It just wasn't made clear to me that sub should only be with LO.

Also, Sub and HP Fighting makes Abra much more suited to take on Pawniard, setting up a sub on the switch and OHKOing with HP. Just a thought to take on one of its biggest counters.

236 SpA Life Orb Abra Dazzling Gleam vs. 156 HP / 36 SpD Eviolite Pawniard: 10-13 (43.4 - 56.5%) -- 90.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

can play around spunch w/ sub

I would like to see a Specs set. It's got the scariness to force switches and the power with Specs gets 2HKOs on everything in the tier. Also it gets Trick, which is nifty. Frailty might be too much for the poor thing to run Specs well, but I'd like to see it mentioned if not given its own set.

specs is bad when it has magic guard LO that produces about the same damage output with 0 recoil and the ability to switch moves.

Sash is a generally a set that is used to make sure you don't lose to things like +2 Clamperl, Bellsprout in the sun, Tirtouga, Carvanha, etc and is something that is good to slap on something like a hyper offensive team as a safety net so you don't get swept. It is also weak as shit, being unable to OHKO Mienfoo, Timburr, Foongus, Eviolite Krow, Drifloon, etc and fails to 2HKO things like Porygon and Spritzee.

LO Abra on the other hand, cannot take a single hit, but on the other hand, basically 2HKOs the whole tier and actually OHKOs everything that it hits super effectively.

You shouldn't rely on SashBra to break any walls, or even beat any fighting types really, it's solely a "safety net" sort of revenge killer, somewhat like HazeKrow in a sense. LO Abra on the other hand is a wallbreaker/sweeper. They perform different roles, and as Corkscrew mentioned, should have different sets.

Thanks, I'll edit that in and separate the sets.

Nice job! Looks good, I'd still slash in Protect on the LO Set because it lets you scout things you know are choiced, as well as keeping you safe from Fake Out which is important even without Sash because Meditite's can do over 50%

I agree with Corkscrew that the two sets are pretty similar, enough that one set to cover both is sufficient for this analysis. I also agree with Corkscrew's set, namely:

Move 1: Psychic
Move 2: Shadow Ball
Move 3: Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power Fighting
Move 4: Protect / Substitute / Hidden Power Fighting

With max SpA / Spe Timid, and sash / LO as item.

They pretty much play the same way, the only difference is from a defensive standpoint. Sash obviously has more longevity and therefore can be played more recklessly, but LO just powers through things. Keep in mind that Abra isn't as frail as you guys claim it to be- it can easily survive resisted attacks and some neutral ones too, provided they aren't too powerful.

Combine the two into one set, and I'll look it over again to make sure it's all good, and then stamp this.

Ok, fixed it. How is it now?

Looks good, just

- Call the set "Attacker", and slash in Focus Sash with Life Orb

Moves:
- Don't forget to explain HP Fighting, which works better against a majority of the common Dark-types in the tier.
- Mention that Protect is for Sash, Sub is for LO

Set Details:
Go a little more in depth here.
- Explain the EV spread- max Speed investment to hit coveted 19 spe and tie with Krow / Missy. Then max SpA for max power
- Explain the function of LO- basically that it turns Abra into a destructive machine and lets it 2HKO *most* opponents. Also, Magic Guard prevents LO recoil
- Sash is to basically make Abra impossible to OHKO. Abra is immune to indirect damage so the sash will always be intact unless Abra is actually hit.

Usage Tips-
Remove the mention of it getting Dazzling Gleam; that doesn't belong there.
This is where you mention difference in LO / Sash playstyle.
- LO is more of a hit and run attacker or late game cleaner. It can't really afford to take hits while it dishes out its attacks, but does hit like a truck. Be sure to use Protect to scout for priority and rogue Scarfs.
- Sash is more of a panic button or revenge killer. Utilize the Speed and Sash to play a bit more recklessly, as well as stop rampaging setup sweepers. It also has the cleanup potential of LO but is noticeably weaker.

Team Options-
- Mention things that counter Dark-types. Fighting-types are great partners; they also beat down on Special Walls and remove Normal / Dark-types
- Fairies are cool too, remove Dark-types.
- Abra appreciates slow VoltTurners to get it in safely. U-Turners also ward off Dark-types.
- Status abusers (WoW, TWave, Sleep, Confusion) help give Abra opportunities to attack

Other Options-
- Remove Sub mention; it's already on the set
- Knock Off is 65 BP, not 20 like you said

Do all that and this is QC approved!

The Knock Off bit was referencing Abra's attack stat, but I can see how it could be confusing. I'll just remove that.

I've finished editing everything. Thanks everyone!
