One question I have here is, well, how would Fairy's attacking type be handled in Gens 1-3?

You can easily explain Gen 1 Dark/Steel type moves thanks to their appearances in Gens 2-3 - they just won't have STAB - but Fairy has never had a generic type designation, last I checked.
 
She means physical/special.
oh, okay, fair enough, special then, since all of the other eeveelutions are special types, and it makes the most sense IMO. You could even add that as an option that you can change when setting up the custom battle, I would suggest special by default though.

Edit: it is physical in custom battles.

the rules +future and +past allow... future and past. obtainable abilites / moves restricts obtainable abilities/moves but idk how they work either future/past. there's also no seperation between movepools/abilities/items

Current implementation: Fairy attacks are SE against Dark and Dragon, resisted by Fire and Poison, and neutral on steel (as its type chart is changed G5 so it doesnt acc for fairy). Fairy attacks default to physical.
Theoretically it should be special as play rough is the only phys fairy move, but dark pulse was the only special move (dark being special bc ghost was physical because lick).
Fairy defensively is the same as ???.

Um, fairy has the least amount of physical moves of all 18, which is two, and one of them is grimsnarll's signiture move.

i assume it was the default, and theres no real motivation to change it
(also dark had no special moves, and ghost 2 physical moves from gen 1-3)

Three, actually. Lick, Astonish, Shadow Punch. Compared to special's one (two if you count Night Shade). Even today, Ghost has more physical attacks than special.
 
where is the code for this btw? was trying to look into this and couldn't find the code for +future and +past. I think it'd be neat to be able to specify by generation and further specify things like abilities, items, and mons
