Welcome to the 8th edition of ADPL, and the second sponsored by Trainer Academy! Hosted by myself and clean. This is a team tour that will encourage learning a team tour environment through placing undrafted players in a pool that will be automatically distributed among the teams, with one week of guaranteed play time for each player. From prepping, mock games, tiebreaks, last second substitutions, crazy upsets, and heartbreak: no matter the skill level players WILL be able to participate. The teams who will succeed will need to not only succeed in crafting a team of skilled individuals for all listed tiers, but also be able to lift up their less experienced players to unexpected wins. For less experienced players, this is one of if not the best opportunities to get drafted and compete for a custom avatar, as well as experience a higher level of play than they may be used to. The tiers are listed below:

Undrafted players will be placed in a pool, of which each team will be randomly distributed 5 players, for a total of 50 players. The goal is to maximize the players distributed to each team, and promote a learning environment for as many people as possible. Each player in the team, regardless of drafted or not, will be required to play at least one game throughout the regular season. Undrafted players will be playing a separate best of 3 series, which will count for 1 win on the week total. SV OU will be a static tier for every week, with each team picking a tier from gens 1-9. Undrafted players will be able to be slotted into the main roster as a starter at the cost of generally not being able to be subbed out. Their place can be taken in the Undrafted Bo3 by a sub from the main roster. If a sub is required for that slot, it must first go through host approval, and can be subject to rejection.
Each team selects one tier to play among the 9 generations of OU, along with Gen 9 OU being static each week. Then, managers will select from their undrafted pool of players for each tier. Below is an example of how a week could proceed:
Team Number (2) vs (3) Team Letters
Undrafted Best of 3: 3 - 0
SV OU: Player 1 vs Player A
BW OU: Player 2 vs Player B
GSC OU: Player 3 vs Player C
SV OU: Player 4 vs Player D
SV OU: Player 5 vs Player E
SS OU: Player 6 vs Player F
SM OU: Player 7 vs Player G
Even though Team Number won the undrafted best of 3, it's only counted for a single point, letting Team Letters win 3-2 as they won 3 games across the other tiers.

Players who are inactive will be handled on a case-by-case basis by hosts, but it is also up to the managers of each team to ensure that especially undrafted players are able to take place in discussions surrounding prep for each week. If managers attempt to abuse this rule to replace subpar players, there may be consequences decided by host discretion.
If you are interested in playing, be aware that any team may buy you, and you are expected to play for any one of them. Only list tiers in your signup that you are willing to play. These signups are binding for almost the entire tour, they will affect how the managers will see you, and you are expected to play them if necessary. If you would not consider seriously playing a tier in a tournament, do not list it.
For the entirety of the regular season of ADPL, players are not allowed to play in the tiers listed as "NOT played" in their signups post. They will only be allowed to play those tiers in tiebreak situations. We will be enforcing this rule for all players, with the exception of undrafted players. This is intended to address price fixing and encourage players to sign up for tiers they are most skilled in, rather than attempt to reduce their auction price.
To be crystal clear: "Tiers NOT Played" will bind you from playing in those tiers, and you should use it only if you do not intend to play that tier under any circumstance for the entire season, bar tiebreaks. "Tiers Played" is a non-binding field that you can use to communicate your preferences to all managers.
You are generally expected to participate in your team's Discord. While we understand that activity levels may vary, this is the core portion of ADPL, and what makes it fun. Your team's Discord server is where your team will hang out, discuss strategies and just have fun without worrying about the game. This is where teams come together (or fall apart), and likely the most integral part to the entire tournament.

Retainer rules:
A team may retain up to 4 players total, including managers, but is not required to retain any. For example you may self-buy both managers, then you would only be able to retain up to 2 additional players from the previous roster. Without any managers retained, the limit is 3 retained players. Undrafted players from the previous year will be ineligible for retaining. For example, Ironclad Infernapes could not elect to retain polt.
The cost to retain a player on their first year as a retention will be the HIGHER of the following two scenarios (unchanged from last year):
1. The amount that the player went for in the last auction + 3k (ex. if Oglemi was bought for 13k, it would cost 16k to retain him)
2. 10k, if the previous price + 3k would end up being lower than 10k (ex. if Oglemi was bought for 6k, his retaining cost would be 10k, not 9k)
Remember that a player bought for under 10k during last year's auction will not necessarily cost just 10k to retain. If Oglemi was bought for 9k in last year's auction, he would cost 12k to retain this year, not 10k.

Each team will have 140k credits. Each Manager and Assistant Manager have the option to purchase themselves, and, if they do so, 20k will be subtracted from the team's credits for the first purchased manager, then 15k for the second.
The auction will be scheduled between the Managers and Assistant Managers so that at least one member from each team will be able to stay during the entire auction.
Once a time is set, the Managers, Assistants, and hosts will join a room where the auction will take place. Spectators are allowed to see the auction, but will not be allowed to speak. Discussions about what happens in the auction should be happening in an appropriate chat, such as the tournament's Discord.
The hosts will ask the first team to nom a player. The nomination order will follow a snake pattern (meaning the order will be fully reversed every round). The tiers each player signed up for will be informed after every nomination. Then the bidding will commence, each player will have a starting bid of 3k, and every manager can put their bids on the chat raising a minimum of 0.5k (or 500) credits. If after some seconds there are no new bids, the player is sold to the team with the highest current bid. There will be a 5 second warning before the bidding for a player is closed. Managers are expected to have a list of players they intend to nominate, and draft so the auction goes as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
Each team must complete a roster of 11 starters and 2 substitutes, including managers that have purchased themselves to play. 3k or more will be paid for every player, therefore a team can't spend a value that will result in his or her team being unable to reach the minimum of players. The players from the undrafted pool will be added after the auction, so they will not count in the 13 required players.
