General Rules, Mechanics, and Usage Tips
  • Monotype is a format where all Pokémon on your team must share a common type. Both single- and dual-type Pokémon are allowed. For instance, Gengar is eligible for both mono-Ghost and mono-Poison teams.
  • ADV is a past generation that has a weird approach to Hidden Powers such as physical Hidden Power Ghost , Flying, and Bug while other HPs like Water, Fire, and Grass remain special.

What is ADV Monotype?

ADV Monotype is a collaboration between the Monotype & ADV Moderation team to create a Monotype tier based on the Gen 3 OU metagame with a simple same-type clause modifier. The Monotype OM and ADV Moderation team released ADV Monotype in December alongside a starting ADV Monotype Kickoff tournament after the advanced development of seasoned resources such as Viability Rankings, Sample Teams, Sample Sets, Speed Tiers, and more to come.

Salac Hypnosis Yanma + ChestoResto Shuckle by kiru
:ninjask: :heracross: :armaldo: :scizor: :shuckle: :yanma:
Salac+Endure Venomoth + CB Ninjask by kiru
:ninjask: :heracross: :armaldo: :pinsir: :venomoth: :yanma:
Fish Sleep Parasect + Dance Surskit by kiru
:ninjask: :heracross: :armaldo: :scizor: :parasect: :surskit:
Reversal Heracross Lead + Spikes Forretress by gguti
:heracross: :armaldo: :scizor: :ninjask: :shuckle: :forretress:
:dp/ninjask:
kiru: Ninjask sticks out as the tier's fastest Pokémon, right above Electrode. Luckily, Speed + Baton Pass alongside [Dual Potential Stat Passing] + BP is banned. This leaves Ninjask sets restricted to only setting up within itself as a win condition, as its ability breaks this rule as a whole. Ninjask does have Choiced Shadow Ball and Hidden Power Rock to catch Fire-types like Charizard and a weakened Ninetales off. Overall, Bug has an awkward time being a consistent load into Flying with Skarmory alongside practically an entire catalog of different options. {[Choice Band | King's Rock] - Sample Set]}
:dp/scyther:
kiru: Scyther outspeeds Charizard also, and notably has Swarm to prompt Silver Wind and explore other coverage options to poke at offensive Pokémon. Furthermore, it also has Endure + Reversal sets alongside Substitute to take advantage of status like Hypnosis / Stun Spore. {[Choice Band | SD + Endure | SD + Substitute | Leftovers] - Sample Set}
:dp/yanma:
kiru: Yanma is a worse Ninjask and Scyther in terms of speed, but it gets specific tools in useful abilities in Compound Eyes and Speed Boost, and set-enabling options Hypnosis and Reversal+Liechi Berry. {[Liechi Berry | Petaya Berry] Sample Set]}
:dp/venomoth:
kiru: Venomoth practically has no coverage, like most Bug types and its STAB Sludge Bomb doesn't hit much directly outside neutral attacks. It's primary use is status sequences + potentially enabling pinch berries with Baton Pass since it's not directly for anything in the tier. Maximum HP opted to be able to live an attack. Any berry in Petaya/Liechi/Lansat works but it depends on your team's need. {[Status | Dual Status] Sample Set]}
:dp/heracross:
kiru: Heracross speed ties with Suicune in the builder creeping either 295 to outpace the likes of Modest Suicune, Timid Gyarados, and max speed invest Moltres (neutral nature). Heracross has a couple of sets it can pull off like Choice Band, Endure + Megahorn sets to prompter Swarm, and Focus Punch. {[Choice Band | Salac Berry] - Sample Sets}
:dp/pinsir:
kiru: Pinsir, in similar vein to Heracross runs Choice Band + Salac Berry sets to enable Flail as it doesn't have access to Swarm like other Bugs. Furthermore, it has explorable options in Rock Slide or Body Slam (para fisher) but consistently it should opt for CB / Salac Endure to maximize its value. {[Choice Band | Salac Berry] - Sample Sets}
:dp/beedrill:
kiru: Beedrill's main appeal is Baton Passing, but overall, it's fringe and doesn't provide direct value outside Baton Pass. Physical attackers from the likes of Heracross, Pinsir, and Scizor benefit in chokepoints depending on the type you are against. Maybe if Skarmory isn't Roar which feels really good right now, you'd be able to pull this off. To pull this off consistently, you'd need some form of status in sleep / para-sequences to occur to fully get a Pokémon in. Substitute | Endure + Endeavor Beedrill can get the most out of a trade for the "direct" value Bug craves for. {[Endeavor + BP | Focus Energy + BP] - Sample Sets}
:dp/butterfree:
kiru Butterfree is also not that amazing, but one dimensionally has Sleep Powder and Stun Spore. Overall, Butterfree is a supportive teammate that usually wants to be off the field or status spam (low damage output). Directly Baton Passing may be the small threshold of momentum you need to fully get this operational. Quick Claw can fish against faster target for status spam. On a more niche note, Butterfree also has access to Rain Dance to make a sequence for Swift Swim Surskit. {[Status-Based] - Sample Sets}
:dp/scizor:
kiru: Scizor is a straightforward offensive setup sweeper that can also run Choice Band-oriented sets. It notably has access to Endure + Reveral alongside its base Steel-typing and nice physical def, complimenting Bug against the physical Hidden Power Flying users as it also has access to Iron Defense. {[SD Offensive | Endure + Reversal | Choice Band] - Sample Sets}

:dp/masquerain:
kiru: Masquerain is slow overall but its access to Hydro Pump is the only thing that would validate it alongside other Bug/Flying Pokemon. Substitute can take advantage of weaponizing status turns and also just prompt Petaya Berry. Overall, pretty fringe, no Hypnosis, but has Stun Spore. {[Petaya + Sub] - Sample Sets}
:dp/armaldo:
kiru: Armaldo is a premier consideration on Bug teams but it falls short on its unreliance of Rock Blast, often requiring it to run items like CB/Hard Stone to maximize its damage output to "break" Skarmory...or rather poke at it after team progression. Armaldo can at least deviate on the physical or specially defensive end for chokepoints like Flare Blitz Blaziken or Flamethrower Ninetales, respectively, but Bug often is sacking Pokemon, and Armaldo isn't the bravest soldier to be doubling into Fire-type attacks. {[Choice Band | Protect + Leftovers | ChestoResto | Hard Stone RestTalk] - Sample Sets}
:dp/surskit:
kiru: Surskit is rather fringe but can work in a sequence if your team includes Rain Dance of some form. Outside of considering dual Rocks (Shuckle relying on Rollout), Surskit isn't the "worst" thing despite the options already not being as bright. [Rain Dance + Substitute Fish]
:dp/forretress:
kiru: Forretress stacks a secondary Steel-typing but has utility in Rapid Spin to hold it up still. Alongside Spikes and Explosion to accept a trade, Forretress still finds value despite its passiveness due to its immense bulk. [Utility | Screens Explosion]
:dp/shedinja:
kiru: Shedinja shouldn't really be used outside of a lead attempting to take advantage of Pokemon that "won't" have coverage for it but on paper this means Pokemon needs to run HPs in Rock or mixed depending on the Pokemon to acknowledge Shedinja in the metagame. Overall Bug is super fragile so you might be able to pull it off but finding a consistent load for a Shedinja kinda highlights its competitive stability in not being that consistent. Lum Berry can take advantage of Toxic/Wisp. [Choice Band]
:dp/parasect:
kiru: Parasect gets Spore'd and needs to be deviated pretty awkwardly to accept a trade or depend on another Pokemon + Substitute to really gain value. Charcoal can poke Steels alongside HP Fire but the most value you're getting is Spore + Stun Spore the next mon that comes in. Lum Berry to survive Spore Smeargle/Breloom works more against more volatile playstyles but far beyond niche on the vr and likely unranked following our first slate. [Charcoal + Status]
:dp/shuckle:
kiru: Shedinja is pretty awkward and it needs Curse. You're praying for status or a para prompter to really get things going. Otherwise, WW Skarmory is a huge enemy alongside other phazers like Jolteon and Tyranitar. Insane bulk though and it gets Toxic.[Rollout + Defense Curl]

ChestoRest Crawdaunt + CM Baton Pass Absol by kiru
:crawdaunt: :tyranitar: :absol: :houndoom: :sharpedo: :sableye:
SunBeam Shiftry Dark Offensive by kiru
:sharpedo: :tyranitar: :absol: :houndoom: :sableye: :shiftry:

:dp/sneasel:
kiru: Sneasel is Dark's faster option outside of Salac Berry. Still, it relies on a teammate to break down Steel's or really start the progression of a fight, so it can follow up or lure with HP's like Rock/Flying to hit Fire- and Fighting-types like Charizard and Heracross, respectively. [Choice Band | Liechi Berry]
:dp/houndoom:
kiru: Houndoom is a glue on Fire teams as Flare Fire zone's Fire's archetype in spamming STABs and setting Sunny Day to trigger Sunny Day and wallbreak more. [Pursuit | SubToxic | Charcoal Overheat | Salac Berry | Black Glasses]
:dp/sharpedo:

kiru: Sharpedo can opt for either special or physical sets often resourcing a pinch berry like Petaya or Salac Berry depending on its coverage. Hidden Power Grass is notable as this targets Water Absorb Quagsire. This set also faces 5MSS as you want Ice Beam for Dragons sometimes. Alternatively, Choice Band has access to HP Flying securing OHKOs on more frail Fighting-types like Breloom and Heracross. [Special | Physical | Salac Berry | Agility]
:dp/murkrow:
kiru: Murkrow is missing its evolution…I know, but CB Drill Peck is your only hope. Murkrow also gets Mean Look and Perish Song, which can be potentially ok for rather passive Pokemon but stall hasn’t fully honed an archetype in ADV Monotype as of now to accurately claim it beats a deviation. Using Murkrow is going to be hard regardless of the team. [Choice Band | Perish Song]
:dp/shiftry:
kiru: Shifry can take advantage of Giga Drain | Special HP grass or go haywire with Chlorophyll + Solar Beam. Grass Pelt is a way to maximize just the output you need for Water and Ground Pokémon. Mixed sets are encouraged as you can get value out of things with Explosion or even exploring other Hps by opting for Giga/Solar as placement coverage. [Mixed | Miracle Seed | Swords Dance | Choice Band | Miracle Seed Explosion]
:dp/absol:
kiru: Absol has access to Calm Mind and a colorful move pool in BoltBeam, Fire Blast, Grass Knot, and more. Not too many things will get in the right positioning to fully pull of passing, due to Absol’s fragility, but exploring Absol as a utility option and comparing roles to Umbreon / Mightyena is best. [Baton Pass Support]
:dp/mightyena:
kiru: Mightyena is pretty poor as a support but has Intimidate and more nichely: Roar, Super Fang, Heal Bell, Counter, etc. Lum Berry + Hidden Power Flying could be an attempt to check Breloom. [Heal Bell Support]
:dp/umbreon:
kiru: Umbreon is a premier support option on Dark as it has access to a plethora of options in primarily Baton Pass-orientated sets but also still viably a Mean Look + Toxic set to cripple. [Baton Pass + Mean Look]
:dp/tyranitar:
kiru: Tyranitar is a staple in Overused, and its a foundation here as well with perma-weather. Adversely, this isn't complementary for Dark's foundation; however, other Pokemon like Shiftry and Houndoom have explored self-setting Sunny Day on some of Dark's archetypes, which kinda puts this worry out of the window. https://pokepast.es/47aa34034a1e24e6
:dp/crawdaunt:
kiru: Crawdaunt feels like extra Water/Fire reassurance. Apart from Sharpedo, Crawdaunt has access to Body Slam which on paper provides a diffrentiating value, however the cost of either dropping Sharpedo or having two Waters all the time has its negatives for a typing reliant on Tyranitar to win Electric or Houndoom to to individually really put its all vs Grass/Bug. [Special | Body Slam Mixed]
:dp/sableye:
kiru: Sableye is Dark's only resort in realistically having a Fighting switch-in. Dark unfortunately does get overwhelmed by Breloom's Sleep Powder long-term, thus creating a very critical-static gameplay which still is Fighting-favored. Outside of directly-Fighting, checking Sableye directly can be hard with Dark having accompanied tools like Hidden Power Flying physical attacker in Sharpedo / Murkrow. [Standard Utility | CM Rest Recover | ChestoResto]
Dual Mixed Dragons ft NFE Shelgon by kiru
:dragonite: :shelgon: :flygon: :salamence: :kingdra: :altaria:
Thunder Wave Dragonair+Dragonite Family Duo by kiru
:dragonite: :dragonair: :flygon: :salamence: :kingdra: :altaria:
LS Dragonair + CB Flygon by cicepece11
:flygon: :kingdra: :salamence: :dragonite: :altaria: :dragonair:

:dp/flygon:
kiru: Flygon is a straightforward option out of the only "7 viable" options available so it acts as a staple being able to opt for either physical or special sets. Overall Dragon doesn't have a lot of options so it's important to explore different deviations or sets to exploit the typical gameplay considering you're running a Dragonair or Shelgon last. For Example: Opting for Hidden Power Bug can check Ground-resistances or typical Ground switch-ins like Celebi and Claydol; Fire Blast pokes at Skarmory and Forretress, both which can situationally come in on some of its attacks, whereas Gust can serve as a placeholder to poke at Heracross+Breloom to make room for another Hidden Power.
[Sub AOA Mixed | Choice Band | Sub Toxic Protect | Sub + 3 Attacks]
:dp/salamence:
kiru: Salamence is another Ground immunity amongst the four lol, but has Intimidate which is resourceful in game. Salamence can opt for either physical / special / mixed sets alongside either Choice / Dragon Dance (with hybrid combos like Mixed DD). [AOA | Choice | DD + 3tks | Dragon Dance + Fire Blast | DD + Sharp Beak]
:dp/kingdra:
kiru: Definitely not Walking Wake. Kingdra awkwardly has to setup rain for itself or rely on another teammate to really get the Swift Swim vision going. Potentially exploiting Thunder Wave turns from Dragonair/ Dragonite can pan out an extra turn for Kingdra to get the sequence going. Otherwise, Petaya Berry + Rain Dance intentionally can zone out a few typings like Fire, Ground (IF HP Grass and IF they have a Quagsire). [Petaya Berry]
:dp/dragonite:
kiru: Dragonite's ability is pretty got damn useless but you can build off its offensive prowess in exploiting sets like Choice Band or Liechi Berry. You could also run Thunder to compliment off Kingdra's Rain Dance. [DD Mixed | Choice Band | Sub Focus Punch | AOA Focus Punch | DD Endure Liechi Berry | Thunder Wave Special]
:dp/altaria:
kiru Stacking the third x4 Ice weakness must-have option is Altaria! Hidden Power Flying + Earthquake is a nice baseline for a Dragon Dance set as well as phazing sets like Roar for setup sweepers like Jirachi! [Dragon Dance]
:dp/dragonair:
kiru Dragonair has access to Thunder Wave which can theorectically help long-term for Dragon. Light Screen is the bare minumum of its options that can "zone" some sort of support your anticpating. https://pokepast.es/e19f5ad6e0e1ad18
:dp/shelgon:
kiru: Dragon Dance, Rest, Pray, then Rest in Peace. Can run either max defense or max special but you need a sequence like Thunder Wave Dragonite to "make up" for not having Dragonair to really be able to make use of it. [DD -> Rest -> Pray -> RIP Shelgon]
BP Jolteon + Magnet Pull Magneton Standard by Pengairxan
:jolteon: :magneton: :zapdos: :electabuzz: :raikou: :manectric:
Salac Lanturn + Explosion Electrode by kiru
:lanturn: :electrode: :zapdos: :raikou: :manectric: :jolteon:

:dp/electrode:
kiru: Electrode is fastester than +1 Heracross but slower than Ninjask. Explosion gives it viability. [Explosion]
:dp/jolteon:
kiru: Jolteon is mostly used for speed and most times just not having an Electrode. Baton Pass gives momentum while Roar phazes setup like Jirachi. [Offensive Roar / Baton Pass]
:dp/raikou:
kiru: Raikou does the same thing every generation so you're either opting for Hidden Power Ice for things like Salamence/Flygon or HP Grass for Swampert. [Calm Mind]
:dp/manectric:
kiru: Manectric gets a special Crunch so that's cool. Substitute + Petaya can maximize its value. [Substitute]
:dp/zapdos:
kiru: Zapdos is the best Pokemon on the type that has a Flying-typing. You can opt fo Rest or even run Toxic + Substitute sets to exploit turns. It can run a million things. [Offensive Agility | ChestoResto]
:dp/plusle:
kiru: Minum has Encore to "cripple" setup and make room to get another teammate in but it doesn't really provide much. it has Wish / BP also. [Support]
:dp/magneton:
kiru: Magnet Pull 1v1s Steels so thats pretty directly "competitive". Its awfully slow however. [Magneton]
:dp/lanturn:
kiru Lanturn is a Fire/Water resist naturally and I believe Thunder Wave is a nice option as Discharge isn't here in ADV to maximize value. HP Grass/Fire are cool. [Lanturn]
:dp/electabuzz:
kiru: Has Cross Chop - Pengairxan [Electabuzz]
:dp/ampharos:
kiru Ampharos has a billion HP but is rather unexplored with the kickoff of the metagame. [SubPunch]
FWG + RestTalk Machamp by Joaf
:breloom: :poliwrath: :blaziken: :machamp: :medicham: :heracross:
Choice Heracross + BP Medicham by kiru
:heracross: :medicham: :breloom: :primeape: :poliwrath: :blaziken:

:dp/primeape:
kiru: Primeape is the fastest mon on Fighting that can opt for a number of HPs or sets; prominently, and consistently in offensive orientated Choice | BU sets.
:dp/hitmonlee:
boomp: Hitmonlee finds viability in its ability Limber zoning out paralysis and its movepool in Rapid Spin which serves as a resource on paper for FIghting teams. Mach Punch can also revenge kill. [Choice Band | Rapid Spin]
:dp/heracross:
kiru: Heracross is passively and naturally good due to Megahorn benefitting off Swarm alongside with optionally running Reversal/Flail which is also complementive of "taking damage" [Swarm + Berry]
:dp/medicham:
kiru: Medicham neutralizes Fighting's very clear Psychic weakness but doesn't directly fulfill that matchup alone at least. Pure Power is what gives it viability. Medicham is a set impression Pokémon as it can run offensive sets like Choice or Salac, then throw in Recover miraculously. [Medicham Sets]
:dp/blaziken:
kiru: Blaziken has a Fire resistance on paper, which can be useful in triggering Reversal + Salac Berry in the Fighting matchup. [SD + Reversal Mixed]
:dp/breloom:
kiru: Breloom has Spore and that makes it one of the best Pokemon in the metagame still by Enduring to outspeed its intended checks and put it to sleep. [Spore + Mach]
:dp/hitmontop:
kiru: Hitmontop gets Rapid Spin and gguti beat me with got damn Sunny Day Hitmontop. Primarily gets use off Spin+Intimidate but its fairly niche. [Rapid Spin]
:dp/poliwrath:
kiru: Wrath has Water Absorb and thats resourceful against Water on paper. ChestoResto can maximize value as well. [Poliwrath Sets]
:dp/machamp:
kiru: Machamp is insanely bulky, to a point where running max defenses + bulk has found a place in the metagame. [RestTalk]
:dp/hariyama:
kiru: Thick Fat is pretty viable in a Fire-offensive metagame. Hariyama can also remotely run any set and still play a "role" to get value in CB / WW / RestTalk / Guts / etc. [CB | Whirlwind]

:dp/charizard:
boomp Offensive Ground immunity for fire teams while being a flexible wallbreaker and/or setup sweeper. Can't go wrong with special Charizard, Physical, hell even mix attacker!
:dp/ninetales:
boomp Fast support Mon with potential to spread burns + setup sun for the team. Can also do funny Grudge antics >:)
:dp/arcanine:
boomp This is my absolute goat / favorite pokemon of all time. You cannot go wrong with what your trying to accomplish with Arcanine. Its a strong breaker + lead thanks to intimidate. Rather your utilizing Band, Charcoal, mix attack, special, physical; It will pack a punch. Also have nice priority in Extreme Speed :D
:dp/rapidash:
boomp Fast Fire horse that can setup sunny day for team or just fish for a sleep with Hypnosis. Also has baton pass; However, it can be a pretty decent revenge killer
:dp/moltres:
Another Ground immunity that just hits everything well with Flamethrower + HP Grass. Can spread burns and also phaze out setup sweepers if they get out of hand
:dp/entei:
boomp Honestly, Sub + Calm Mind antics...... yay!
:dp/blaziken:
boomp Strong sweeper with a thankful part Fighting typing to bully Dark, Normal, and Rock teams. Really hard to guess which set it runs as its such a flexible force to be reckon with.
:dp/camerupt:
boomp nice electric immunity while surprisingly being a funny Choice Band user. If not utilizing CB, its a solid tank with Toxic or if things get out of hand...Explosion! :D
:dp/torkoal:
boomp Nice wall with utility options in Yawn / Toxic / Explosion if your feeling bold.
:dp/houndoom:

ChestoResto Sableye + CB Banette by kiru
:gengar: :sableye: :dusclops: :misdreavus: :haunter: :banette:
SalacPerish Misdreavus + CMResto Sableye by kiru
:gengar: :sableye: :dusclops: :misdreavus: :haunter: :banette:

:dp/gengar:
kiru: Gengar is Ghost’s fastest option and as you go down this list you’ll see that atp this is one of ghosts only option in fact lol. Explosion accepts trades when things go wrong with Hypnosis as Gengsr isn’t really a wall breaker. Explosion gives it’s a sense of viability alongside Destiny Bond to affect trades, or Taunt to prevent Spikes from Cloyster, Glalie, and Forretress.
:dp/dusclops:
kiru: Duclops is obnoxiously weirdly bulky? It has Ice Beam but Will-O-Wisp provides direct value for teammates on a wider scope.
:dp/misdreavus:
kiru: Misdreavous has to act like Wanda Vision and be unpredictable atp. Perish Song, luring with Destiny Bond, Thunder Wave, Pain Split, and more are all useful and annoying status ailments.
:dp/banette:
kiru: CB Banette can poke a selective number of types in a particular HP coverage. hp fighting can lure Tyranitar, Flying for Bug/Grass/Fighting builds and more! Overall super frail and hates double switching in so has to play the passive game situationally to get it in safely.
:dp/haunter:
kiru: Haunter is one of the only next options of Ghost that needs to Destiny Bond / Explosion to really "do something" for the team.
:dp/sableye:
kiru: Sableye can form a win-condition for Ghost with CM sets or cripple Pokemon with Toxic to stall+Recover.
:dp/gastly:
kiru: pretends to be Haunter like Haunter is pretending to be Gengar by Destiny Bonding.
:dp/shedinja:
kiru: Shedinja is noobtrap just like all of Haunter/Gastly. Has CB to HP Fighting against Normal i guess.

Stun Spore Roselia Grass by cicepece11
:roselia: :ludicolo: :cradily: :celebi: :sceptile: :breloom:
Lead Salac Breloom + Boom Egg by kiru
:breloom: :exeggutor: :celebi: :cradily: :ludicolo: :jumpluff:

:dp/sceptile:
cicepece11: Sceptile has a high Speed stat letting it outspeed most of the metagame and pressure teams immediately. With a strong special attack, Leaf Blade, and coverage like Hidden Power its effective as a fast offensive threat in ADV. It also gets access to Substitute + Leech Seed, letting it whittle down anything that doesn't outspeed.
:dp/jumpluff:
kiru: Has Access to Spore, can create a win-condition with SD+HP Fly.
:dp/celebi:
kiru: Baton Pass Support that can pass Calm Mind, Leech, and other support options.
:dp/venusaur:
kiru: Best Poison / Grass out the Grasses.
:dp/meganium:
kiru: Meganium's pure Grass sucks and it's taxing having a pure Grass overall.
:dp/shiftry:
kiru: Sunny Day + Explosion Thing 1
:dp/breloom:
cicepece11: Breloom is the best physical attacker on grass teams because of its Great 130 base attack and also acces to Spore giving it guaranteed sleep, letting it force switches and create momentum shifts. With Substitute and Focus Punch and strong Fighting STAB, it can heavily punish common walls and become a major offensive threat in ADV.
:dp/ludicolo:
@cicepiece11: Ludicolo is a great option because of its Grass and Water type giving it excellent defensive coverage and lets it comfortably check common Water types. With Rain Dish in rain and access to Leech Seed and solid special offense, it excels as a durable and disruptive Pokemon. It can also be a fast special attacker with acces to Swift Swim.
:dp/victreebel:
kiru: Victreebel is a worse Venusaur unless you run both.
:dp/exeggutor:
kiru: Sunny Day + Explosion Thing 2
:dp/tropius:
kiru: needs Sunny Day
:dp/vileplume:
kiru: Grass doesn't have a stable defensive core
:dp/roselia:
cicepece11: Roselia is solid because it provides reliable Spikes support while also threatening common Water and Ground types with STAB Grass moves. Its solid Special Attack and access to a variety of status moves make it an effective utility Pokémon that pressures opponents while supporting its team.
:dp/sunflora:
kiru: Sunflora is pretty slow and needs Sun kinda up to get value or maybe Sleep Powder of some form.

SD Gligar + Mixed Swampert by venesha
:swampert: :gligar: :flygon: :dugtrio: :claydol: :steelix:

:dp/claydol:
Joaf: As the strongest spinner of the Ground-types, Claydol's toolkit offers a lot for a Ground-type team looking for a reliable spike-immune spinner that provides a strong defensive core with decent offense in STAB Earthquake, and Psychic, as well as the powerful boom for damage plus momentum.
:dp/flygon:
Joaf: This is another spike-immune ground type which is a very valuable trait for a ground type team to possess. Flygon has access to a pretty decent movepool and speed tier allowing it to patch up any holes the team may have offensively.
:dp/swampert:
Joaf: Swampert is the ultimate glue mon that can nearly do it all. Great bulk, set variety, and reliable all-around. Finding out the set is half the battle when facing a Swampert.
:dp/donphan:
Joaf: Another hard hitting tanky Ground-type with access to Rapid Spin. It can function as a wall, or even a more physical threat with a Choice Band.
:dp/marowak:
Joaf: With a Thick Club in his hand, Marowak does immense damage. A more niche pick, as it can be harder to fit on to teams without decent support.
:dp/rhydon:
Joaf: This Pokemon can hit hard, but boy is it slow, making Rhydon a so-so choice as it's bulk/unfortunate typing make it very squishy. That said, it can be a major threat in the right position as a breaker.
:dp/steelix:
Joaf: This is the true defensive wall of what the Ground-types have to offer. And the only Steel typing that Ground has to offer, making it a strong choice on any team here. It's great physical bulk allow it to take on much of the physical threats in the tier.
:dp/gligar:
Joaf: Another spike immune ground type with more offensive prowess and access to Swords Dance and a decent speed tier. Though not quite at the level of it's later final form Gliscor, Gligar offers a nice niche for teams looking for a strong setup Pokemon.
:dp/golem:
Joaf: Where other Ground-types are focused on utility and longevity, Golem fills a very dfferent niche wanting to provide immediate pressure alongside it's bulk and ability to trade. It's explosion will wipe most Pokemon off the map and forces undesirable trades for your opponents.
:dp/nidoking:
Joaf: Nidoking offers a very versatile movepool with a solid speed tier making it a reliable lead to build early momentum, or late game sweeper to finish off weakened teams. It's wide range of coverage and solid offense make it a great piece on any ground team.
:dp/nidoqueen:
Joaf: This is basically a worse version of Nidoking and is typically not ever wanted over it.
:dp/whiscash:
Joaf: Though a great Pokemon in it's own right and solid stats, there is almost never a reason to use this over Swampert.
:dp/quagsire:
Joaf: Water Absorb gives Quagsire a great niche over Swampert as the go to Water/Ground. The immunity/healing from Water-type attacks is invaluable to Ground-type teams with a major weakness to water.

Lead Boom Glalie + SubJynx by kiru
:glalie: :jynx: :regice: :cloyster: :lapras: :sneasel:
:dp/cloyster:
venesha: One of the tiers only reliable spikers. With an incredibly notable 180 Defense stat, it’s able to take multiple physical attacks and still utilize its utility in the previously mentioned, and Rapid Spin. Access to Explosion on top of these traits make this Pokemon a must have for Water and Ice.
:dp/articuno:
venesha: Exceptional stalling. Having notable bulk, access to Roar/Haze, and RestTalk enables Ice to stand up against many of the tiers strong Special attackers. It’s also notable on Flying because of these traits and Ice Beam, but is outclassed in specific areas other Flying types have.
:dp/jynx:
venesha: Amazing Special threat using it’s signature sleeping move in Lovely Kiss. It makes use in its outright potential to disrupt teams with it’s Stabs and HP Fire to hit mostly everything with neutral or super effective damage, or becomes a potent sweeper with use in Calm Mind. Enables Ice to have a shot vs Fighting, which makes it top tier for the type.
:dp/regice:
venesha: A Specially Defensive monster with 200 in the stat. Thunder Wave for a type that lacks it heavily alone makes this Pokemon more than worth using, but it also utilizes it’s access to BoltBeam to dish out decent damage. Makes great use in Explosion as it forces in pokemon that don’t appreciate taking one, such as Blissey.
:dp/lapras:
venesha: 130 HP is nothing to scoff at, but thats the most notable thing about Lapras. It’s no offensive slouch with Bolt/Beam coverage, but it falls short in comparison to other offensive attackers of its respective typings. It has access to Roar and Heal bell, giving it a niche in supporting its teammates and forcing out threats.
:dp/walrein:
venesha: With Thick Fat, this pokemon offers a great Fire resistance to Ice, and usable utility in Yawn, Roar, and Encore. However, it falls flat because while technically Stronger than Lapras, it’s not as bulky and both aren’t exactly offensive threats. It provides Water with nothing notable aswell.
:dp/sneasel:
venesha: This is no Weavile, but still stands out as Ice’s best Physical Attacker with perfect neutral in Shadow Ball and Brick Break. By virtue of being the fastest of its respective typings and even in the tier (tied with Persian), this pokemon is immediately threatening. Utilizing Choice Band to become a powerful wallbreaker, or a terrifying sweeper with access to Swords Dance, it calls for immediate respect.
:dp/glalie:
venesha: Another Ice type with access to spikes, this Pokemon offers little that Cloyster does not already do. However, because of that niche, it still provides great utility in being a second option spiker.
:dp/dewgong:
venesha: A weaker and less bulky version of Walrein, no real reason to use this over the aforementioned.
:dp/piloswine:
venesha: A unique typing, proving Ground with a strong Ice attacker, and providing Ice with an Electric immunity. However, since this Pokemon cannot use Eviolite (As Mamoswine doesn’t exist yet, and neither does the item) and its lack of speed and bulk outside of its 100 HP stat, means this Pokemon struggles to justify its use. A Choice Band set using its stabs makes it a notable offensive threat.
:dp/delibird:
venesha: Nothing really justifies the use of this Pokemon. It has hustle, and could possibly utilize a Choice Band set, but it’s extremely frail and not exactly fast either. Also since it’s coming off of poor offensive stats, it wont exactly be hitting hard anyway.

:dp/snorlax:

If needing more coverage, it has strong options in Earthquake or Shadow Ball to not be walled / Setup fodder to Ghost types. Can also decide to run Body Slam over Return to better support team with para chanses >:)
:dp/dodrio:
boomp Three headed bird that is a strong physical wallbreaker + part flying type; Being able to offensively threaten Fighting threats. Also has priority in Quick attack for late game cleaning.
:dp/swellow:
boomp Speedy Bird (one of the fastest mons in the metagame) with Strong wall breaking capabilities if equipped with a Choice Band. It wants to get STATUS badly to just break almost anything in the metagame thanks to GUTS
:dp/persian:
boomp Persian can still pack a punch when equipped with a Choice Band, but what separates it from other wallbreakers Normal has to offer is that it cannot get paralyzed. Making it an annoyance when trying to force progress / speed control against Normal as it can swap on predicted Thunder Wave which puts you in a bad spot.
:dp/tauros:
boomp Great Attack, Great Speed, what more do you want in a wallbreaker?! Tauros further complements itself by being a nice lead on Normal teams thanks to Intimidate dropping opposing physical leads.
:dp/linoone:
boomp Belly drum sweeper, im glad it doesn't have Baton pass support.... Oh wait, it does!
@cicepece11:Linoone is super dangerous with its belly drum set that can boost it up go +6 attack. It out speeds most of the metagame, and one shots faster threats with its STAB Extreme Speed. This makes linoone one of the most dangerous late game cleaners in ADV.
:dp/miltank:
boomp MOOOOOOOOOOOOO............ Great Utility Mon with Thick Fat, tanking some fire / ice attacks with ease while also keeping the team healthy thanks to heal bell.
:dp/slaking:

Standard Poison ft Venusaur by Pengairxan
:qwilfish: :gengar: :weezing: :tentacruel: :crobat: :venusaur:
:dp/gengar:
Pengairxan: Gengar has nearly everything Poison wants within one clean slot. Its a solid special attacker packing a deep movepool of both offensive and some utility options with a strong speed tier with a Ground immunity to boot. While a bit frail, Gengar is so versatile that it can afford to invest a bit into its bulk should it need to and can often chip back into healthy ranges off of its immunities.
:dp/crobat:
Pengairxan: Crobat plays important roles for Poison off its blazing fast 130 speed tier getting the jump on nearly the entire metagame with some solid attacking attacking options to boot makes it the premiere revenge killer and Choice band threat on Poison teams. It also helps packing a natural Ground immunity as well making it a natural fit onto most teams.
:dp/venusaur:
Pengairxan: Poison's best Grass-type comes in packing reliable offensive tools with hidden power and razor leaf along with some solid natural bulk and speed. Venusaur makes for a great Swiss army knife of Poison being able to fufill either a more offensive role or more supportive depending on the teams need.
:dp/weezing:
Pengairxan: Its high physical bulk along with Will-O-Wisp makes it a great way of shutting down physical attackers attempting to break through along with Haze to deter setup threats should that be nessicary, but its mere presence should do that all by itself.
:dp/muk:
Pengairxan: While lacking the Dark typing of its future Alolan counterpart, Muk packs Poison's overall highest special bulk along with being tied for Poison's strongest physical attacker making it a great slugger capable of taking hits and firing back with great force. And if all else fails, you can just enjoy a good Muk Monday and show them your Explosion.
:dp/nidoking:
Pengairxan: Despite being on the weaker end of physical attacks and special ones compared to later buffs, Nidoking is a Ground-type enabling it to deter Electric- and Rock-types by its sheer presence with Earthquake still being a solid tool for punching holes through teams.
:dp/nidoqueen:
Pengairxan: A weaker but bulkier Nidoking effectivelly. Still, Ground Spam is Ground Spam, what could go wrong.
:dp/qwilfish:
Pengairxan: The other water, while generally worse than Tentacruel, Qwilfish offers the lovely Spikes that make ADV go round being a solid opener for Poison along with Intimidate preventing offensive leads from usually fully abusing it. And when its job is done, it packs a strong explosion.
:dp/tentacruel:
Pengairxan: Rapid Spin. Well, there is more than that but Tentacruel's biggest claim to fame is being the only Poison-type with a removal option making it vital at handling Spikes. Packing solid bulk and a fire and steel resistance also makes it great at fighting off certai
:dp/vileplume:
Pengairxan: Venusaur for people that are saddened they can't have a second one. While having worse stats across the board, they're not that much worse while Vileplume packs most of the same major tools Venusaur has enabling Venusaur to lean more into its offensive capabilities knowing Vileplume will hold down the fort defensively.
:dp/beedrill:
Pengairxan: : Its got bug stab, a workable speed tier, and not much else. Unless you're in desperate need of a Psychic check, stear clear.
:dp/swalot:
kiru: Can opt for CB Explosion or Specially Defensive or Defensive with Mixed Explosion.
:dp/dustox:
Pengairxan: While seeming unimpressive, Dustox still packs a respectable bit of special defense along with having access to reliable recovery making it a functional deterrent to some psychic types. And hey give the little guy some credit, its cute.

CMPass Celebi + Slowtwin by Epicc11
:celebi: :slowbro: :slowking: :claydol: :metagross: :alakazam:

:dp/celebi:
kiru: Celebi is a natural well-rounded Ground-resist that has utility options like Calm Mind, Leech Seed, and Baton Pass.
:dp/claydol:
kiru: Claydol has Explosion and Rapid Spin for zoning. Explosion is pretty huge this generation.
:dp/jirachi:
kiru: Jirachi is pretty straightforward with Calm Mind sets making it pretty oppressing after a boost.
:dp/medicham:
NTNW: Medicham is probably close to mandatory on most psychic teams, being not only the strongest physical attacker they have access to but also being one of the strongest physical attacker in the metagame. It also has important coverage in brick break, shadow ball, and rock slide to hit steel and ghost types that might otherwise be a threat, alongside access to priority in the form of fake out. Choice band sets will typically be the most direct in accomplishing what a psychic team needs, but access to bulk up and substitute provide some other options

TheShowdownHero: Medicham is a Dark resist
:dp/metagross:
kiru: Stacking Metagross alongside Jirachi isn't bad as Explosion can accept trades and position teammates like Lovely Kiss Jynx or Alakazam in more directly.
:dp/starmie:
TheShowdownHero: Starmie: this pokemon is a viable secondary speedy threat for psychic based teams, using moves like surf and psychic and thunderbolt to take on most of the competition
:dp/alakazam:
TheShowdownHero: Alakazam is a pretty fast attacker using its natural speed to outrun threats most of the metagame and deal heavy damage with psychic. It also has access to special Ice/Electric/Fire Punches. [Alakazam]
:dp/espeon:
kiru: Espeon is insanely fast and has Baton Pass.
:dp/exeggutor:
kiru: Is a lot worse Celebi, and its super taxing running both but it has Explosion, Sleep Powder, and Chlorophyll so you can get some sequences.
:dp/gardevoir:
NTNW: Gardevoir doesn't necessarily do any one thing particularly well, but has an incredibly wide movepool that can fit whatever gaps are needed in a team, not only with its access to varied coverage, but also being able to play multipl roles including as a calm mind sweeper, wish passer, trapper with mean look, or general utility with destiny bond and will-o-wisp
:dp/jynx:
NTNW: Jynx's access to lovely kiss, sub, and calm mind make it an incredibly potent late game sweeper. There's not much that can switch into a boosted ice beam, especially when Jynx is sitting behind a sub
:dp/slowbro:
NTNW: Slowbro is a good bulky option that can become a threat through either calm mind or curse options, play as a general wall with access to rest and twave, or occasionally be a sub punch user if a tem demands it
:dp/girafarig:
NTNW: Girafarig is generally pretty bad, but its access to baton pass means it can bp some combination of calm mind, agility, wish, and sub to more capable threats
:dp/grumpig:
NTNW: Grumpig is specially defensive enough to switch in a special attacker and set up a calm mind, not the best sweeper psychic has access to but could be worth playing if you're in particular need of an answer to special attackers

kiru: Main appeal is Thick Fat but Pure Psychic is awfully taxing
:dp/hypno:
NTNW: Hypno is another good special wall that's a bit less offensively threatening than grumpig, but more than makes up for it with access to seismic toss and wish, alongside slightly more bulk. Best suited as a defensive answer to imposing threats that can wear them down overtime
:dp/lunatone:
NTNW: Lunatone does have access to hypnosis, but largely does the same thing as other psychic calm mind users, while being less powerful than most of them. The rock typing doesn't do much for psychic that isn't better found elsewhere, but may occasionally be useful defensively
fardedonnit! has been disqualified from the tournament
:dp/slowking:
NTNW: Slowking's exceptional bulk, especially on the special side, make it a threat to come in and set up a calm mind, before sweeping through a team with the help of leftovers and rest for recover. At the same time, it's exceptionally slow and weak to entry hazards, making it vulnerable to any capable physical attackers that can burn through it

:dp/tyranitar:
kiru: Tyranitar is a staple in Overused, and its a foundation here as well with perma-weather. Choice Band, DD, Liechi, or practically any set to help Rock "win" works. [Tyranitar Sets]
:dp/armaldo:
kiru: Armaldo has Rapid Spin but doesn't directly help a matchup? It can wallbreak with SD and its Bug-typing neutralizes Fighting / Ground attacks but can't really break past those matchups fully.

Epic11: Kabutops and Armaldo have competition as Spinners, Armaldo has a slight edge in typing and bulk, but Kabutops has speed interesting special coverage. You can also opt to use both and make people have to guess who's on spinning duty.
[SD | HP Bug]
:dp/regirock:
kiru: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. and Thunder Wave [Regirock Sample Set]
:dp/rhydon:
kiru: Rhydon is awfully slow, slower than most things on Psychic but Megahorn is a threat ig. [Rhydon]
:dp/cradily:
kiru: Cradily wishes to have Curse but has to opt for Barrier+Amnesia to hold its Ground.
:dp/golem:
ItsWarioTime: Golem: with explosion,Golem sets itself apart from rhydon for rock type teams
:dp/lunatone:
Epic11: Lunatone helps with the Fighting and Ground MU with it's access to Ice Beam and Psychic, it can also tech hidden power fire deal with steels sometimes, levitate lets it get in and explode probably the easiest on Rock besides Regirock and it's fellow Rock/Psychic Solrock. I also think Lunatone and Solrock are pretty good due to having Levitate and Psychic/Rock typing, Lunatone has a bit of edge due to having Hypnosis and a better special attack but I wouldn't count out Solrock
:dp/omastar:
NTNW: Omastar is a capable spikes setter with very good physical bulk, alongside a strong enough special attack stat to spam STAB surf after getting spikes up
:dp/solrock:
Epic11: meanwhile Solrock trades usable special attack and lower sp.def to be overall better in the steel matchup due to a stronger Earthquake and can sometimes run special attack investment to make it's Flamethrower/Fire Blast similar to Luna's HP-Fire, it also has the stronger explosion between the two but no Hypnosis is a little iffy
:dp/aggron:
Epic11: back to Aggron, Focus Punch/Double Edge has the vicious 50/50 game where as EQ and Rock Slide are more for coverage, once again, everything that stomachs Focus Punch can't repeatedly stomach DE and vice versa. You'll rarely see it w/o Band but it's not like it can't run Non-banded sets.
:dp/kabutops:
NTNW: Kabutops is also fast for rock and can hit decently hard + can abuse endure/salac berry/flail to some degree
:dp/relicanth:
kiru: Water neutrality, atp just run Kabutops alongside it if you're pretending to fulfill whatever mu you're anticipating to beat.
:dp/sudowoodo:
NTNW: Sudowoodo has access to both explosion and sub/focus punch coming off a decent attack stat, not sure if there's much of a reason to use it over other attacking options but there could be a niche there
:dp/shuckle:
kiru: no
:dp/magcargo:
Epic11: Magcargo is a very niche pokemon that's mostly reliant on surprise and fear factor, the fear factor comes from Flame Body punishing contact moves. Metagross has to be careful spamming Meteor Mash against Rock in case they have Magcargo which is like, 80% of the reason you would use it lol

Lead Special Jirachi ft. Magneton by Epicc11
:jirachi: :skarmory: :metagross: :forretress: :steelix: :magneton:
:dp/forretress:
NTNW: Another one of the top threats in the tier, Metagross is capable of hitting exceptionally hard with decent coverage, with Meteor Mash, EQ, Explosion, and a Hidden Power making it very difficult to answer. It also can run Agility sets to makeup for its slightly lackluster speed, allowing it to sweep in the late game.
:dp/jirachi:
NTNW: Incredible stats alongside a versatile movepool make Jirachi one of the best Pokemon in the metagame. In particular, good coverage with the elemental punches + any combination of calm mind, sub, and wish allow Jirachi to answer a number of different threats, although it’s difficult to fit all those options in at the same time. Consequently, Jirachi has to be tailored to the role needed by a team - on Steel that will tend to lean more offensive, but defensive sets are still possible.
:dp/magneton:
NTNW: Powerful special attacker with STAB Thunderbolt to hit bulky water types that would otherwise be a huge problem. Also some niche as a Magnet Pull user for opposing Steel types, alongside a good enough physical defense to switch into some attacks.
:dp/metagross:
NTNW: Another one of the top threats in the tier, Metagross is capable of hitting exceptionally hard with decent coverage, with Meteor Mash, EQ, Explosion, and a Hidden Power making it very difficult to answer. It also can run Agility sets to makeup for its slightly lackluster speed, allowing it to sweep in the late game.
:dp/skarmory:
NTNW: One of the best Pokemon in ADV more generally, and just as useful here. It’s perhaps the best Spikes setter in the game, with a great defensive typing and physical bulk, alongside access to Taunt to beat other walls and some amount of offensive prowess with Drill Peck. While Steel does have access to a plethora of physically defensive walls and hazard setters, and therefore might be uniquely capable of building teams that don’t rely on Skarmory, Skarm is exceptional in both roles, and you generally need a good reason to leave it off a team.
:dp/registeel:
NTNW: Incredibly bulky, but a lack of offensive power or coverage options make it a less compelling threat. Can be a helpful wall with Toxic, Seismic Toss, Rest, and Sleep Talk, but doesn’t necessarily offer anything unique for Steel.
:dp/scizor:
Epicc11: Scizor has multiple different sets it can use while often being one of the targets for Ledian/Scyther/Ninjask's passing and the boost move it uses depends on the stat being passed to it, when it's not a recipient of passing, it can be a bulky offense mon due to Morning Sun alongside Foretress.
:dp/steelix:
NTNW: Incredible physical bulk alongside a powerful STAB EQ means that Steelix can beat a lot of threats in the meta, alongside the possibility of tanking a hit from a setup sweeper before phasing them out with Roar. This gives it an important role on a lot of teams, especially in conjunction with Steel’s access to good hazard setters, although it doesn’t hit as hard as you might expect.
:dp/aggron:
kiru: As with many Steel types is a very good physical wall, although the Rock typing does more harm than good defensively. Its most significant niche is an incredibly powerful SubPunch coming off 110 base attack, that will put a significant dent in almost anything.
:dp/mawile:
kiru: Mawile has Baton Pass but faces competition out of most Steels either already just benefiting from Explosion/CB sets.

:dp/cloyster:
Joaf: Cloyster - Bulky Water that can offer Spikes + Rapid Spinning making for solid role compression. With boom, it can easily trade or provide momentum for rest of team. Water/Ice stab also comes in handy versus some of the tiers common threats. [Spikes]
:dp/gyarados:
kiru Gyarados is a straightfoward setup sweeper that has physical HP Flying. Substitute can avoid status while Taunt stallbreaks. [Dragon Dance]
:dp/milotic:
kiru: Milotic is a defensive wall that has access to Toxic + Recover to sit on a lot of targets. Marvel Scale makes it more bulkier and can be rewarding if intaking burn/paralysis in comparison to poison. [Status: Defensive or SpD]
:dp/starmie:
Joaf: excellent speed for getting off Rapid Spins and cleaning up late games. Great offensive sets but similarly can run more defensive sets with Thunder Wave and Recover. Easily the best rapid spinner in ADV. [AOA | Rapid Spin 3 Atks]
:dp/suicune:
Joaf: One of the best Pokemon in the generation, and should be on basically every team. It’s set variety can allow it to fit on any team and be a threat to majority of teams in some capacity. Can lean offensive and defensive equally effectively depending on what your team needs. [Calm Mind]
:dp/swampert:
Joaf: Swampert is a solid defensive and offensive piece to have on any water team. Similarly to Suicune, Swampert can fit on just about any team and provide value in areas where it is needed. It’s versatility make it hard for any team to fully prep for.
:dp/kingdra:
kiru: Is a Grass and Electric neutrality that can abuse Petaya Berry and act as a win condition and enabler for neighboring Swift Swimmers.
:dp/ludicolo:
kiru: Ludicolo is a Electric neutrality that sets Swift Swim for a win condition for neighboring swimmers like Kingdra and Kabutops.
:dp/slowbro:
Joaf: Similar to Suicune with a secondary typing. Basically worse all around, but the Psychic STAB can come in handy versus teams weak to.
:dp/vaporeon:
kiru: Vaporeon has Baton Pass alongside Wish/Roar phazing for setup / opposing BP.
:dp/blastoise:
Joaf: Not quite the Spinner that Starmie is but it can fit nicely on teams that want to avoid an extra Physic type on teams using Slowbro/king. Doesn’t have the same longevity but is very reliable in its role. It can even function as a phaser with roar.
:dp/feraligatr:
kiru: Has Torrent and bulk but not directly for a matchup as a pure Water.
:dp/golduck:
Joaf: Calm Mind Sweeper with decent speed to enable its offense. Cloud 9 can be a useful ability for negating weather as well helping a team weather a Sunny Day sweep attempt.
:dp/gorebyss:

:dp/omastar:
Joaf: A spiker with ability to function as a rain dance sweeper with decent bulk. It’s rock typing provides some useful resists.
:dp/qwilfish:
Joaf: This is a more unique spiker in the tier. Though not very bulky it’s typing makes it very useful for switching in on CB Fighters. With Poison as its secondary typing, grass becomes less threatening. It can be a CB threat in rain. Or it can spread paralysis and threaten boom.
:dp/slowking:
Joaf: Similar to Slowbro but worse, not worth using.
:dp/tentacruel:
Joaf: A fast spinner with great special defense that can typically wall special attackers not using electric moves. With access to Swords Dance, it can become a physical threat as well.
:dp/walrein:
kiru: Thick Fat isn't really benefitting Water but Walrein has a fair amount of HP and Ice STAB to deviate for potential Rest sets or Mixed sets featuring Ice Beam + Earthquake. [Ice Beam + EQ]
:dp/kabutops:
Joaf: - Physical Rain Dance Sweeper with access to swords dance and stab rock slide
:dp/poliwrath:
Joaf: The one Water/Fighting type available that also has access to Water Absorb helping against opposing water teams. More niche option that can offer decent value on the right team.
:dp/sharpedo:
kiru: Sharpedo sits at D on the VR but can pull off special or physical sets.
:dp/crawdaunt:
kiru: Crawdaunt sits at D on the VR facing competition in the builder in the same boat as Sharpedo. On Dark, its found very fringe viability for Body Slam mixed sets but even Sharpedo who's naturally more viable is at D rn as well.
:dp/dewgong:
kiru: Dewgong is considered worse amongst Lapras and Walrein according to the ADV Monotype Slate #1. This could be subject to change but overall viability seems competitive.
:dp/vaporeon:
Joaf: Best wish passer and pivot Pokemon for momentum. This can help give a team much needed longevity to withstand opposing threats and negate progress that was made. It can pass stats to for an advantage.
:dp/pelipper:
kiru: Pelipper is a Fighting resist and Ground immunity but doesn't have Drizzle this generation to autoset rain.
:dp/corsola:
Joaf: Solid typing and ability with access to refresh make for a very niche pick here. Hustle can be an option over Natural Cure to click some hard hitting booms, or even other physical attacks.

Welcome to the official ADV Monotype Viability Rankings! In Monotype, Pokémon are ranked based on how viable they are relative to the other Pokémon you have available on a particular type. The Pokémon in A rank are more viable than those in B rank, but that does not mean B rank Pokémon aren't useful or have a valuable niche. Anything that is ranked must be usable and have some value that prevents it from being outclassed. Most Pokémon are placed into one of five different rankings: S, A, B, C, and D. Some Pokémon aren’t listed either because they are either completely outclassed or haven't been ranked yet. Pokémon are ranked separately for each type. Pokémon are ranked separately for each type. For example, Water teams (stall specifically) love having access to Lanturn's Volt Absorb to provide an extra Electric immunity, but Electric teams have limited interest in Lanturn because there are no needs/superior options for its niche; therefore Lanturn would be ranked separately for each type.

Slate I Viability Council
General / Write-up Rules
  • Flaming will not be tolerated. Please respectfully debate each other's nominations.
  • Post smartly, don't just be like, "I like Miasmite, so it should be in S Tier!"
  • Include the Pokémon you're rating, the type, and what rank you want it to be.
  • Provide an explanation as to why you put it in that rank and how it fares in Monotype. (Why should it be ranked lower or higher?)
  • Please only nominate rank changes for Pokemon that you have direct experience using. Do not use theory or on-paper ideas.
Viability Ranking Slate / Council: These people will have the final say if a decision by the community cannot be reached or a Pokemon is completely misplaced. If you have any questions or need help, please PM / VM these people. (Give me Dark-type sprites)

Speed Tiers

-Written by McMeghan, Edited by kiru

Wanted to make a proper and pretty thread for that.

Format is as follows: Stat number - Pokemon / EVInvestNature(if any) / Boosts (if any).
Examples: a fully invested Timid Swampert will be Swampert / 252+, a Metagross without investment will be Metagross / 0, and a Brave Snorlax will be Snorlax / 0-.
Keep in mind that HP Fighting, HP Fire and HP Rock among the notable one will always reduce your speed IV.
