Advance Battle Mode

Cool ideas... save them for when we actually need them, as in... when DP becomes a stale metagame. Right now it's just trying to introduce variation into a metagame that is already highly dynamic.

Oh yeah, and bad choice of names. Advance was the name of the last generation of games. I thought this was going to be something like using only advance pokemon with DP movesets, or something along those lines.

just kidding, i'd rather use a 6-Salamence or 6-Sceptile or 6-Infernape team... you know, the pokes that will destroy many standards if Species Clause is revoked.
 
Chain teams seem really cool/unique. I like the idea of family teams, but those would be really rare and hard to make -- so egg group teams would be better suited for this 'advanced battle' style.

Name.. Chain Battle Mode. hehe :]

I believe this will be the problem with 6vs6 Chain Team Battles, most teams will look almost the same as standard ones.

Solution: make it 3vs3 or 4vs4
 
I don't really want a gimmicky name (no offense, but DP Plus definitely sounds a little gimmicky). I want something that will be symbolic and meaningful to people. I originally chose advanced because you really can't be stupid and play this. Also, you can't copy a team from RMT, either, as few to none of those teams fit into this format, forcing players to be creative. I have a feeling that this format will catch on once competitor comes out. Maybe I should talk to the people working on competitor about it and see if they could program it into the system...

Also, family teams are there to allow people to be a bit rougish with teams while still being able to win. A team of bronzongs is just silly good. Also, an Eeveelution team is trash in standard, but in this format, it may prove to be quite good, as you won't have insane defensive typing like you do in standard.

Any more ideas for the name of the format?

I know I want teams to be full 6v6 teams because I've tried 3v3 and it really isn't nearly as diverse as 6v6, but 4v4 is an option is this is true.
 
I was thinking something involving the word "Platinum", but I really don't know. This format is sure to catch like wildfire once competitor comes out and standard grows borring.
 
I appreciate the entusiasm, but...
You can't be sure of anything. Tired of OU? BL, UU, NU, Ubers. Then Baby Cup, 2vs2, and by that time, you go back to OU. Mono-type teams are not new at all. Chain teams? Standards... Family Teams? OR Egg Group teams? Too easy/gimmicky (former to Egg Group, latter Family). Really, standard isn't even that boring. Especially with DP having a HUGE list of pokeys.
Wildfire? No. Small house fire.
 
I think the chain team idea has some potential. They really couldn't compete with the others though. If you think about it they would have to be sent out in a specific order. I really do think that competing with a team in a set order would be cool though.
 
And no, they don't have to be sent out in order, first of all. Secondly, I really don't appreciate the random dissing, Saturn. I put a lot of effort into making this, so the least you could do is give me a suggestion for the format. Just like with all games, if you don't like it, don't play it. I just feel it's a strong and balanced alternative to Standard.

Anyways, I'm definately considering making Family Teams into Egg Teams, but I could really use some more feedback from you guys on the idea.

EDIT: I'm getting horribly pwned right now by a team of bronzongs. Family teams need to be fixed in some way or another.
 
family teams seem to Rock Paper Sizzorz. Your team would win if you have superiopr typing. like... Team Porygon Z rapes any team of poke's weak to icebeam dark pulse thinderbolt or who doesnt resist normal. honestly, not too banenced
 
UUSF (a pokemon community) often had a 'chain team' tourney as part of their season and it was really good fun bh. Half the fun is actually thinking up the team too.

That would be true if it were a format allowing only the use of family teams. The thing is, this one gives players other options, which is why it's so different from alternate formats of the past. Also, note that Family Teams have been recently updated to "egg group teams".
