Welcome to ADVPL V. This thread is for the signups for those who wish to manage in the tour. Information about the tournament can be found at the Announcements Thread here. Hosts for this edition of ADVPL are IncredibleKing, Jahkem, JensenDale.

When signing up, YOU MUST SIGN WITH AN ASSISTANT MANAGER and state who they are. Managers will be able to purchase themselves for 15k credits for one or 40k for two prior to the draft if they wish to do so.

Managers will be chosen based on experience in ADV tournaments, their level of involvement in the community and knowledge of the playerbase, their general competence, and prowess in managing in other high level tournaments in other tiers. If you do sign up, it would be worth explaining why you and your assistant manager would be good picks with relation to the above criteria.
Total money for teams is 150,000 credits.

In the weeks preceding the Live Auction, a time will be chosen where at least 1 Manager or Assistant Manager from each team can meet and perform a live auction in order to choose players. The Manager and/or Assistant Manager present will be expected to remain at the auction for the entire duration, which should take approximately 3 hours.

Once a time is set, all attending Managers + Hosts will enter the place where the auction will be held - most likely a group chat for the auction. Spectators are allowed to join in to watch the auction, but will not be able to speak. Discussion on the bidding should be relegated to the ADV Discord.

The hosts will first ask a team to nominate a player. The order by which teams will nominate players will go in a randomized snaking pattern from the first chosen team to the last chosen team, then the last chosen team to the first chosen team. Details of said player will be displayed and bidding will commence, starting at 3000 credits, with the nominating team automatically placing the first bid. The auction will then be in real time. Managers will simply put in their bids in the chat, raising a minimum of 500 credits. If after 15 seconds there are no new bids, the player is sold to the highest bid in the channel. Updated credit totals will be displayed and then the next manager in the rotation will be prompted to nominate a player.

Managers: it is necessary for you to field a roster of 12 starters and a minimum of 3 substitutes. Playing Managers and retains are included in the roster number. Players will be locked into playing only the tiers they signed up for the entirety of ADVPL VI. This does not apply to tiebreakers or between OU and OU Bo3.

There is no midseason this year. Therefore, it is highly recommended that all teams spend all of their credits in the auction, as there is no use for them afterwards.

This years edition will feature 8 teams with 12 slots:

Prospective managers and players are encouraged to join the Smogon ADV community Discord if there are any questions or concerns.

Retains will be allowed in this edition as the format has not been expanded.
Each team will be allowed to retain at most 3 players from their retain pool and self-purchasing managers (so if you choose to self purchase 1 manager you only get 2 retains etc.). Teams must notify the host team of any retains prior to the player auction.

The cost to retain a player on their first year as a retention will be max(10k, previous price + 3k). Examples:
  • If UD was bought for 13k last year, it would cost 16k to retain him
  • If UD was bought for 8k last year, it would cost 11k to retain him, not 10k
  • If UD was bought for 5k last year, it would cost 10k to retain him, not 8k
The cost to retain a player that was already retained in the last ADVPL will be dependent on how many times they have been retained. The fee being raised by +3k with each subsequent retention.
Example: If UD was retained for 16k last ADVPL , it would cost 22k to retain him in this one, and 31k to retain him in the next one.

Players that are retained will be locked into the same tiers that they were locked in the year prior.

Signups will be up until Sunday, March 14th. Player signups will go up by Sunday, March 8th. Auction will be held a week after Managers have been finalized based on availability.

Ive managed countless Oldgen tournaments like SSPL, SMPL, ORASCL, BWPL, BWWC, DPPWC only missing playoffs in a single one of the above while also having manager experience in various old gen ou tournaments like OUPL, BDPL, ADPL, ROAPL, LCPL and others featuring ADV formats. Sheik has been on a streak for a while putting up results in every old gen tour currently also doing so in SPL on top of making finals in ADVWC this year with a solid 5-2 record with his only losses being to my 4-0 run. With his years of experience in the tier and my managing experience we are sure to build and lead a team capable of winning

Why you should choose us: Both us and the previous managers of the Mences believe we can take a team all the way if choosen. Toxinalpaca is a prolific manager with a lot of results, but most relevantly making 1st seed in RCOP and winning RoAPL with me as ass-man. I have a lot of old gens experience in all tiers, and I've been a part of the ADV community for a while. I'm intimately familiar with the tiers and pool of players for this tournament, as well as playing in ADVLTL, ADVPL, managing RCOP, and both playing and managing ALTPL. I've also managed 5 seasons of the illustrious Mushi League and made 3 finals which is pretty good.

I've played multiple ADV tiers in various team tours such as ADVPL, ADPL, PUPL, PUCL, LCPL, and ADVLTL. I also have knowledge of other tiers and playerbases through playing in ALTPL, ADVLTL, UUCL, and UPL and often perform positively. I've also managed three full seasons of Mushi League (with a fourth one ongoing) with one finals appearance so far. bello figo has managed and won with Team Italy in ADVWC and RCOP, showing his ability to support ADV OU and work effectively with his team to create winning results. He won the previous season of Mushi League with a 4-2 record and is also in tune with the ADV community. I believe that our experiences make us very capable of putting together a motivated, active, and good vibes team environment that will win the whole tournament.

I've played several advpls, won one, managed another. Since then I've also recently to second place in ADVLTL which included all the non ou slots present.

Buzzed is an OU main with off-site championship winning experience as a manager.

I captained last advpl and as well as advltl where we had a second place finish. 8 seasons managing in mushi league. Gold hosted last advpl and managed RoAPL to semifinals and has managed many many tours. I’m also a current spl player for adv as well as an adv tutor.

I’m THE_CHUNGLER, interested in managing advpl as a self sufficient ADV low tiers player that has played and built for every low tier in the tournament, making me uniquely able to help support an entire low tier core. I have played every low tier in this tournament in smogon team tours at some point, currently with a 5-0 record in adv pu during the ongoing pucl. I also won both ADV PU individual tours last year (adv pu classic and adv pu open). I played multiple low tiers in advpl last year to a 5-2 personal record and helped all of the low tier slots. I’m also very active in Mushi League and currently 3-0 in OU. I have managing experience success in PUPL and PUBD in which we made finals of the tour

Now for some words from my handsome assistant manager joj:
I'm JoJ, ADV OU solo-main. I've proven my ability in the tier as a player over the last 3 years, finishing 2nd in ADV Cup X, top 8 of winter seasonal last year, and have played in the last 2 ADPVLs, to give some examples. I've now shifted my focus to managing, having managed Mushi League for the last 3 seasons. I'm easy to work with and have the time to help our slots bring their best. I believe between the 2 of us we have the know how to build a winning team!
