Aggressive "Hail" Team

I'm absolutely bored so I decided to make a hail team. I was inspired when I played Randbat and Abby showed up. Plus with some people going ape over Rain Dance on the Suspect Ladder I thought this might work too.

Bronzongirl.jpg

Lady Zong (Bronzong) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/154 Atk/104 Def
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Hypnosis
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball

Sets up Stealth Rock.. bout it really. Brawley had a team with Metagross with a similar set so I might test that out if I feel it necessary.

Obama (Abomasnow) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Blizzard
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Focus Punch

Lee suggested this, so I'm gonna test this out. Doing EQ right now over FP because it has more coverage. Might Split the EVs a bit after I do some calculations.

Hogwarts (Mamoswine) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Ice Shard
- Blizzard
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
---

Midgame sweeper works, a hail team needs something like this right? Plus its a Warthog.. so its automatically is cool.

Chesire (Gengar) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Shadow Ball
- Hypnosis
- Explosion
- Focus Blast

bread and butter.. bread and butter..

Trann (Heatran) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 Atk/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Explosion
- Hidden Power [Ice]

good coverage is good.. plus I mess with a few people here and there.

Big Red (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP/56 Atk/66 Spd/136 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Ice Fang

Needed something that could switch in standard Heatran and fighters.. this was a top candidate. Boosted Ice Fang is nice too. Might go with Taunt over Stone Edge, only reason Im keeping it is in case of Zapdos and Gyara. EVs may change soon but these ones are meant to switch in much better.

honestly id run Lo on gengar even with the hail. everything you're hitting se is getting ohkod anyways and its really worth it just for explosion and all the nuetral hits. its not like you're keeping him in to take hits and stuff like bullet punch luke can be dealt with with heatran and zapdos

i kinda would prefer to see a spinner on this team since opposing sr looks like it could get annoying for zapdos+aboma

on that aboma protect is as good as anything to scout heracross who is terrifying

nitpick, bronzongs evs wasted kinda... sassy 104 def 8 sdef gives you the same defenses xD

thinking about using a Flier that can take some Fire hits as my team is sorta weak to that. 4-0 right now though.. which isnt too bad.

Gorm, something like this?

Bronzong @ Lum Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/154 Atk/104 Def
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Hypnosis
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball

Im also contemplating trying out Heat Proof Bronzong.

on that aboma protect is as good as anything to scout heracross who is terrifying

It's Scarfed! I'd have to reccomend switching it out for the standard Subseeder.

Abomasnow @ Leftovers
Sassy
252 HP / 20 SpA / 160 SpD / 76 Spe
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Focus Punch
- Blizzard

Heatran and Gengar (and Mamo to an extent) have your revenge killing duties covered so slapping a Scarf on Aboma seems like a waste especially when you consider how effective the Subseed set is. This set will beat Blissey 100% of the time provided she doesn't have a Fire attack (and even then you'll still have a great chance) which is a huge help to this team as it seems to have problems getting around Blissey with only Mamoswine (and Explosions) being able to deal significant damage to the now standard Calm Blissey.

Not sure what Dragon Pulse is doing on Heatran in a metagame without YacheChomps. HP Ice is much more reliable as it guarantees an OHKO on the likes of Salamence, Dragonite and Gliscor.

PS. 3 sleep moves on one team, are you insane? ;p

actually I dont know the IVs for HP Ice Heatran ;]

Ill test Scarf Obama for awhile, then if that doesnt work Ill do the subseed set.

you were supposed to read my replies Gorm and say if they are bad or not!

If you want HP Ice on Heatran, 31/30/30/31/31/31 with a Naive nature is legal. I agree that the Subseeder would fit better on your team than the Scarf set for Abomasnow. Opposing Scarf Heatran really messes you up if you mispredict, though, 4/6 Pokemon are OHKOed by Fire Blast. Actually, Subseeder Abomasnow would help with this too since Heatran often sees Abomasnow as a relatively painless switch and Sub/Protect allows you to scout its move. I can't really think of any other way to fix that problem, but if you can predict around it well enough then you should be fine. Looks pretty good aside from that.

If you want to stay Modest, 27/30/30/31/31/31 or 31/10/30/31/31/31 both generate HP Ice.

awesome. Also I think Ill try out the set you mentioned Lee, but Im not too sure on Focus Punch. Ill try Seed Bomb first then work my way to Focus Punch.

thanks for the IVs Fish and Lee.

atm Im testing Heat Proof Zong

Focus Punch deals a massive blow to Heatran who'll frequently be switching in as you Sub, as well as OHKOing other frequent switch ins such as Tyranitar and Lucario. Seed Bomb isn't really worth it as Swampert won't even be breaking your Subs while Leech Seed and Blizzard wear him down. Ice + Fight is far better coverage than Ice + Grass but there's no harm in testing, I guess. :)

hmm you are very persuasive, I wont use Seed Bomb. I'm gonna try out EQ though because coverage wise it hits a lot more.

May I suggest Explosion on Gengar over Hypnosis? It seems that both hail and Life Orb will inflict annoying damage on Gengar already, that you cannot afford to miss with Hypnosis. Instead, you should explode in the faces of Blissey, further benefiting your Choice Scarf Heatran; who before would be stopped cold by Blissey. Now you can severely threaten the opponent with Heatran considering the opponent's Blissey was unexpectedly OHKOed by Gengar's Explosion. Besides, Explosion is perfectly suitable for a set that has a 'suicide' feel to it.

I just realised now... I was expecting Thunderbolt there. This is why I shouldn't glance and assume!

alright I put in Gyarados over Zapdos for the moment. Might change its set and evs later. Might turn it into a Sleep Talker or Heatran.

Well, if you ever get to the point where you don't need Stone Edge, then why not use that Rest/Sleep Talk/Dragon Dance/Waterfall set? With Hail and SR around, it's not like Gyarados is doing much switching as it'll probably be able to switch in once before dying. Seeing as how it isn't ideal to really fit in a Wisher on this team, you might be better off just repeatedly recovery yet still have the possibility to sweep.
